FOnline: 2238, Jumping into the 3d era

I don't think this will work well... Helmets are ok, but arm and leg... That sucks. Also you need to separate each armor to pieces, and this will cause troubles when you will want to skin your mech...(rig it to skeleton) You will never make all parts to look as one piece of armor.
This is ok for metal armor for example, but other armors made from more flexible material, and as result we will get this:

Better look at Oblivion/Fallout 3 where you can just add some additional decoration to full armor suit.

First two questions:
What's your name on the FOnline Forums, if you have any?
And for Lexx (or someone who can answer), will the game now have multiple equippable areas of the body like in diablo?

Explaining that picture a bit, that NPC is wearing three pieces of clothing: a shirt (sleeves included), pants, and a belt, so it's not quite a good example. That being Morrowind, though, you could mix up some different kinds of armor and make a strange looking set, but often I buy the whole set in the game to make up the whole armor, so I don't look like a scavenger. Or just wear a robe over everything so I don't have to look at my uber-powerful but ugly-looking set of armor.

But guess what people in Fallout are? If properly done, the píeces of armor you gather would make up for more variety in skins and also add more realism as people would add up to their armor whatever they could find. Of course, crafting the armor would still yield the full set (be it leather, metal, or jacket) so that'd be no problem for those who want an uniform look.

Check out the screenshots and the dev video. The new armors are split in body armor and helmets, nothing more. It is possible to add more slots, but for us, it is too much for now. So we stick to full body and helmet.

@Continuum: We will not add randomly generated armors in FOnline: 2238 :P It wouldn't work very well, but it's no problem to do such thing at all in our engine.
What we will do is, including many different looking armors for each armor type. Such as the type "leather jacket", which will have the same stats as generic leather jacket, but can have 1000 different looks, etc.. etc.. we are open for everything now.

Also @the max files. I downloaded the Max 10 trial yesterday and played around a lil bit. Couldn't do much yet, because today I had to fix my windows system due to HDD shit... but if everything works how I think, I will be able to export every item and armor piece as 3ds file, which can be edited by other tools then as well. The only thing that I can not convert are the animals and humans + animations.
