Fallout Tactics... What's wrong with it?

The only things I didn't liked about Fallout tactics:

-Huge map and poor free roam.

-Not many options to deal with things, you just follow orders.

-Impossible to bring your vehicles to missions.

I went "FFFFUUUUUU-" when I finally found the tank and barely had an use for it since the whole area is full of walls... >.>

How can i not love Fallout Tactics? The demo was the first Fallout thing i ever played. And i especially love what they did with the explosives. A mine or a grenade, it rapes you and everything around you. And the shotgun. Now THAT is a shotgun.

Note: St. Louis mission was orgasmic.

I died like 5 times before getting the sniper rifles and figuring out how to kill muties with the APC without destroying the vehicle >.>

Yes, that was perhaps my favorite mission in Tactics. Although I never used the APC there. For me it was all-out SAW (The extra xp for hardcore mode allowed all squad-members to get enough skill points in big guns... also, if I'm not mistaken, I got Fast Shot for everyone in that mission).

Well the muties in there are much stronger than your squad so the APC and the snipers are the only real advantage you have against them.

I just get some repair kits and only leave the APC to loot the big guns and ammo, while avoiding the trenches since muties in there can easly destroy the vehicle with their .50 weapons.

My tactic there was to crawl through the trenches in sneak mode, get two characters with SAW's into firing positions with at least 67% to-hit, then fire. Against muties with .50-cal MGs I tried to use 3+ characters.
Also the important thing is to shoot from a different trench (so, if they knock you out, they can't finish you off).

Now, the fortification across a moat was a lot more difficult, sure... I don't remember ever finishing that mission without retries...

Haha you see the fort is suposedly where they keep General Barnaky so you're not really suposed to enter there... XD

To make sure of that the devs placed invisible mines that kill you on one hit and gave the muties at the entrace special .50 ammo with 500 damage.

Too bad the demo missions were actually better than those in the final game.

not invisible, just VERY hard to spot. also, its hardly 'special' ammo DU .50 was soooo satisfying Vs Behemoths (tactics one's.. not Failout 3)

Personally I had a high sneek char edge forward and a dual sniper team Even muties don't like having their heads removed, with them in place I had my remaining team (shotty's and explosives) sweep round the map, it was then possible to create a flank snipers position to lure muties away from the main entrance.

some careful footwork and balls to the wall combat shotgun action made a swift entry, there was however one mutie (boss mutie) that remained in the central bunker of the compound, he has .50 DU and easily kills any single troop in one go, so only a prolonged range battle with 'pop-up' snipers would suffice to take him down.

Even just typing that reminds me of how great Fallout: TinyTots was for fun tactical gameplay!

Behemoths are awesome.

They're the only robots I like in the game.

I really hate their critical hits tough...

Think I played Tactics twice, from what I recall it lacked consistency, each mission was like its own little story and there was no attachment to the character like there was in FO and FO2. If they died you might reload just because they were good at killing shit.

That said I would love to see a FO:T type game for something portable like the DS that you pick up once in a while.

It'd be great to have a WRPG on the DS instead of JRPGs.

I haven't played FO:T yet. It's sitting on my desktop, but I haven't felt like switching into windows to play it just yet.

I found the coloration to be the biggest issue (too bright)…as well it would have been nice if there had been a few more varieties. But there is something clumsy about the first Power Armor design, and that adds to its appeal…it’s not some invincible killing machine.

Well coloring was a problem to pretty much every critter in FOT.

Just acept some random encounters and you'll see purple komodos and yellow dogs... >.>

The Mid West Power Armour was one of the things I liked most, the design to be more precise. Otherwise I have no other remarks, besides that is was too guided, but still I would give the GAME 9,5 out of 10.

My favorite bug was that when I put my current weapon from my hand to the other it reloads itself for no APs and I had lots of fun using that xD

I so love the rad armour in the game, it wasn't great but it looked so damn cool. Most of the aesthetics I love and I still think it's the prettiest Fallout game.

The Power Armour is o.k I guess. I always think the power armour looks chronological with the original being 50's (light green and chrome), PA being 80's/90's (dark and industrial) and Tactics being 20x (sleek and mechy).
F3's just looks kinda shite.

Yeah Fallout 3's PA looks too much like a Storm Trooper.

I liked the FO3 PA.

The T-51b doesn't look too good on Fallout 3 anyway... Sure how they got the 45-d doesn't make any sense but still...

And I really liked the Enclave PA, tesla and hellfire not so much...
