Fallout of Nevada

Hi Master92,

Thanks a lot, now I can launch the game.

Anyway, I have another problem now: after creating a character, I start in a vault and I can't scroll into the screen. Every sides are blocked except bottom.
I tried to install hi-res patch for fallout 2, but it doesn't the problem, and the little interface you added in the UI is right in the center of the screen.

Do you have an idea? This never happened to me before, it's weird.

Thanks for helping me!

This one has already been solved here, check this out:

There is a link and guide of what to do.

What the FUCK.

My character was not a tough character. She wasn't suited to combat; in fact, she had the "Good Natured" trait. That's fine; I like a challenge. However, it made things at Hawthorne very difficult. I had to spend a lot of time in the wasteland running around, collecting weaponry and gaining levels. Then I finally push into Hawthorne and see I don't even need much in skills (lockpick, maybe) to get things done.

Fine. Whatever.

Nonetheless, I get the SoS, lug it all the way back to the Vault, dodging wild dogs and raiders all the way. It took a damn long time, but I did it. I finally, SoS in hand, arrive in Peter's office. What does he do? Does he throw me a party? Does he give me a curt nod and go on his way? Does he show off some of the sneering ignorance that would go on to become the culture of Vault City? No. He does none of those things.

Instead, he stares at me in stony-faced silence, refusing to open dialogue. And then, after a few awkward seconds, he shoots me in the brain.

What the fuck is that about?

Simply combat. It seems that once I'm in his field of vision, he has a few seconds before he gets sick of me and just opens fire. My attempts to talk to him produce nothing - no pause, no message, no float, no speech. Like trying to talk to a piece of generator scenery - I can click, and the game seems to acknowledge that I'm clicking, but it just doesn't give any sort of result.

Does town reputation have anything to do with this? I'm kind of Villified at the moment (apparently Vault residents don't like it when you take several months to return with the device they're counting on for survival).

:D  Oh my gods, you had me laughing so hard I nearly fell out of my chair! Your comedic timing is excellent, sir. :notworthy:

Maybe everyone else in the city has died already, and he's the last survivor who also should have died, but his hatred of you and his desire for vengeance kept him alive just long enough to carry out that one final act of revenge.

Kinda reminds me of Indiana Jones vs. the sword-wielder. Classic!

(p.s. no offense; I can clearly see why you'd be pissed at that point in the game!)

I'm hoping it's a scripting error that can be fixed with a simple patch, but honestly, if I have to restart...I think I'll bite the bullet and do it. After so much work I usually wouldn't bother, but a lot of the time I've invested was simple frustration because I couldn't get around the challenges. I think I could do so much better the second time around.

Snikers,
have you tried to talk with him while your weapon is holstered? (Just an idea.)

I've tried going up to him unarmed, unarmoured and even with the SoS in hand. It just makes it easier for him to execute me.

I've also experienced this bug, but never reported it to Alexander, so maybe he doesn't know about the problem yet at all. You can inform him, i suppose.

As for the bug, no, i couldn't find a solution, i've started a new game again. It wasn't so painful since i wanted to try some new features ("fixes" still have been coming regularly thereat) and i already knew how to survive in this wasteland of FoN.

Hi All - Long time forum reader, first time poster. First off, just wanted to say great job to the people who made this mod. Very impressive. I've played most of the FO2 mods and custom FOT maps/campaigns available here and am amazed and appreciative of the great work the Fallout modding community does in providing creative fresh content for my favorite games.

I do have another motive for posting as I'm hoping to get an answer to some questions. I've really enjoyed playing this mod and generally feel that I know what is going on despite that I'm playing an unofficial translation. However, it seems to me that my character is unable to solve certain quests due to a low speech skill (18). I meet people who can help me but I can't convince them to do so. And they don't seem to want anything from me. I'm thinking that I'm missing some speech options due to my low skill. If anyone knows: Are there many speech checks in this mod? Do the requirements grow as the game progresses? Don't want to start pouring points into Speech only to find out later in the game that I've wasted my points and have an underpowered character as a result.

The topic of translating FoN to English was mentioned at the official site, what's its status now and how's it being made? =)

Not sure if this is a new bug but I I've been playing the version Master92 posted on Aug 18th plus the English translation and I'm crashing to desktop when I am in the lower level of the radio tower and try to go back up the stairs.

Thanks Master92

Just tested it out and the fix worked when I just went downstairs and came back up. However, when I went downstairs and spent some time down there doing some stuff, it crashed to desktop when I tried to go back up.

I am still really enjoying this mod. Luckily there is plenty of other stuff to do for now but if there is a way to resolve the issue I'd appreciate a heads up.

For those who can't speak Russian, there is a debate (or rather voting) on the topic of the future of the mod. Since Alexander Poshelyuzhin is busy IRL, he suggested two ideas: 1) Release what he has and the some addons (like we have on F3/FNV) time to time or 2) Release some final version and then make the mod editable for other modders.

If I may add my bit about it, I think the mod is fine as it is. First we need some final version, then proper english (czech... whatever) translation and after that modders can finally start working on possible addons, realizing new game ideas.

Tom 9k - I played the unofficial English translation of the mod until such a point that I could no longer continue due to the translation failing at a key point in the game. To give you an idea of how far I progressed in the mod, my char was almost level 16 with minimal grinding for xp....

For what it is worth, I tend to agree with you that the mod is fine how it is. I did not notice any bugs that weren't related to the translation. The mod is huge and I was having alot of fun playing it. Assuming the main quest can be resolved in the current version, there is more than enough content already.

Would love to have a proper English translation however...

Is there is a Russian / English speaker, familiar with the Fallout universe, that is willing to put in 200+ hours. This mod deserves a quality translation.
