Fallout New Vegas RPG

It was a bit challenging, but I've managed to write my character in. He's creeping about following you all stealthily like. It's up to you guys since I'm the new guy. If you want to see him, that's fine. It's totally up to you.

Edit - I see in the rules I was supposed to ask permission to join, so consider this my request. If for some reason it's not cool, disregard my post and let me know, I'll go in and delete it.

Ok, post your charact.er here so we can scope him out. Luckily you came at a time when we're talking more people on or we'd have to ask you to wait so we didn't piss anybody wanting to join.

Again people, if you want to join, now it the time to do it.

He posted his character in the Characters Thread, if you want to take a look.

Though, if I may: I think the Chinese stealth armor is a bit much. I refrained from giving my character uber T-51b Power Armor, per se, but at the same time giving him it because it fit with his background (and because it is simply awesome). I think, if anyone cares for my opinion, your CSA should be similar to New Vegas' whereas it does not produce a stealth field on its own but can "charge" stealth boys for a longer life. But this is Raven's call, not mine, so whatever she (right? soz for non-determination) says goes. I merely wish to express my belief that the CSA already has a decent protection-weight ratio, and having the ability to toggle a stealth field is undeniably too advantageous in every situation.

Edit: Also, Courier, if you've been reading into this RP for a while, why not join? Yeah, a few new faces (like myself) have popped up, but that doesn't mean you don't have a chance to get in. Also applying to this, it's Raven's call.

Haha, yes, Nevest, I am female. I thought the 'Jean' in my name gave it away. I'll go back to my other avatar so there isn't any more confusion.

And that is a good point. Coming into an rp with things like that is a pretty huge advantage and most people try not to have items that there's only one of in games, because really, everybody wants it. So I'll leave it to Scythe's discretion. Though losing the armour or bringing it down so it isn’t such an elite item would be nice.

I will have to catch up on recent events if I want to return. Any Ideas on how Mark makes his return? Or would it be better if I make a new character?

I have a wisdom tooth removed today so I will be kinda doped tonight. Will try to sort it out tomorrow.

He could always just walk back. Yasmin would accept him, no questions asked. She'd just assume he decided being with them was more fun and also wanted to watch his friends back. Though, the scratch marks his friends back now has would probably raise some questions.

Raven: Well, you also had Raven and Graves in there too, so I had no idea what was going on with that. :hide:

And Sinister, sorry if it felt like I was trying to bring you down, but I personally felt that being able to activate a stealth field on a whim was overpowered (looking at you, Operation: Anchorage) even for a roleplay. But thanks for offering to go and get your armor beat up, I really think it'll intensify the effect of roleplaying if your character could no longer rely on the stealth field. :p

No problem, man. I foresaw it being a bit overpowered anyway and planned on either switching to power armor eventually or having it get damaged at a later point. Regardless, my character can still be sneaky and use parkour moves to get an edge on opponents.

Well, I figured I'd ask about something before I posted my character. A couple of things actually.

#1: When would be a good time to join? I know you guys haven't quite left freeside yet, but I want to know if I should join now, or if you want me to wait. Either way works for me, I have no problem coming in later if that would be better from a story standpoint.

#2: While working on my character I started something which I believe may have been overpowered, so I'll ask about it first. The thing in question is having a robot in my character's possession, specifically a Mr. Gutsy. If having a robot is not okay I can write it out, if having a robot is okay, but a Mr. Gutsy is excessive I can downgrade it to a broken one and make getting the parts to fix it part of my traveling with the group.

I ask these things to make joining in as easy as possible without bothering anyone about what my character has.

Join in asap. Because once they leave, we get into story mode and that's when other people coming in is a problem. This stop in Vegas really was just so more people could come in. And a robot is fine. In a fight it'll serve everybody instead of just you and it's not that much of an advantage, where as being able to turn invisible on a whim is. Though it was considerate of you to think it might be unfair and ask beforehand. So just post your character and get into Freeside :)

I don't know. Are stealth boy sensing eyes a bit much? I think I gave a viable explanation.

