Far Cry 2

Also, the blur is troublesome - everything is shining bright in daytime (it's Africa, I know) and I can't always decipher what the hell am I looking at (also, I'm not playing on highest details).

Bloom on? Personally, once I turned off Bloom, vision became much clearer.. And it also looks much better without Bloom, at least to me. Plus you get a few FPS more.
But sometimes I still have a problem locating where the hell is this douchebag who is shooting at me.. I think lowering details might even help here, since you get less vegetation.

I'm really looking forward to GTA IV.

Played it on 360, it's kinda... Too much. The mobile phone, internet dating, etc...

I don't like games trying to emulate real life.

As for safehouses in Far cry 2, they should've added a "wait" mode in the PC version, where you could just wait anywhere on the map for it to become nighttime. Smells like a bad 360 port to me.

Also, I wish they would've made a more realistic African state, with civilians and bigger towns. Maybe a central city. Now it just feels like a huge LARP arena with everyone attacking you for no apparent reason.

This game is a failed attempt at sandbox. GTA still pulls it off much better. They should've based the game on that concept, with a more living world. Where are the herds of water buffalos? The roving packs of lions? The large overpopulated slums of the Sahel zone? I'm very disappointed in this game.

Think the PS3 game Africa with bad guys and guns, and we're headed in the right direction.

Has anyone tried playing Bully from Rockstar? I was thinking about trying that to unlease my FO3 frustration on.

Okay, 9 hours into FC2 and I LOVE IT even more.

There is many many many things that could be improved, but just as its the case with Stalker, even with those flaws this is one spectacular atmospheric game.

Bully isn't bad.

It's fun to play for a while, though I don't find myself scampering to play it again.

So how is the map editor (gimme some juicy details) and how much space does each map take up on the hard drive? I was thinking about getting it on the 360 for that alone.

How exactly do you expect to kill someone stealthily with a machete?

Ever held one? It's a pretty big, wobby, thin blade. Mostly used to chop down small bushes. You'd need to land at least two or three well-placed blows into a person to kill.

Be that as it may, you need only one blow to kill someone with machete in FC2.. You not just swing with it, you get this cool animation of "stealth-like" kill. Which should make it kinda stealthy. But it doesn't.

It take two hits with the stealth animation, the first one sends them sprawling and the second impales them on the ground. I haven't been able to do stealth very well at all, either with the machete or silenced weapons, even when making no noise.

It's very easy to use and the interface is relatively intuitive but it's purely for multiplayer maps - you can't even spawn enemies, let alone make single player levels. Quite underwhelming compared to say the Crysis editor, or even the Far Cry 1 editor which could create AI. It's probably going to be more well received for the console crowd though.

Edit: the maps I've messed with are all under 10mb, size shouldn't be a problem.

Are there any benchmarks out there for Far Cry 2 ?
I would like to know how it would run on my Pc.
My GPU is a 8800 Ultra and my CPU is a Intel Core 2 Duo E6600.
I also have 2 GB of ram.

You definitely don't have to worry with PC like that. It should run just fine on Ultra High/Very High (I wasn't able to see the difference between those so I'm sticking with Very High) and maybe even 4xAA, depending on resolution you want play on.

Ugh. Now that I've read this, Far Cry 2 sounds all the less attractive.

No lean?

No modding to nuke the Rambo-style health?

No stealth?

No slow respawn?

Sounds suspiciously like STALKER. Unmodded STALKER.

What bothers me is the SecuRom program I heard is on this, I really don't want that on my PC.

If you apply razor1911 fix before executing exe, none of that crap will bother you.

I did it on my bought copy, and I am not ashamed of it (it works like a charm without bugs or crashes, and they literally stripped it - the exe has 20kb instead of 5 megabytes).

A lot of people use cracks on their legal copies of games to avoid all that SecuRom shit, and it's perfectly fine. Why should only pirates have better versions of games? People who pay for games deserve that too.. :)

Well I hope i won't get banned, but if you will go to gamecopyworld.com, you will be able to find this fix for anything.Including Bioshock.

I am honestly not stealing anything, I got the limited edition of Bioshock, the one with the figure and the music CD.

But why should I install a program on my computer that could possible mess up the OS and doesn't serve as an anti piracy program but rather some monitoring tool.

I love the irony behind this : a crack for a security system that was supposed to prevent the game from being cracked. EPIC FAIL.

Wonder how much a Securom licence costs...if it's more than five bucks, then it's far too much.

I wonder if with the appearance of gog.com and rising resentment towards DRM from gamers will this idiotic stance of the major publishers (UBI,EA,2K) change.Because DRM in music, movies and games is completely useless.
