Far Cry 2

It's still annoying as fuck. You get your car shot to pieces and have to make it stop smoking by turning a bolt on the cooler with your torque wrench.

What difficulty are you playing on?

I play on normal, and don't have these problems. Usually I drive right through the checkpoint without problems (yes, they hurt me a bit, but that regenerates).

Sometimes they follow you, too.

I think what he really meant was that once you've taken the trouble to clear a checkpoint, you want it to be cleared.

What are you, retarded? You can just drive through.

They usually follow me around with cars, which also happen to be much faster than the one I'm driving (they loose that awesome speed once I get into them though, probably cause of immersion and stuff), and if I destroy cars at checkpoints they respawn too. This game made me turn down difficulty to normal not because fights were too challenging, but because they were happening too often and it got old, so I wanted to be able to end them quicker.. And I never die on normal, so the tension part is lost.

Regarding my retardation, I take no position. You'll just have to ask around I guess. Nor will I reply to that tone again.

They usually give up the chase/run into a tree pretty quickly. It's not difficult to figure out. You keep your car in good nick and you should be able to outdrive them.

If you're in a jeep; hop into the gunner's seat and spin around insta-killing the drivers of any jeeps behind you.

If you're in the buggy, you can straight up outrun them... or you can get out and waste them with the rpg7/gustav/grenade launcher.

Playing hardcore by the way, just got to the second map (desert) and I haven't had any problems with vehicles chasing me (snipers/mortars are another story).

So now ive played fc2 for good 10 hrs.

It has its flaws... Like there are instances when the ai really acts weird, and this happens from time to time. For example hostiles that have allready spotted me run past me, turn, run back and then start shooting, like they couldnt relly control their running length( this has happened only twice now tho) They also go nuts with the cars and ram into trees and off the cliffs if they spot me and i can use this too easily in right situations.

The missing of prone doesnt really bother me as crouch works well with all the bushes and high grass, on the other hand it wouldve been cool if there was some sort of indicator to tell why i was cought sneaking as sometimes it feels really frustrating when there doesnt seem to be any reason why i was detected. This i dont take as too big of a problem because it brings more challenge, which i like.

The game runs smoothly, looks pretty good and the setting is rather intresting, but feels lifeless at times, i saw plenty of animals and such in trailers but it feels plain dead in the wilderness.

What i like is that scouting actually has impact in the game and like how its implemented, also the athmosphere strikes me well from time to time.

Overall quite enjoyable experience as i havent played any fps for few months now and id give it good 8/10.... for now

Why did the make a sequel? I thought the first one was pretty much FPS garbage. *shrugs*

Regardless if you thought it was garbage, a LOT of people really enjoyed the first FarCry. I being one of those people. That being said, I enjoyed the huge open maps of the first game and being able to reach your goal in one of dozens of ways. However, The story was absolute crap :)

Played it for two hours today. Thought it was pretty meh. I find the game to be very boring and gunfights and situations rather generic. :? Will give it another try but so far I'm not impressed at all. I even prefer Crysis so far ( and I don't like it at all ).

Crysis is a better game.

Both games have bullshit story, but Crysis has less generic fights and a more driven story. AND much better graphics.

I agree with pretty much all of that, I think in general I like Nomad from Crysis a lot as an FPS protagonist. Far Cry however...idk. I had such high hopes for it and all I'm doing is the same 3 or 4 missions over and over again in different parts of the map. But on the subject of the way crysis looks vs far cry, I think that Far cry is much less of a system hog and even on medium still looks amazing.

The fast respawning guard points are annoying, but you can always pick the route with the least resistance and many can be simply avoided by going off-road.

That and you can just speed through them, turn around and shoot anyone who follows you, although the guard posts are getting more heavily defended as I'm getting further into the game so maybe this won't work so well later on.

Graphically I think the game is just amazing, I got the PC version via steam and playing with everything maxed out it just looks amazing and runs surprisingly well on an almost 2 year old PC (8800GTX).

I love how explosions affect the environment, making trees shake and lose their leaves, the grass and bushes catching fire. Too bad the flamethrower isnt very cool, it should have been more like the one from Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

In the end, it's just an FPS though, if the combat itself doesnt appeal to you there's really no reason to play the game.

HALP! I tried to quickload a game because the phone was bugging out (it was ringing, but there was nobody on the line) and the game crashed. Now I can't get it running again!

Got a question. Are the guns we see in upgrade options all the weapons player can get or are there tons more? Currently its selection is meh, saw maybe 2-3 that suit my taste, but where are the rest. Since you can buy most stuff with diamonds im surprised you cant get hold of some hi grade hardware. This game could really use a patch similar to JA2 v1.13.

Pretty sure there are only those guns. It's a lot of them, though. They cover all your needs, trust me. Basically the only weapon you'll need to destroy convoys is the IED (on the matter of how politically correct having IEDs in a game is, I'll leave for someone else to discuss). Weapon selection is actually very good, as every single one has its own function in the game (maybe with the exception of a couple of assault rifles and pistols).

I've been playing this on PC for the last day, and even though I didn't like it at first, it's really growing on me. I'm starting to like it. Especially as the graphics and physics crush the Xbox 360 version.

Fixed the bug btw, loaded an earlier game. Pretty sure this will become a sideshow games once I get my hands on Fallout 3.

am i the only one bothered by the fact that all you ever pick up is generic "ammo"? no matter what you equip, be it the mp5, the g3 or even the AS50. kinda lame when you see the details that went into the firearms, elaborate un-jam animations and such.

It simplify things. A lot. Imagine having to go across the map just to get the right ammo. And you already have to go across the map plenty of times.

well since you have to go to the arms dealer anyway do get decent (i.e. non-breaking) hardware, why not purchase ammo the same way? all arms dealers on the map are the same in any case and carry all your stuff regardless of where you are. i see how it makes things easier. i still don't like it. :)

I see what you're getting at, and yes, it would've been cool. But it's not really the focus of the game and probably not something that should keep you from playing the game.
