favorite dead series

Skyrim was pretty good, but ES Online is awful, and it has denigrated the series
Depends on what standards you use. If you judge it as game? I would say, it is fun. In some parts even good.
However, if you judge it on previous Elder Scrolls games, it is a clear dowgrade, except with the visuals. But! You could argue, that while the visiuals improved, the size of the game world has become a lot smaller.

A smaller more dense world is preferable to a map thats huge with large stretches of big empty.
*cough* Oblivion *cough* Fallout 3 *cough* I actually think FO4 suffered from the opposite problem, I thought it was too packed in with random shit, New Vegas and Skyrim I think hit a good balance.

It makes me sad that Valve doesn't seem interested in making games at all anymore. Guess they prefer cashing in on Steam and the new Steambox or whatever that console of their's is called.

Really the only series I enjoy today that aren't completely dead in my eyes now are:

The Legend of Zelda: My very first video game series next to Mario and Secret of Mana. Hyped for the new game coming this year.

Pokemon: Just doesn't get old for me, probably because I bring my old team into every new game from the get-go which means I can focus more on the story/minigames/etc rather than grinding levels. Plus my fiance plays it and always gets the opposite game from me (for example, I'd get Pokemon Ruby and she'd get Sapphire) so we can swap/trade unique pokemon with each other and not have to worry too much about that aspect of it. Plus Nintendo really knows how to keep sparking interest by introducing free pokemon DLC-type stuff into the games every couple of months. The latest one's coming out sometime next month I believe and is some sort of new legendary associated with a Japanese Pokemon movie being released.

The Witcher: Though it's a maybe on this one, I haven't actually beaten the first game yet but it's a blast. And since everyone seems to contend Witcher 1 is the worst in the series and I'm still loving the hell out of it, I should be in for a treat with the other 2.

Mhmm ... I dunno. Of course, at some point it becomes repetitive and to large I guess. However, I always had the feeling that Oblivion and Skyrim are way to cramped. Even though they are more or less the same size as Morrowind. But part of the problem is, Morrowind had no instant fast travel and horses. So Morrowind always gave me the feeling like I was playing a massive world of huge size, or well the illusion of it. Where as Skyrim and Oblivion seemed always pretty small. I would double the size of the landmass. But the one thing, that bothers me the most, is the size of their cities. Man ... Skyrim was sooooo disapointing with that.

Do I have to say more?

Duuuuuude, Commandos was amazing, loved the first couple of games.

Ancient Domains of Mystery, I have bled for you. Cried for you. Got swarmed by capital D's and got impaled by the bolts of capital T's.

I died from poison and disease. I got doomed and choked to death while eating. I got blasted by my God's bolt because a Moloch smashed his altar and my God tried to smite it but missed instead, killing me.

I got pwned by animated forests, rabbits breeding out of fucking control, piranha-filled lakes. But I came back. Always came back.

You can take the new, mainstream, casual, graphical versions of yours and shove them down your chaos portal. I never asked for any tilesets. I never asked for poorly synthesized pseuo-classical soundtracks. I had my Neverwinter Nights final boss music at the ready for when I reached D:50. I never fucking asked for any "exploration" or "wizard" mode or whatever the fuck you call those 10-year old modes. Sure, you added some new stuff. But it took you a very long time to add shit I don't care about. So fuck you.

RIP ADOM. My love, my passion, my enemy.

PS Just kidding. The DOS version is still out there for the unrepentent ASCII fans. And, Thomas Biskup, you rock.

Dungeon Keeper. No proper sequels since '99.
Wizardry. No proper sequels since '01.
Might & Magic. The tenth game in 2014 apparently was both, the revival and the deathstruck for the series for not selling enough (or, so I remember one of the devs saying).
B.A.T. No sequels since '92, and it's a bit of an obscure title for anyone of note to really pick it up (despite it having really good grounds to build an interesting noir RPG adventure).

KKND. I loved those games back in the days!

Dungeon Keeper. I loved the first game and i had fun in the second game from what i remeber.

Command & conquer. Everything after Genrals Zero hours was bad/underwhelming.

Resident Evil... Fuck you crapcom! Allthou i guess Revelations 1-2 to a certain exted are great. Sadly the second one is one of the most unoptimized pieces of shit i've played in a long time on PC

F.E.A.R. I don't get the hate for the second game as i thought it was quite good besides the parts where you are driving an armored suit and the console feel it had. 3d one was so shit.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Kinda seeing how there seems to be Stalker clones comming out with a name change. So not really sure about this.

Warlords battlecry. Loved all 3 games even with the semi bad AI and the game crashing + bugs.

