I have the right to laugh at what I find humorous.

Not really. Unless you feel the same protection would apply to someone who thinks black people are funny and loves to crack nigger-jokes.

Yes, actually. They may be ignorant, and they may be wrong, but they have the right to laugh at whatever they think is funny. They are NOT entitled to discriminate against a person based on race.

If a person acts like a buffoon, I might laugh; and i won't feel a bit guilty about it.

Laughing at people based on their race/gender/beliefs would not be discrimination how?

Please, try to convince me you never laughed at liberals/democrats/republicans/communists/anarchists/conservatists. Go on ahead, try to tell me with a straight face you never made a hurtful remark, never nodded when someone else did one.

Christ, if there's one thing that I hate the west culture for is the political correctness and all the absurd, double and triple standards it creates.

If someone's funny, I laugh at him. He may or may not have sexual relationships with furniture/corpses/feces/same sex/seawater mammals/his mom/custom-made blow up doll with Adolf Hitler's face,, if he's funny then I laugh.

I fixed it for you
I'm not sure being a trans is only a gender thing...
If I can't laugh at someone based on his actions, I think I can't laugh at anything anymore.. this sucks

And I'm pretty sure gender identification is not an action.

Why are all your examples on political beliefs?

Also, I never said I have never done so, I just feel no need to make light of it on the basis of "everyone does it", or to call discrimination anything other than discrimination.

I'm not saying I'm taking this over-political correct attitude too seriously, or that I don't feel like they're reaching for things to complain about. But I can't dismiss what they're saying fully, as the moment where I replace transgender with - I dunno - a Jew or African, it becomes hugely offensive. And that's weird.

this is probably why beth chose not to add sex & child killing in there game. just because of dumb f**** like this !

It is pretty ridiculous. It was kind of the same for Fallout 3 too. It's like people are looking for stuff to get offended at.

*shrugs* Hard to judge other people's feelings tho. From what we've seen so far Tabitha does look like a ridiculous character, regardless.
Wait, what was contreversial with Fallout 3? No sex and no childkilling was even in it.
this is whyyyy...

If I decide I am a duck and start looking and behaving like one, would you not laugh at me ?
After all, it's just species identification, not an action...

If you had a mental illness that made you believe you are a duck, would that be an action?

Seriously, this isn't rocket science here.

I'm not the one to think you should never laugh of an illness. It's doing it on the purpose of hurting that is idiotic.

And yes that would be an action.

Oh come now, otherkin don't actually act like the animals/mythological creatures which they believe they are, they just think that they are said creature trapped in a human body.

Sigh...

As soon as the first trans-gender starts complainingn it's a sign it might be offensive.

I get a little tired of all those people shedding crocodile tears because it's very offensive to (insert minority) whilst said minority never complains about it.

Oh, for the love off... Fuck people! No one can get along with everybody. No one can like everything. Moronic, living in a pink world, with furry talking animals, pieces of crap! Grow some guts! Stop trying to throw your responsibilitys out the window! Damn pussies!

That is all...

Yeah, actually the West Coast mutants do retain their sex organs. Otherwise, the Master not knowing that they are sterile (and you telling him to ask his female mutants) would be ridiculous. They do lose secondary sexual traits, such as breasts, though.

Yeah this is what I thought too. I mean take female bodybuilders. Breasts are fat. If you gain muscle and work out, you burn fat and your breasts become smaller.

I have 2 points.

1. I said I would be likely to laugh at a person acting like a buffoon. "Acting like a buffoon" does not include being born a particular race, holding certain beliefs, or being a certain gender (or believing one is a certain gender). To the specific example at hand, some transgender people are funny sometimes. The person complaining about New Vegas seems to think transgender people are never funny. I disagree with the assertion that any group of people is never funny.

When any person says or does something I find ridiculous, I might laugh. A lot of people make a living saying or doing ridiculous things and getting other people to laugh. Eddie Izzard, while not transgender, is a transvestite and a professional comedian whom I find absolutely hilarious and quite witty to boot.

I also find it humorous that a person got all bent out of shape that a fictional character in a game set in a fictional world wears a wig and lipstick.

2. I do not equate laughter with discrimination. Laughter does not equal denying a person a job, a home loan, a seat on the bus, a vote, etc. Laughter may hurt a person's feelings, but there is no right to not be offended. I went to lunch yesterday not realizing I had left my zipper down. Maybe somebody noticed and laughed. Should I complain? I think not.

I said it before, there are dogs in this game, are there not? What about the dog lovers, I go out and shoot a dog, I hit it, I kick it, I shove a grenade down its throat, is that not animal abuse, they should take that out of the game.

Now that I have that over with, and I hope no one took it seriously, you can't please everyone, and as a guy before said, till someone of the offended minority pops up and says this ain't right, then people don't have the right to complain cause its not directed at them.

The other thing is that this game is a what if scenario of a world that stayed in the mindset of the fifties well into the future until a nuclear war more or less wiped everything out. It's supposed to be a semi-realistic representation of that, and I sorry, there are transgenders and gays and such forth that are so glaringly obvious about what they are that they stand out like this. All obsidion did was pick something from the real world and put it into their game.

If they really feel bad about it being the bad example for the group they should put in a guy or a chick that look really good as that gender and have you find out later that they weren't born that way. And they're out there, just watch Maurry for one of his episodes that has the audiance guessing wether the "women" are actually real women. And on that note, as a guy, I gotta say some guys make really hot chicks..... *shudders*
