Fallout 2 mod Fallout: Sonora

What version of the game are you using? Are you running it with Sonora.exe, Fallout2.exe, sFall, or Fallout 2 CE? 1.15 added a '3d' targeting image for power armor. Maybe something is amiss there?

I just tested and I get a crash too.

Testing a little more, and it seems it might be weapon specific, rather than the target.

Seems to be specific to 1.15, and to, so far, guns targetting humanoids (power armor or not)

Thanks for responding. I'm running with Sonora.exe. I was using unarmed to attack. I was running version 1.14. But if you also got a crash then maybe it's not because of the version then. I just get the crash when I target power armor guys, no matter what weapon I use. It gives the "instruction referenced memory" crash thing when it tries going into the targeting image.

I think the crashes I was getting had to do with another aspect of my testing environment, so let's ignore them.

So regarding yours, I'm not sure what help I can give you. I can only run macOS versions of Fallout 2 CE. I would suggest trying Fallout 2 CE (windows version) and Fallout 2.exe and see if you get the same crash. It could be something to do with Sonora.exe. Also, are you seeing a power armor 3d target, or a large humanoid?

No sweat! Well done wrapping it up!

Could you DM me with the link for the walkthrough, I’d like to check it out?

EDIT: I looked for Sonora mod walkthroughs on a few search engines, but I've come up empty-handed on my pursuit. Closest thing to that is the mod's wiki, which is helpful, but I don't think comparing it with, let's say Per J. walkthrough, would be a fair comparison.
Yes, that's what I'm referring to. The Wiki. It's not a real walkthrough, but most quests are listed and give a good overview, I think. I'm sometimes a bit puzzled about what the actual quest is and how to proceed.

I'm not seeing anything. The game just crashes immediately before it can even bring up the target image. But it seems that no one else has this issue though so it's probably on my end. I'll try Fallout 2 CE and Fallout 2.exe and maybe fiddle around with stuff later, I'll figure it out eventually.
But thanks a lot for responding. This mod is incredible and I applaud your hard work. God bless you.

Hello! I'm using version 1.14 with its DLC and I have a problem with the sunglasses that give more than 1 charisma, when I put them on they don't give me more charisma, the strange thing is that if they are on and I exchange them with any other object in the inventory it takes away 1 charisma, if I do it again it takes away 1 again, until I reach one, I do all this in the inventory, has this happened to anyone else? Thanks! It doesn't correct itself if time passes, for example

Are you usnig Foxx's release? if not then update to 1.15 asap

If You are using Foxx's release please be advised that foxx's release comes with a trinket slot mod it is where you should put the glasses if you are using Foxx's release ( by using the "use" hand icon from rightclick menu on the glasses while in iventory) remember this is only the case with foxx's relese not with pure Nevada Band's relese

Where are the links to these versions?

Nevada Band's website lists Sonora 1.5 as current release and Pyran's database has Sonora 1.05. @Cambragol 's translation is meant for 1.14 and from what I see on nuclear-city.ru the current version is 1.15.

No mate Cambrachad's Translation is up to date a.k.a 1.15

it's the Foxx's Release that's 1.14+.. foxx's stuff is available from rutracker.org

so not a place for the faint hearted, especially if you can't block upload in your bittorrent client, and for example live in Poland ;p

Hey y'all, need some help. Every time I try to enter Phoenix, the game crashes. I get in between the 2 buildings and I get an error message. I am running version 1.14 with the up-to-date English translation mod. Any help would be appreciated. Attached is my error message.

Edit: I found earlier threads that recommended disabling the bookseller mod. After doing so, the crashes have stopped.

So, did the 'slots floor' and sewers with indigents only load after you deactivated the seller?
That surprises me, as the character / location loaded correctly on my end in a previous session. The NPC has a distinct model, I suppose the mod creator found it more appealing than the good old sprites. I wouldn't think the distinct NPC model is the cause, though, given that other base game characters like 'Dixon' have unique designs too.

Want me to hook up a local seller with skill books? There's other sellers in Phoenix. If so, just say the word.

it probably has to do that within the bookseller mod there's a modified map of downotown on which certain scripts are set to spawn critters near a certain object the scripts are new so they are aded and executed, however if the mod's dat is low in priority order the map gets overwritten by game files and Phoneix:downtown gets it's usual map where ther is no certain chest around which certain female and certain mutt should spawn, and a certain other script to spawn stuff within the chest, if stuff is to spawn within an unexisting object ( due to original unmodified map being loaded) a crash occours..

that dude's problems were due to bookseller mod and it's english translation were given improper priorities in mods-order.ini.

both of them need to have better priority than english translation (a.k.a being loaded after the translation) and bookseller translation, needs to be loaded additionally with increased priority than the bookseller mod..
I don't remember was it setting it higher or lower in the list to do so, but it has to be done for 1.14..

anyways Foxx has updated to 1.15 so i suggest that guy with crashes quits bumfucking around and updates his game.

Thanks for the info, I find it fascinating.
I wonder if this is one of the reasons mappers in the 90s have distantly placed shopkeeper's footlockers (or similar object), far from the players. I don't remember precisely which containers can be destroyed by explosives, but I recall some of them disappearing after being blasted, like a certain metal locker in Dr. Morbid's basement in the original Fallout game. If an object spawn was triggered by player action(s) inside such footlockers, but they were no longer available, it'd get messy and likely result in a crash to desktop, taking into consideration what you just told me.

that Morbid Footlocker destruction was scripted btw, not an actual engine stuff.. the locker ws trapped and required medicorely high 80% traps in order to 100% succed in disarming it you could fail or just open it and trigger the trap.. the door was scripted that if you triger the trap the locker bursts and gets destrouyed.. ( i personally played with that door a bit when Mr.Stalin introduced party skill use in sfall-exteded i sort of swapped that sfall into EtTu)..

and those info about spawning stuff inside other objects that don't exist on the map is a general probelm, even Goat Boy hat this when making his new companions,, he had to dealy the script spawning stuff on comaonions that spawned on the map.. somwhere in the past those scripts launched in inverse order causing the game to crash..
so it is a known engine issue

Can't get Sfall to work with Sonora on 1.15, plus, the exit grids are bugged out on my end and I didn't alter anything it just look like that for some reason other than changing my resolution to 1600x900, but never had this issue in any Fallout or mod, not even on Foxx's build of Sonora

Don't try to mislead ppl here You mention Foxx's build but you obviously use Fallout2_CE that's recommended by CambraChand..

the maps in that build are from Vanilla Sonora, they don't have the nessecary Hi-res map-edge boarder files.. those are present in Foxx's release, yet not present in Fallout2_CE build. besides Fallout2 ce does not support all sfall features, hi res map edges being one of them..

TL : DR
#1 You need a genuine Fallout2 exe version, not some reverse engineered mod exe build from the ground up..
#2 you need hires map-boarder files..

without the above it aint gonna work

Sorry, no misleading people or anything, I played the Foxx build last year (I think it was 1.11), should have specified that.

Yes, I'm using the Fallout2 CE (the Improved version, don't know if there's a difference between the two).

About the second, It came with Fallout 2 on Steam, right?
