Fallout Movie: Not a Joke

Happy April Fools, y'all! While the "Sims" bit yesterday was obviously a prank based about slapping some interface graphics on a Van Buren screenie, the newsbit about a "Fallout" movie being in development - not much so.

Sure enough, the allegations that Uwe Boll's coworkers are involved with Bethsoft's blessing were fabricated, and "Das Films" sounded German, but indeed this will be a movie with a post-nuclear premise:

(thx for the screenshot, here's to hoping this picture constitutes allowed non-commercial republish of IMDB content... ;) Enjoy...)

The writers for the movie are indeed Andre Fonseca and Milton Hernandez, whom good Ausir traced back to Andre's LinkedIn page, which reads:
Our first screenplay, Fallout, is currently in pre-production at Das Films / Artfire.
So there you have it. No director was as of yet announced, and we have been unable to verify any connection between Beat Tangential, LLP and Zenimax. If you are interested in the title, you can verify by signing up for a trial at IMDB Pro, I guess.

Well, low-budget Mad Max clone, anyone? Could be a surprise-gem... or not.

It will be a surprise if it works.

On a sidenote: Low-budget does not mean low quality. Monty Python and the Holy Grail had a budget of around 200,000 pounds and most of us know it by heart. A Fistful of Dollars - around $200,000. Both fucking great, scores of years later. It's not the money.

The producers are Art Spigel and Ara Katz of Artfire (who previously produced Romero's Diary of the Dead), as well as Sriram Das, after whom Das Films is named (so not a German name).

Beat Tangential are just the writers, so there's likely no connection with ZeniMax on their part. If anyone is connected, it's Artfire or Das.

Saw "Diary of the Dead"... It was lame and had atrocious acting. Somehow, I can see Fallout take the exact same path. :|

Now I've got a question : if a Fallout film happens, it means that Bethsoft let it happen in some way, right ?

:twitch: man...this scares me so much...after FO3...if they make a crappy movie i'm gonna...i'm... :tired: :twitch:

Well...it says it's gonna be a Drama (which is a good thing IMO) but as being in pre-production means everything can be changed.

*falls to knees*
Oh lord! If thou art truely a kind and loving god, please see that no Boll nor Anderson find their way into the production of this film. Amen.

No Micheal Bay

Wonder if it will feature the VATS-system like doom featured front person with a gun cameras.

I honestly don't think i could stomach to keep on watching after the first instance...

Hopefully they can make a somewhat decent film.
Of course, having seen diary of the dead....i understandably feel skeptical.
Oh, and please NO UWE BOLL.
NO.
UWE.
FUCKING.
BOLL.
For the sake humanity, NO.

I think the logic here is clear. :D

Settle down, people.
I don't see any confirmation that this has something to do with the games, so the title could just be a coincidence.

Yup, there's no confirmation, but on the other hand, Briosafreak did mention Bethesda registering the Fallout movie trademark a while back, and I doubt they'd let a post-apoc movie titled Fallout be released without a lawsuit (even an unsuccesful one).
