Fargo clarifies

Speaking of magazines the advert for next month's PC Zone (on sale in July so it'll be the September issue) has a teaser for an annoucement of a top secret project from a 'past master of the art of role-playing games'.

Hmm how many 'past masters' are there now, working on top secret projects?

On topic... I usually play RPGs for their story, which is why I enjoyed TBT so much. It's not often you get something as intentionally inane as that. Last games like that I've seen are Companions of Xanth, Space Quest 4, and Day of the Tenticle.

If you're gonna go compare TBT to those games, maybe I'll have to give the thing a serious try after all. Now you gone and got my hopes up for some potential in a new WL when I was doin just fine before with the pessimism.

Mind you, there are utter "WTF? This is stupid" moments in it that make it seem like utter crap (but they're mostly in the beginning of the game, and a light sprinkling afterwards)... and then there are absolutely golden moments, stuff that made be laugh as hard as "ice cream", "monochrome boys"... and... ugh, it's been too long since the last time I've played DoTT, I can't come up with anything for it...

The Bard is as suave as Roger, a bit more intelligent, but just as inept and unlucky. At least he has better luck with the ladies.

But, mind you, it is really inane, and though not quite in the same vein as the Xanth or DoTT, it's closer to the Space Quest series (well, 1-4 and bits of 6, anyway), but it's got those little gems that are as polished as the other two. IMHO, the best thing about it, is how frustrated the Bard gets with all the cliches and fed-ex quests, and the narrator patronizing him. That, and his inability to remember things in the distant past.

Not exactly a *great* game, but definitely a good game, if you understand what it is, and what it isn't.

I suppose that could be Wasteland 2 info, though is Fargo really a "past master"?

Maybe somebody like DW Bradley?

Could be anything. This is a magazine that in their buyer's guide (to 'the bestest games your money can buy...') has for rpgs:

Oblivion
KotOR
Morrowind
Deus Ex
NWN 2

But hopefully it'll be good news for traditional rpgs fans whatever it is, though given the timing?

Diablo was a masterpiece, but all it shared with Fallout was iso view and nice graphics for the time.

Caucasian, please.
