What is your favorite music group or band?

For me I would have to say Bone Thugs N Harmony, but I only liked their early releases in the 90's. I can't listen to anything new from pretty much anyone.

Hm, I'd say Deathspell Omega at the moment, but it's always shifting.

Drought has to be one of the greatest EPs ever. I mean, every DsO album is pretty damn great, but Drought is just the pinnacle of their evolution so far.
I hope they're working on new stuff.
And I still need to buy the Picture LP set with all their stuff since Si monvmentvm reqvires, circvmspice. It seems to be sold out, though.

I don't know. It seems like every group, band or person I find that I like has one or several genius songs and mediocrity or terribleness across the rest of the board.

And I couldn't choose between: Faunts, Muse, Aphex Twin, Kelly Bailey, Radiohead, Jimi Hendrix, Ludivico Einaudi, Metallica, Daft Punk, The Police and Beethoven.

I started from watching mtv, punk rock, pop shit (can't fathom how that happened, looking back at it now). After that i got my hands on some old scool hip hop and that was my stuff for about 6-7 years. Organized Konfusion, A tribe Called Quest, Wu-tang, De La Soul, West Coast G-funk, East Coast underground, and too many favorites over the years to mention. Then i started to learn piano about 2 years ago ~ and as such it steered me into learning about improvising, then composing and thus listening to Jazz and even Classical (which is a strange term, considering some compositions), so as of now my biggest favorite would probably be Charles Mingus - as his personality and music has such fire and flavor, it's a joy to listen, though not for everyday use.

Come to think of it, now that i'm learning to write my own stuff, i don't listen to too much music, it's kind of sad really, as i would constantly terrorize my neighbours a few years ago.

The only band that has never shifted for me, because I'm also a shifter, is Led Zeppelin.

I listen to a lot of different kinds of rock.

I like things like Iron Butterfly, T-rex, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and Cream.
But also Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, the Who, Queen and King Diamond.
Progressive and otherwise weird rock like Devin Townsend, Diablo Swing Orchesta, Planet X, Soulfly, Therion and Dream Theater.
And I also like stupid stuff like Tenacious D.

And a lot of videogame music.

I have stoner tastes in music, but I never touch the stuff.

Another band I frequently go back to is Necrophagist.
They were one of the first Technical Death Metal bands I listened to, and even though those fucking slackers have not made another album for nine years as of now, I'm still mesmerized by them.
Not only their skill but also by the compositions themselves. The way stuff builds up, themes and motifs get picked up again and so on.

pm dawn, enya, and sting

only ones who consistently put out albums where i could and would listen to the whole thing.

Nine Inch Nails is my thing. Listening to Trent Reznor since over 10 years and it doesn't sound tiresome to me yet. I bought nearly every cd over the years- only a few very rar ones are still missing. Paid a lot money for various singles and got lucky on other singles which cost a lot money by now. I am just super annoyed that I didn't bought the Only ep when it came out. Now it's one of the most expensive ones and it makes no damn sense.

Korn's early stuff. And pretty much every band the followed that trend. But overall I'd have to say I respected Deftones the most.

I've really started to dig the good ol' The Knife and their new thing Fever Ray. Good for chilling and good for movin' around.

The Shadows, old British group. I wouldn't call it my all-time favorite group, but their melodic instrumental music is just timeless.

Faith No More will always be #1 for me.

Then we have:

Pink Floyd
Jane's Addiction
Deftones
Alice In Chains
Pearl Jam
Stone Temple Pilots
Oceansize
Paradise Lost
Soundgarden
Gojira
Strapping Young Lad
Faunts
Tool
A Perfect Circle
Fair To Midland
James
Mew
Public Image Ltd.
Talk Talk
Led Zeppelin

I'm a huge music lover and what I listen to at the moment always changes. But the list above are bands that will always be amongst my absolute favorites.

Guns 'n' Roses
ASIA
Faith no more
Metallica
Alice in chains
Limp bizkit
Prodigy
Cypress hill
and many, many more no shity music

Modest Mouse has always been around for me.

I'll draw from hip-hop, pretentious indie bullshit, twangy old country, singer-songwriters, technical metal, prog-rock, post-rock, many things, but my ears have heard Modest Mouse more than anything else over the past 10-12 years

Not sure if to post specifics here, but let's just say that for either one reason or another most of the music I like is on the public domain. I'm a record label's nightmare.

Either classical music or military music or sometimes even a combination of both. Yeah, I know, I'm not a "cool" guy.
