Fo2 vs BG 2

This is hopeless. To hell with Bioware's D&D lovin' fanboys. Without Fallout there would BE no Baldur's Gate!

1212 to 1112
1371 to 1273

...

I think it's very suspicious that BG2 always has about a 100 points more than FO2. Last time I checked it was like 1463 to 1365 in favour of BG2.

These polls dont mean anything. Its just BG2 is more known, so randon people will vote for the game they heard of, even if they didnt play both. Also, lots of cheating takes place with internet polls. Dont take the results to heart.

Im not sure about cheating, but you are right about BG2 being more reknown then Fallout. Not really a fair fight IMHO, but we FalloutFans can sure hold our ground. Also the BG2 community is simply larger. However it is not the poll that counts, its the truth we hold in our hearts, and atleast we fought the good fight.

PS> WE CAN STILL WIN THIS! COMON WORLD FANS!

I'm happy to know that it's as close as it is (although I much prefer FO1 over FO2). I wasn't expecting such a thing.

No breathing space, history is made, it precedes!

So me comes right from the doctor,
immediately did collect some people at
their work about ICQ to vote for Fallout 2,
WE SHALL NOT GIVE IN!
:D

Hey Folks!

Friend o mine says, he gets an dynamically IP,
each time he log onto the WWW, he tries
to vote, leave the www, starts his app new
and vote again, maybe that works,
but I don't know how long he will keep
his spirits, and fingers(!) to do so,
Hope it'll help somehow!

Nah, me thinks even if he does it all
day it'll be less, wouldst need an
automation for tis kinda thing... :(

Barbie Does The Wasteland

Barbie Does The Wasteland

Barbie's Wasteland Adventure

Timeless_Plastic sex appeal packaged in another "dark age" shooting gallery p'ssing contest ....

... that's a marketing trend we see in the I'play suspension, or what the bright spark here called the ""deflation"", of Black Isle Studio PC platform development.

If this poll, this data trap, has some value beyond attracting our eye balls to Gamespy INC then consider it a challenge to vote for "PC" "values" for RPG's across all platforms.

All I know of KOTR is console and PC gamers like it. Does it have a depth of field and character dev' that measures close to traditional RPG's? Are the characters more than paper dolls?

Here's some text I put up at a newsgroup, a.g.fallout.

... I don't see this as a mere "vote" for FO2.

Maybe there are some "deep" console games out there, but that's for you all to educate me on.

If you value PC level RPG's, it does not matter if consoles are where "the smart money" is focused. What matters is demonstrating "the market share" of in depth, role playing systems.

OR, expect JUMPING PUZZLES galore and useless perks and abilities, Barbie style accessories, to hang on your PAPER DOLL "hero".

So if you all want a parity between character development and Barbie bimbo silicone, it might be worth our time if we keep monitoring this 'honey pot' of a poll and "vote' for "PC Values" across all platforms.

If FO2 has less votes than BG2 then there's a wild card spot if enough return and request it.

If you vote, avoid the game genre's you are NOT interested in seeing dev'ed. Support the "PC Values" by exibiting preference for any game, any platform, that matches the template of FO1 and FO2.

We don't have to make I'play wrong, that is I'plays fate to waste.

We're behind by 330 votes now (not that it matters, but anyway). Since it appears unlikely to me they would be filtering on (dbase) IP-address (what, keeping track of 20.000 ipaddresses JUST for a vote ? Little chance), so I suppose it's a) a cookie related thing to identify you or b) they keep a static list in memory for the time the poll runs.

In case of a) just delete the cookie, in case of b) you can try to develop a (quick) webpage that opens een raw connection to the page and then fakes the headers. If it ain't jusing the headers, you would have to go around several public proxies (or just fake the packets, as well).

EDIT: they are using a session_id:
Code:
http://www.gamespy.com/titlefight/matches/0123.shtml?voted=1&voted=1
Form
Id	Name	Method	Action
39d3ee5f-6fc8-4152-af71-3116397bdd90	39d3ee5f-6fc8-4152-af71-3116397bdd90	post	[url]http://contestsandpolls.gamespyid.com/poll.aspx[/url]

Elements
Id	Name	Type	Value
	publickey	text	39d3ee5f-6fc8-4152-af71-3116397bdd90
q_5074	q_1176	radio	5074
q_5075	q_1176	radio	5075

It's possible that if you change those session_id's, that your poll gets true. But not sure (hard to test on a running poll)

I just voted from my 35th different IP (sometimes I love my job) but FO's still down 3707 - 3588. If my other two facilities weren't in use that would be 41 more votes I could pour into it - sadly I can't get there :(

The weather's not all too good outside,
nice day for reading a good book
and watching the poll,
and calling in Re-Inforcements per ICQ. :-)
Now using Faltrate of a comolitone with dynamic IP.

We are now in the lead agian!

Everytime I shut down mozilla and restart my vote seems to count, I think its cookie based.

We can win this!!