I wouldn't really say 'sensing'. Anybody can see a person in stealth if they try. Brad just actually tries cause he's paranoid. I'm fine with it.

Bio:

Jacob originates from an enclave remnant based in Chicago, one of the few strongholds left to the Enclave after their defeats on both coasts. Jacob was raised with the beliefs of the Enclave, but few of them took the deep hold that it did with other members. While Jacob still holds his allegiance to the Enclave and does all he can to ensure their continued existence, he does not feel the abject hatred towards those outside the Enclave as those who were based on the west coast. He was educated much in the way that most children would have been educated in the pre-war world and as such has a basic grasp on many topics, though his specialties were found to lie in technology and the use thereof.

While at one time the Enclave held the area under a stranglehold, the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel has since become the dominant power in the region. The shift in power forced the Enclave remnant to relocate out of the city. Due to dwindling supplies and still no contact with the main forces of the Enclave, the remnant saw fit to begin sending out their members to try and both find places where supplies may be found, and to attempt to regain contact with other members of the Enclave.

It was this mission that sent Jacob out into the hostile environment of the wastes. Due to the knowledge that the population has been resisting the Enclave in all their attempts, Jacob has learned to keep his allegiance a secret, or lie and say he is no longer part of them should he be forced to reveal his past. The front he has put up ever since leaving his remnant is that he is a scavenger, which is still partially the truth since it is how he has been providing for himself.

While traveling east he came across a defunct Mr. Gutsy near the outskirts of Denver. After several months of scavenging parts from the nearby area, and refusing to go into the city itself due to the multitude of feral dogs that rule its streets, he managed to restore the robot to working order, and has since used it as both a body-guard and a salvage carrier. He made some very minor upgrades, such as installing a micro fusion breeder into it to power its plasma rifle instead of normal cells. He has been unable to regain the robot’s original designation, and as such has redubbed it GU-DR, to Jacob roughly meaning Gutsy-Denver, though Jacob mostly calls it Denny.

Personality:

Jacob has what could be called a layered personality. The personality that most people see is one of a cheerful, if somewhat vulgar scavenger looking for the next big find. While he may seem flighty at times he is someone who will fight to the end for a cause he finds worthy enough, whether that be a valuable piece of pre-war tech or a person he simply wants to keep safe.

On a deeper level, Jacob takes his mission as a member of the Enclave very seriously, and will turn on anyone he thinks may have discovered his well guarded secret. While it allows for a large degree of freedom, his mission does come first above all else. In such cases where his secret or mission is in jeopardy his carefree attitude will give way to a much more serious demeanor, and oddly a cleaner vocabulary. The only other being he has encountered out in the wasteland that knows his secret is GU-DR, which has been programmed to not discuss it with anyone but Jacob, and only when instigated by Jacob.

As I read Nevest's post, I literally started laughing out loud and asked "Did he really think that would end well?" to my monitor (causing Matt to look confused since I was talking to my computer again).

He did, actually. He didn't really expect Yasmin to whip around and riflebutt him for simply touching her, but now hostilities are starting to heat up (again).

Really? I figured most people who fight a lot tend to attack when touched unexpectedly. I actually know a few of them. And Yasmin is more hostile then most and all Nevest’s talk of losing brothers when she thinks she lost her actual brother has her in a particularly bad mood. Anyone besides Carib, because she’s sleeping with him, would cop it if they touched her right now.

Besides Blake from the Crimson Caravan, Nevest has never socially interacted with anyone outside of the Brotherhood of Steel. To him, placing his hand on her shoulder, accompanied by his comment, was a show of goodwill. Obviously, things didn't go as well as he expected. :P

Edit: I could actually expand upon his social hardships in Blood Trails, if I'm qualified for that (being new to the RP and all).

Yes, yes, you are :) It's just to stop everybody posting their crap in there. But I do want to know more about him, even though our characters aren't getting along at all. I find him fascinating.
