Well yeah if you want to be an overpowered juggernaut, the Gauss weapons are definately your thing, but where's your sense of style?

Well, in Fallout I just loved the shotgun. The ordinary two-barrels-two-bullets shotgun. In Fallout 2 I prefered the shortened shotgun, although it was virtually useless as a distance weapon.

My favorite handgun was the .223 because of its BANG.

Before switching to gauss or energy weapons in the latter game, I'd switch to the hunting rifle or sniper rifle though.

Through the eye into the brain is my idea of style.

Overpowerd ? Hardly/

M-72.gif
and
Gausspstl.gif
both lack a burst mode, which means you can only fire one (sometimes two) shots per turn (rare latergame cases of 3 with the pistol).

That requires you to use targeted shots and make sure each shot counts.

every gauss shot does count in a big way, thats the point he's making ... at the time you get that gun your skill will be around 100. so you dont miss much anymore. add aimed shots and bingo, the gauss is the ultimate 'normal' pistol or 'normal' rifle

the red rider LE BBgun has always been one of my favs too, nothing like shooting an enclave trooper in the eye with a 6mm pellet

Um, the Gauss ammo is extremly scarce (at least for me) so unless you cheat with your inventory, you have to ration it's use.

in the toxic caves alone there are already 200 rounds of gauss ammo if i'm not mistak'n

True, but in my current game I wound up burning quite a bit of that up cause of some odd encounters (multiple deathclaw encounters real quick) and have found myself low on ammo again.

Funny, while I'd never regard Gauss ammo as scarce, I'v never had a serious problem with it. I've managed with Gauss weapons on three party members (Cassidy, Vic, and either the Brain-bot or Lenny) and nobody ever ran out. I was at the time using a combo myself of a Gauss rifle and a situational big gun (i.e. using a rocket or a burst weapon depending on situation). I usually had another weapon as a backup, something like a Grease Gun or a Thompson in case I ran into a bunch of rats or something, but that was my only ammo conservation practice.

Just for openers, you can really stock up on Gauss weapons in sf if you want to.
Female Tanker Punk: Gauss Rifle +100 rounds
Marc (on Tanker): Gauss Rifle + 100 rounds
(both of the above are in their normal inventories so stealing works best)
Two guards in the Steel Palace: 100 rounds apiece
Combined with the Gauss pistol from the Mariposa base, you should have all the Gauss weapons you need. Possibly one more rifle for Vic once he's doing two attacks a round with it.
There's loads of Gauss ammo on the Enclave, but Bozar users should be careful, there's no .223 FMJ.

well, that is ussually prtty easy...normally you only need one or two shots to take out a threat

i'm pretty sure there is some scattered over lockers and stuff, but that doesnt bother me. by then, i'll already have around 1000 .223 rounds in my inventory, which should be enough to ravage the enclave anyway... (that is IF you really want to storm in guns blazing, i prefer talking the scientist into venting the toxins to whipe the little motherfuckers out :p)

yeah, I NEVER have problem with 223. ammo, in the beginin, I usually have to put my mind in to getting it, though later on, I have to sell some of it, because I have to much(and I hate selling ammo)

Gauss overpowered? Where? Look at Bozar for overpowered weapon. Gauss is pretty weak, it rarely kills peple with one shot, and is miserable against 'bots and Frank.

Still my favourite weapon, though.

I've never had a trouble with gauss ammo, since you only do single shots, it takes a while to get through even a relatively small ammount of ammo. Caseless ammo, on the other hand, while being a bit more common, are also spent really fast, specially if you use the vindicator (wich kicks ass anyway).

Lil' Jesus knife...
Melee Combat all the way, always at the eyes,
no Wanamingo Alien is endures longer then

FO1: assault rifle: aint the best but has some dam nice death animations
FO2: turbo plasma rifle: not explanation needed!!!

My Favourite Weapone is teh Plasma Sawe.

BTW D00DS howq do you refuel the car in FO2?!?!?!?11?

M-72.gif

I've never really noticed before, but does that have a flash suppressor?
Why would a non explosive projectile weapon need one?

FO1: Turbo Plasma (Sucker for damage)
FO2: Colt 45 (low AP to shoot, and quite effective in close range) and Pulse Rifle (Gotta love that 54-78 damage, although short ranged weapon).
FO:T: Sniper rifle untill I got Pulse Rifle.