CNC was so good until that shitstain game came along

ESO is not bad for an MMO but i guess it is rather underwhelming as an ESO game.

HOW is NV good? Mosto f the map is empty and several locations are so minimal that it is really not worth finding? Thankfully the DLC's were awesome in most aspects.
F3 had either to much in a small area or way to little in a big area. Can't remeber Oblivion.

Ugh, Dungeon Keeper. Such a great game (and the second one). Then EA ruins it with that trash mobile thing. I kind of hate gaming right now :(

Though at least we have some indies to spice things up, so there's that.

Prototype Franchise: After the first game, the killed Alex Mercer and turned him into a second Albert Wesker. They also completly butchered the lore, introduced one of worst characters I have ever played as and made the game easy enough for everyone to play it.

Breath of Fire: Capcom has been ignoring BoF for many years, before they announced BoF 6, which is a grindy, pointless game on a app store. They have never released BoF 4 in europe and only recently BoF 3 got introduced in USA.

Dota 2: I have played this game since beta and it has been getting worse with each and every patch. At this point a guy can't play this game without a party of 4, otherwise he risks losing his sanity. Nobody even tries to become better, russians are everywhere, cosmetics are everywhere, etc. Only Dota 1 lives, but even then not many people play it anymore.

Singularity: The game had a potential, but it was never fully realized and then it was forgotten.

Bioshock: First game was amazing, second one was even better but the last one was just good. Wish there was more to Rapture and big daddies.

I guess those are the games I hat a lot of fun with, except Fallout.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I suppose. I played them after GSC was long gone, but they made quite an impression on me.

Megaman Legends. I bought a 3DS for the next game, and it got cancelled. I learned my lesson, to not buy a console for a game that isn't real yet, but that it was cancelled has made me stay away from Capcom ever since.

Breath of Fire 3 is one of my top 3 favourite games (alongside New Vegas and P4G). Capcom actually seem to have been listening to their fans recently with the Resi remakes and re-releases and similar, so it's possible they might do something good with BoF again. Not like Konami, at least we still have some hope when it comes to Capcom.

I'm gonna go with The Sims.

I mean Sims 1 is very enjoyable, especially with all the countless expansion packs, Sims 2 was remarkable and had so much content/creative potential, And Sims 3, which improved on most areas, but suffered the traditional EA Problems of things that should have been implemented first time around were cut up in to DLC, and it adds features that nobody cares about at the expense of other features.

Then Sims 4 came along, which pretty much took everything everyone loved about 2 and 3, and made them 100X shittier.

Oh, and not to forget Arcanum... that never got to even be a series despite plans for it.

I guess, though they knew that fans didn't like BoF 6 from the very beginning and instead of changing the name or something they pushed the game and finally released it. As expected it turned out to be a mess, with a score of 2,1/5.

So, I am on the careful side with Capcom. They are better than Konami, but they still do some stupid things like BoF 6, street fighter 5 fiasco etc.

I have also forgotten about Command and Conquer red alert. A really good strategy game, but now it is kind of dead.

PS: BoF 3 is also my favourite. It is not flawless, but for a 20 year old game it is really well made. The only issues I have with it are: awful mini-games and a bit of balance in terms of dragons and enemies (giant roaches in Mcnelli's villa with their jump ability).

PPS: Persona 4 golden is one of the best games I have played, with witty humour, amazing characters, plot and a battle system.

The Thief series. Thief 3 got rid of the intro cut scenes and expansive, open ended levels. I been too afraid to try the Thief 4, because I haven't heard good things about it.

The Saints Rows series. The 3rd and 4th were too goofy and silly for me. I felt the 2nd game had the right amount of seriousness and the over top elements.

Wasn't BoF6 before they started listening to feedback though? Pretty sure they were in their stupid phase still at that point.

And yes, P4G is fabulous, made my Vita worth it by itself. After playing the original PS2 one a couple of times, I honestly couldn't believe how much amazing new stuff they added to Golden; that is how you do an HD style re-release of an older game.

edit: Also, on BoF3 - yeah, the jump skill is a percentage-based thing iirc, same as blitz used by one of the enemy's in Momo's Tower, which can utterly ruin you at basically any level you're likely to be at by that point, haha.

Resident Evil. Capcom. Destroyed. It.
At least they're re-releasing remastered versions of their old games on Steam now.
I mean, I don't have a Gamecube so I couldn't play REvil 1 (RE) until they did that.

So while they future of REvil is grim at least they're selling their old titles on PC.
Now just to wait and see whether or not they'll release REvil Outbreak 1 and File #2...
