Fallout website up and Vision Statement revealed

The Todd? He couldn't look any more geekier even with taped glasses and overly large buck teeth.... He probably hitches his suspendered pants all the way up to his neck. I hope its obvious I aint a fan of his.

I was talking about the Vault Boy cartoon. The originals were a bit different, especially nose.

Please check below:

The lines that make up their bodies are strikingly different there. The b/w one is dynamic, the colour one is puffy.

Vault Suit - Check
Sexy Wavy Hair - Check
Charismatic Smile - Check
Faithful Sequel - Fuck no, son.

The art seems good, at least they're trying.
With the gameplay, it seems like they basically just went, "How could we sell more copies? Let's play Call of Duty and Halo to find out!"

The 50s people on Bethesda's website seem off too. Will wait for Wooz to comment.

In the meantime, Jay "RadHamser" Woodward is discussing the topic I started over this here. Not sure what he's trying to say

Another one, this time difference is clearer. Also, the image I'm comparing to is also static.

This has got to be the most nitpicky argument ever.

I mean really.

It looks pretty damned the same, all the differences are EXTREMELY small.

I dunno, I don't have an artist's eye. Remember what Wooz said on the topic?

Fallout's style was largely inspired by pulp covers from the fifties, with a well-defined linear drawing as a base, warm colors, subtle color hues and shading gradients. The material we have been shown of Bethesda's Fallout 3 contains pictures whose primary focus are sharp light contrasts, depriving them of color and shading mid-tones.

I'm not an artist myself, but that sounds like a pretty significant change in style, even if people with no eye for colours like you and me think it looks identical

 I am an artist.

but that's beside the point, yes there are differences, but not differences that alter or affect the visual representation, the changes are extremely subtle.

Even the pictures of vault boy from fallout 1 and 2 vary a little bit.

It reminds me why people at local comics club that I used to visit were taught to use different lines...

I think the problem lies in that Bethesda is working from images created by BIS, while original fallout was made from original ideas and copying history. Kind of like making a photocopy of a photocopy and losing quality in the content. However I think the larger problem is the design of the power armor! Looks like some halloween costume.

Have to say that the chair and the vent in the "father dialogue" screenshot sends shivers down my spine. Very nice copy. Anyway, we can fix the Pip Boy images if it's that atrocious.

 Okay fine I'm an art major, but that's good enough.
I suggest you seriously rethink what you believe. I suggest you read Sharon Shellman's view on school degrees. http://www.nma-fallout.com/article.php?id=36220 But damn what does she know right?

Beth's Vault Boy looks a bit skinnier to me compared to original FO1.

Whenever I see Beth's version, it looks like he's got an artificial smile.

It's true, what DOES she know?

Opinions are like assholes, blah blah blah cliche.

Having been an original dev does not make her any sort of expert on art theory.

I'm not an artist, and differences that affect the impression of the character are obvious to me. *summon Wooz*
