Shole has created a short tribute film to the Fallout universe, "Man."<blockquote>i made this as a tribute project to the Fallout franchise
Shaped to appear as a Vault-Tec advert - scaring the population of the nuclear menace.
All images are there for a purpose, referring to each section of the song's lyrics in a twisted way.
Made completely out of legally free video material - all under the creative commons licence, downloaded from archive.org, and edited in Adobe After Effects.
Download: http://gamma.nic.fi/~aammpp/man.mov [It's 12 MB -Kotario]
Or stream in a window: http://sholen.persiist.com/works/player.php?file=http://gamma.nic.fi/~aammpp/man.mov&x=320&y=245</blockquote>
Good work Shole!

Aaaaaw... I just keep wondering why do people use this sh@*?!ty Quicktime format, that is playable only on Macs and Windows (with some really stupid player)? Why don't you people use standard formats like AVI and Matrioszka?

Nice clip anyway :-)

Some hardcore Mac people feel the same way about all non-Mac computers and file formats. He's just trying to make sure everyone can view it.

thanks :-)
the track is nat king cole's nature boy
as i said in the post, all video footage is from archive.org (except a few short clips made by me + the indian tv logo from fallout)

there's nothing wrong with quicktime - except the utterly shitty player
so i suggest you get quicktime alternative
http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm
it comes bungled with mediaplayer classic, which is also one of, if not the best video player there is
there is also real alternative, which allows mediaplayer classic to play realmedia files without having to install the crappy adware-player aswell

edit: oh, crap
i misread your post
i assume you're using linux or somesuch?
i will upload an xvid version later today or tomorrow

I really liked the video. Where exactly is the WWI/ war footage around the middle of the video from? Never used archive.org so I'm a bit lost. Thanks. - Colt

Windows Media Player for Mac is true to the Microsoft design tradition.
It's a pig for Mac hardware resources.

Might, each, be too committed to their platforms of origin.

I note the suggestions for the PC, and will follow up on the players suggested above.
The browsers on my PC have better built in download managers. The ones I've tried for Mac are "trial ware" and do not inspire paying the fee.

Will 'try' to download this while 'trying' to fix the dryer.

Oh me. Subdue my anticipation.

It's great, although the final "Vault Tec" shot seems a bit odd, considering the fact that you are using the roman representation for the year 1947, which isn't entirely logical considering the fact that it's labeled vault tec, and vault tec probably only arose a while later.

Oh, and I'm quite sure videolan (VLC) can play the file under Linux, so it should be no problem.

Good stuff.

Sander, what exactly is it you find strange about the use of the Roman numerals?
I've seen (and regularly at that) them used for modern material. Have you never seen MMI or MMII etc at the end of something?
Maybe it's just something we do over here, the BBC does it on most of their programmes. :?

About the only place I see using Roman numeral dating systems is in books occasionally... Not counting the fact that most people are too illiterate to read them, they take up more space than the Arabic counterpart. - Colt
