favorite dead series

R.Graves

Confirmed Retard
Ok so most of us are mourning fallout in some capacity. Odds are some of us mourning other series' as well. This thread is dedicated to paying respects to other dead franchises. Explainations as to why you feel the series is dead (either in spirit or litteraly) would be a nice bonus.

Silent hill may be gone forever.

I miss jack and daxter.

The suffering was great while it lasted.

Resident Evil is a whole new animal nowadays.

Half-life has had me hanging off that cliff for about 9 years.

I don't think Metal Gear will have any future installments, due to Kojima's leaving of Konami and all. Maybe some Pachinko machines and cameos in All-Star type games, but R.I.P main series.

On another note, isn't it funny in light of deaths such as Prince or Chyna that we make a thread for video games? I'm not going to be a hypocrite or anything and say it is in bad taste to make this thread, or claim that celebrity deaths matter at all to people who did not know them personally, but there is a certain irony to it, isn't there?

Oh, Shit I hadn't heard. I feel like such an asshat. I apologize... Idk what else i can do.

Metal Gear is an obvious choice here.
Soulcalibur too, V for was pretty bad and that free to play game they put out a few years ago was completely awful.
Max Payne is very complete, I love that series but I feel it's best left as it is.

  • The Elder Scrolls
  • Good Dungeons and Dragons cRPGs
  • Civilization games (Beyond Earth was so bad)
  • Resident Evil
  • Front Mission
  • Final Fantasy
  • Command and Conquer (technically it is finished but the series didn't deserve to die with such an abomination like C&C 4)
  • Diablo

The succesor to Red Dead Revolver makes no refrences at all to the first game. Might as well be different franchise.

Kingpin: Life of Crime. Never even got to be a franchise.
Crimson Skies. Still lives in books and boardgames, but damn, I liked the PC game.

I didn't like Prince's music (except one or two tracks), but goddamn was he an icon of my times (I'm an 80s kid).

Suikoden. 1, 2, and 5 were amazing. 3 was half amazing until the good team left. 4 was kinda lol. But as an overall series it was stellar. Would love a 6 if they could get the old team back, but... lol #FucKonami. If anything happens it'll be pachinko :/

The Chrono series.
Two games then it dropped dead (I won't acknowledge any damn exclusive spin-offs).
And on top of that I can't even play them without fidgeting with emulators.
Cross is especially irritating to get working.

Do I have to say more?

Command and Conquer (technically it is finished but the series didn't deserve to die with such an abomination like C&C 4)
CNC was so good until that shitstain game came along

The Elder Scrolls
Skyrim was pretty good, but ES Online is awful, and it has denigrated the series

COD has always been shitty (Modern Warfare excepted)

Apparently Battlefield Hardline killed it for many people

I though Halo Reach was the nail in the coffin for Halo, but they pulled it from the brink

Freelancer was such a good game, but they cancelled the sequel to focus on their shitty Xbox
I love that game today, and it came out in 2003.

Space Marine was exceptional, and brilliant, but the company went bust and they cancelled the sequel.

Dawn Of War was an awesome game, but DOW 2 was an literally an RPG, not a strategy game, and DOW 3 isn't coming soon.
