Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

I have an old version of FIXT installed, and I plan to restart the whole game. I lost all documentation that came with the download when I first installed it, so I humbly ask this question: how do I update to the latest version? Or do I need to completely install it again? For the life of me I can't remember what kind of mod installation it was, if drag-n-drop of files or something else.
Also I could have sworn FIXT included a resolution patch but the first page says otherwise, am I missing something?

I have Fallout 1 from GoG which I believe is the UK version, do I use the GERMAN UNCUT or is full custom fine?

**UK version..full custom or fixes only =)

@Sduibek: Glad to see you're still working on this! Good luck with your new job; hope you don't burn out working so many hours, though!

What Memetics said. 48 to 60 hours per week is severe. Please keep as your top four priorities getting enough rest, doing well in your new job, eating good food, and family, of course.

As always, best of luck in all things.

Hi!

First of all I wanted to thank you Sduibek for the great work you've done, it's looking great so far.

Second, I wanted to ask a very specific question. I downloaded 6.7.3 patch and I installed it over 6.7.2 fixt fixes-only setup. Everything seems to work well except for the fact that every time I start a game, I have 64000 days left to deliver the water chip instead of the usual 150.

Now, it doesn't seem to be a massive problem, but I rather play the game as close as vanilla as I can, and for that I really want to set the days back to default. Is there any way to do this? I've really looked everywhere for it but I haven't found any solutions.

Suggestions?

Just a wild stab in the dark but i'm going to guess you choose the custom option and selected 'no time limit' on the Water Chip quest.
Later edit: Try following this path: Fallout 1/data/FIXT/install.log. You should see 2 lines relating to Vault/water. Mine read:
VAULT_WATER_64000
VAULT_WATER_150_DEFAULT
if your log is different try cut/paste.
PS I'm no tech guy so if this screws everything up it's your own fault. I blame the Water Merchants, Kane, and a Nasty Radscorpion.

I am having the same problem. I made sure to install it twice and the first time I let it pick everything and the second I picked everything, but I didn't see an option anywhere for adjusting the time. I'll do what the last post suggested and report back

edit,

Nope. I didn't see that in the install log and I think if I did it wouldn't change anything as that is just a log of what's been done.

With the full 200mb patch, we can adjust the time if we select custom. On the smaller one with only the fixes it defaults to 64,000. We can grab the full one and just opt out of the stuff we don't want and that'll fix the timer for us until the smaller one allows us to adjust that.

edit,

A better method. This seems better because I dont' know what is default or not (as I have never played the game) and I was hoping to trust the patch to fix things for me that I wasn't even aware of while keeping the game vanilla as possible for my first time playing.

Anyways, it might be a tad different depending on wheter you used Steam, GOG or an orginal disc or you installed the game on a Wine partition in Linux like I did but the navigation to this folder should be around the same. I found the document you have to edit in,

c:/GOG Games/Fallout/DATA/DATA/ and the file name in that folder is VAULT13.GAM

Open that up and search for VAULT_WATER and edit the 64000 to 150 and we've got our fix. Tested on Wine for Xubuntu and should work for Windows too.

Hi gents
After failing several times, I got to install the Fallout Fixt 6.7.2 Full Custom and the 6.7.3 Patch.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64x, DirectX9c, NVidia video card, and GOG Fallout1.
The game ran, but when I took the holodisk from the dying mutant in the Hub, the game collapsed to a black screen.
So, please, what can/must I do?
Another question: is it possible to keep two versions of the game, one with the Fixt and other without? I ask this because the
only way I know to "fix" things is to delete everything and start from begining.
My thanks in advance.
Cheers.

Thank you all for your support, I apologize for my silence and absence. Rest assured I am still alive.

Those of you reporting bugs or issues, if you could please add them to the bugs wiki I would greatly appreciate it: http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Fixt_bug_reports

I might not have time to work on Fixt this weekend; if that ends up being the case, I will definitely work on Fixt next weekend. With any luck, there will be a patch so stay tuned :)

Bad luck.
LOL, indeed. :) I under-estimated how insane it is to work 12 hours/day 5 days a week. I get anywhere from 2 to 6 hours of sleep each worknight. And due to various circumstances I didn't fare much better on the first few weekends. This weekend is the first that I've been productive.

Installation is an actual installer, just like you'd use for any major program. (Click next, select install folder, etc etc) The patch is just a zipfile but it's packed as an exe so you can do similar - point it to Fallout folder and it patches the game.

To check your current version, click Credits from main menu. But you should reinstall using 6.7.2 and then get the 6.7.3 patch. The installer should remember your selections from last time.

Full Custom and/or Fixes Only is fine :)

@omgitsMATT is correct: in your Fallout Fixt folder, open DATA->DATA and find VAULT13.GAM file. This is a plain text file so open it in a plain text editor. (Notepad on Windows is a classic example)

Change:
Code:
VAULT_WATER :=64000; // (10) How many days left before Vault 13 dehydrates to death?
To:
Code:
VAULT_WATER :=150; // (10) How many days left before Vault 13 dehydrates to death?

where do i download it? (n00b to nma)

Patch 6.7.3 should fix this. Odd.

Could you please send me a savegame showing the crash? Thank you.

Two versions of the game should work but you'd need them installed in different locations, i.e. C:\Fallout and C:\FalloutFixt

Sduibek:
Thanks for your kind answers.
I'll try first the two versions of the game thing.
Then I'll replay until close to the crash moment and save; no idea how to save the crash itself.
Perhaps after all I made some mistake with the patch installation.
Ah, and about Norton deleting the patch: I desabled it and then created an exception before enabling it again.
Thanks again and best of sucess with your job.
Cheers.

Suidbek:
So, I replayed the game (Fallout Fixt) until the moment of the crash to black screen,i.e, take the holodisk from the dying mutant in the Hub.
And the game did not collapsed. Amazing!
But, later, more precisely, when I gave a holodisk at the entry to Brotherhood, the game collapsed to a black screen.
Then I repeated and the game did not colapsed.
Later, when I gave an holodisk to Zimmerman at Boneyard the game collapsed again.
And this time it colapsed again and again.
I saved the game just before the colapse, I know the save is anywhere because I can load the game, but couldn't find it.
So, I copied the whole program to the desktop but it's huge (2,2 GB). I don´t know how to send it to you.
My thanks again and all the good for you.
Cheers.

The install shouldn't be 2.2GB, that's strange.

For the crashes, take a look at the Troubleshooting link in my signature here; if you scroll to the bottom there are fixes to try for those specific crashes.

General Update: I still haven't had time to work on Fixt, but I'm getting closer to a point where I can: I began moving to my new home this weekend, and will be fully transitioned by the end of the month. This move will reduce my commute and I'll be single, so these should have a significant increase on my free time. Just a bit more patience, I'll be active again soon :)

Nah it's a mutual thing we've discussed. She definitely wants children and I definitely don't, so since we have to live separately at this point in time anyway, it seemed good timing to also part ways, just logistically. (She living with family to save money, me moving to be closer to my new job)

Looking at it another way: we've been together for almost two years, which means her starting a family has already been delayed two years, so any further time she spend with me is time she'd really prefer having a husband and birthing children.

She has a genetic disease that makes bringing a child full term more difficult and increasingly so with age, so she really does need to find a suitable mate ASAP.

Hi Suidbek:
I did find the saves to send you; they are under "data" and not under "saves".
But couldn't find a way to attach them here or by PM, just insert video or image; does any is good to attach saves?
All good to you, fellow, and thanks again.
Cheers.
