Fallout website up and Vision Statement revealed

Bright, shiny and clean, that's Bethesda and thus the new webpage. I do not like it neither do I think it fits to Fallout.

but that's beside the point, yes there are differences, but not differences that alter or affect the visual representation, the changes are extremely subtle.

I don't really see how you can miss it. The original vaultboy has different linework than the 'new' one. It has simple, "flowing" lines, it gives the impression it has been drawn in a single go. The new one looks like a puzzle of glued-on parts "inspired" on the original drawings.

And yes, it makes a difference, as it takes away part of the 50's vibe in those cartooney little characters. Take a look at other, similar cartoons from that time period, you'll see that the flow of the linework is smooth. The original vaultboy pics were extremely well executed, followed all the maniere of the period's illustration cartoons, it would easily pass as a character genuinely invented in the fifties.

The new one, ugh. It's not horrendous, but it's not the same thing. It lacks the flow and good linework of good 'ol cold war illustration characters.

booo why did you have to bring this back!
Wooz is apparently the go-to man around her for art critique, and he pretty concisely described the difference between the original Vault Boy and the new one from Bethesda.

Besides, Per summoned him, and when a big purple dinosaur ( ) summons, you listen.

i absolutely hate and despise what beth is doing to the fallout franchise. it is an abomination and does great disservice to developers of the past and the fanbase established upon the first 2 games.

now this project " fallout 3 " that beth is working on seems like it may be a decent action game. certianly NOT a RPG but hey, fable was really fun to play a few times through; hopefully this one will do the same. i certianly wont buy it for 1-3 months after it comes out (for the patches - see bioshock frustrations). depending on reviews, most noteably the ones i can get from members of this site, i may wait untill the price drops to $40 or maybe even $30 but at 29.99 i would def pick it up.

BTW Per is bt all accounts a little purple lizard not a big dinosaur. :twitch:
I know, but lizard makes for less of an implied connection to Barney :P (which is probably the point...)
