Fallout Zero screenshots

Well.... The Sense of the UNLIMITED SYSTEM is, to create own Games, with own Items, Critters...etc.
The Vault-Tec-Germany Group only want to show with Fallout Zero, what you can do with the Unlimited System. Its also prossible to make a Diablo clone, or a Gothic clone, or else.
You only need some grafics and you can make your game .
Thats the reason they dont use the Fallout-Engine.

No *I* think you can't do a Diablo clone because AFAIK the whole game mechanics are hardcoded. So if the system is roundbased, it's hardcoded and can't be changed. You don't use any scripting language so to change these things you need to recompile the sources.

In IanOut the whole game mechanics like weapons, damage calculations, and dialogues will be scriptdriven so you can change almost every aspect of the game without compiling the source code. Besides that it will be (theoretically) possible to make a Diablo clone with IanOut, too. Because even the roundbased fighting system will be scriptdriven, this would be even easier than in FO Unlimited IMO.

Thats right Baracuda.

BUT: I said CLONE! Clones are not HUGE games with spectaculary effects, etc......its just 4 fun

BTW: Wirds ian-out auch auf Deutsch geben? Unlimited schon^^

In Fall jemand ein Translacion macht, das ist sehr moeglich, denke ich

But what do I know ;)

i translate: Will Ian-Out be available in german? Unlimited will be...
If the community translates it: YES. And for a translation I need to open the script files with a text editor and just edit the file and save it. That's all

There are some other aspects to Fallout Unlimited: You can create the game without learning computer language.
The problem is, that you cannot use as many animations in Unlimited Games because the single gifs have to be unziped. But you can also create new aspects in the game, particularly the design.

maybe Fallout Zero can be used on Linux. (Answer question).

When Fallout Zero does work with the Unlimited System than I will think about dooing a Mod with the same aspects, but thats far, far away and Glow will kill me if I talk about this before Fallout Zero has finished.

AFAIK you're using Visual Basic and the Direct X SDK as basis for Fallout Unlimited. So the chances to see this engine on linux are quite *greatwordplay*

limited

Why can't they just make a Fallout mod? They have ripped EVERYTHING except the players. Jesus I had actually hoped that I might got to see some nice shots, but hell no.

The first project is in planning stage since 5 years and never released a single file. The second one tries to port C# to linux and seems to work. But they're not using C#, they're using VISUAL Basic.
DotGNU comes with an early version of the Visual Basic .NET compiler. But that's irrelevant. DotGNU provides a Linux port of CLR interpreter and .NET Framework 2.0, and thus should allow execution of MSIL applications regardless of where and how they were built.

I suspect they are using VB 6.0 or earlier, however.
