Until slapping the word "fallout" on a product is no longer guaranteed to bring in millions of dollars from fanboi gamers.

As long as even the people who hate Bethesda are willing to shell out cash in order to play all things fallout, the milking shall continue.

Odd. Do you not buy any games with any DRM? As DRM goes, Steam is pretty far from the worst.

You can buy a console version, then you don't need Steam.

Well there are still (almost) completely DRM free games even today. Granted. That excludes any of the AA Titles. But if someone chose to ignore those. I guess its possible.

I cant remember on the top of my head. But had Witcher 2 some DRM similar to Steam/Ubi-luncher ? In other words something which required you to create some account ?

Crashes be damned(ps3 version), I will get this the moment I have the chance. Damn, it sure looks nifty. If it wasn't for the crashes I would simply spend the next few months playing this game to death.

Steam si the least Intrusive DRM, you can play in offline, and it doesn't close you off your save files if you don't start it up.

The Witcher 2 retail has SecuROM release date security (and maybe something else, I don't remember). The Witcher 2 digital on GOG is DRM-free.

All Witcher 2 copies are DRM free, they removed it in a patch. Caused quite a stir with Atari IIRC.

The only thing I have to say about this is: someone give me back my money!

I bought the vanilla game and all the DLCs - except for GRA, because GRA is not available in my country on PSN. And now they are teasing me saying - you can have GRA, but you have to pay for all other DLCs and the vanilla game again!

This is crazy - because I totally love the game and I would like to have all the DLCs sooo much...

So the release date is today and I can hardly stop my eyes bleeding reading comments under official FB announcement , like "Fallout New Vegas was not close to the quality and awesomeness of fallout 3" ... Why people like this are allowed to reproduce ?

40 Dollars for the game with all the DLCs, that's less then HALF of what I hve payed for my Game along with 4 out of the 5 DLCs (DM, HH, OWB, GRA) huh, that happens for buying things on release year...... and buying Collector's editions.

It was worth it for the poker chips, at least that's what I keep telling myself.

For my money, the hardcover copy of All Roads is what made it worth it, considering that the difference in release price between the special edition and the vanilla release was equal to or less than what what you'd pay for something like that.

I might shorten that sentence to more accurately reflect the reality of that situation: "The milking shall continue." Fallout's a storied franchise, which is how they generated their initial buzz, and God knows I've suffered under my own fair share of True Believer™ Brand righteous indignation, but the new games are fun in their own right, and the hard-bitten old guard of the franchise isn't exactly a make-or-break demographic for Bethsoft's bottom line. If we were, they wouldn't have gotten away with F3 in the first place. New Vegas, which was marketed more towards our sensibilities, actually did worse.

I don't remember there being data of the long-run sales of Fallout: New Vegas, but it shipped more copies than Fallout 3 initially. I don't remember seeing any indication that it did worse, besides VGChartz with its often wildly inaccurate guesstimates.

That, and having the Platinum Chip. With the Collectors Edition, you can see and hold something that does not actually appear in the game except as an item in your inventory. As a quest item, you cannot drop it in the game and look at it.
