Fallout Lanius fan film announced

I doubt that they'd be able to cover Lanius story in 15 minutes... that said, they call it short film so I doubt it will be the length of a feature movie either.. any clarification on that if you're reading Wade?

Yes, it will be a short. I've got two other shorts in development, including a feature and I'm currently directing a major play here in Australia. So, my schedule is pretty stuffed at the moment. I would prefer for it to be more long-form, but the longer the running time the greater expense of covering what you want.

Coming back to the choice of setting: We've gone with this because it best suits the kind of landscape we can shoot and the assets we can obtain. Because the storytelling and performance aspects are so Important to me, I'm trying to prioritize that over extensive prop building.

I'm finding there is an obsession with Fan Films to spend extensive resources on visual elements, whilst letting everything else slide. Our goal is to excel at both, in a contained manner.

Alos, MCA just put the word out on Twitter / Facebook, so that's cool. :)

Pretty much what I thought. Of all they have at their disposal, they took the most ridicolous thing (roman legion in postapocalyptic USA  ) and make a "Fallout" movie out of it?

No, thanks I pass then.

It's pretty interesting how people react to the initial concept when we discuss the whole Legion/Tribal dynamic. In the end, it comes down to resources, quality of execution and realistic filmmaking.

If you look at a majority of Fan based films dealing with Fallout, none really capture the essense of a truly Post-Apoc environment. If possible, I would say that I would love to create Shady Sands, or The Hub. Or follow the trials of the Vault Dweller. But to do that on a low budget, no matter the experience or skill of the filmmaker is pretty difficult.

Short filmmaking is based around resource mananagment. Considering we want to make a good film first, looking at a human story over something totally high concept is far more effective.

Sure, Supermutants, Bucket Robots, Ghouls and Power Armor are okay, but a social phenomenon that has happened in real life is THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING EVER!

Did any money pass between hands? :P

Hey Guys,

Well, our crowd funding campaign has begun and we really need your support. I know as hardcore Fallout Fans you've been through a lot, but we need your help with this.

Even if you can't pledge, just getting the word out would be fantastic. We've got some really talented people involved with this, and we're not just making another Fan Film. We are going to make a brilliant film first, and an amazing Fan film second.

Brian Fargo tweeted our campaign, and MCA himself threw us some money- which means people really believe in us. This isn't some kind of career thing for me, it's a chance to make something amazing for all Fallout Fans.

Many thanks,

Wade
