Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition trailer released

Moving away from athestics because that's gonna end up as one of them back and forth forever arguments that last 5 pages, despite the trailer using the same footage as the previous DLC trailer it does show how varied and imaginative New Vegas is.

Both El Shaddai and Catherine looked really good, but like Lexx said, FNV can look good with the right models, and many of them were pretty decent. Fallout 3 not so much though.

Was holding out for this, but then saw the main game + all DLCs for a mere $16 in the Steam Xmas sale and just had to do it, especially as the UE will be much more than that. Still I've a pretty good connection, so I could see those who don't jumping at the chance to have it all on disc.

It will be $39.99 for the PC, $49.99 for consoles, upon release. A few months later it will probably start to go down.

Ah, $40... What used to be, just a few years ago, the most you'd ever spend for the standard edition of a new 'AAA' PC game, with the console counterparts being $10-$20 more, at least around here. Now I see that, for example, when Skyrim and Arkham City first released they were each $59.99 on both PC and console.. Thank you, Bobby Kotick and those like you, may you soon have an unfortunate accident on a precarious cliff.

As an aside, for Skyrim I'm waiting for the inevitable Goatee edition, and Arkham City I also got in the Steam Xmas sale for $25.

When I bought the game, I went for the Collector's Edition for the cool stuff in it. If I waited on that the price would have went up. Patience was still rewarding for the DLCs though. I got all 6 for $11.44 on the Thanksgiving steam sale. The Ultimate Edition for the PC, however, is still cheaper than buying just the DLCs a full price.

I'm also a bit of a sucker for Collector's Editions, just much less so when I know there'll be a lot of DLC/expansion content and an eventual GOTY/Gold/Ultimate round-up.

Yeah, $40 is indeed a nice price considering what it all cost separately at release!

NV was good fun. Was the DLC worth playing? By which I mean, is it worth buying this again for 40 bucks just to get all the DLC?

Although I'll probably just wait a year and buy it used from gamestop in exchange for some pocket lint and a chewed-uon pen cap.

Still question stands...good or no?

Here is a thread where players have ranked the New Vegas DLCs. I haven't played all of them yet, just Dead Money and Honest Hearts. Dead Money, and the characters in it, were engaging and a little challenging. Honest Hearts is honestly a little dull. You have a moral dilemma and a choice to make at the end. However the scenery is nice. I'm looking forward to the other two. Most people seem to think that Old World Blues is the most fun.

Collectively, they add extra story threads relating to events in New Vegas, and to the Courier. They're not just "random cool stuff" like some of the FO3 DLCs

Haven't got round to playing the DLC at all ~ still so much piled up from second half of last year and more on the horizon. Actually, this is probably the first time I've ever had far too many games and not anywhere near enough time to play... must be what they call adulthood :o

New Vegas was significantly improved by the DLC. I highly recommend buying the Ultimate Edition, or buying the DLC on Steam.

I do not understand the advantage to buying this collection, after having acquired all the DLC and virtual pre-order bonuses for around $8 on Steam. Why not just wait for their inevitable sale than spend so much more because someone branded it "Ultimate"?

Edit: And ignoring the horror that is the game console . . . . :?

@AtomKilla That would be a yes. Rather than just being steam supported it actually needs it running for you to play it.
Right. If you start the game, it automatically starts Steam first. That makes it impossible to play the game without Steam running in the background. You'll have to set up a full Steam account Atomkilla. It doesn't cost anything.

Wait, what? If I buy a physical copy of the game I have to run Steam to play it? :?

I'm buying it for a different platform this time. I own the 360 version, but I want the Pc version. That is the only reason I am buying it anyway.

Yup, I don't spend more than $49.99 on a PC game. If they're charging $59.99 for a PC game and it's the same price as a console game, then they'd be getting $10 for free from me. That extra $10 on console is supposed to be a licensing fee for the platform holders and there is no platform holder on PC so that money goes right into the publisher's coffers. But now that people are paying that $60, everyone is going to start charging that. EA's already doing it and so is Zenimax. It's total BS.

Also, I have been boycotting Activision for a while now. Last game of theirs I bought was COD4. And yes, this includes Blizzard games as well. Killed me not to get Starcraft 2, but I don't want a dime of my money going to that idiot Bobby Kotick.

Oh well. *shrug*

If I have to have Steam to play this I will never ever buy it. Ever.

I hear ya.

On the topic, I wonder how long they will keep up further milking this cashcow.
