FOnline needs YOU! (to sound like Ron Perlman)

Failed applicants will have their voice clips posted online for public mockery.

Wait, did I forget mention that?

We're sending the failed ones to Matt Groening, no big deal.

LOL.

Anyway, I started recording, thinking it was going to sound great - but you know how what you hear coming out your mouth compared to hearing what you say coming out of speakers can sound completely different?

Yeah, well, I sound nothing like Perlman, doesn't matter how hard I tried. Maybe when I'm 40 and smoke a thousand more packs of cigarettes, but for now at age 25, my voice isn't cutting it.

I'll check back though, if you guys are still hard pressed to find someone for this, I'll send my voice clip to you regardless of how I think it sounds.

I just realised the clips I uploaded for Mutants Rising have been removed due to inactivity and the wav files on my PC were lost during my first ever reformat in December.

I would make new ones right now, but my mic was so old and cheap that it stopped working (cost like $5). I'm gonna buy a new one if only for this. I'll have the mic, record some samples, then send them to out in a few days.

How long until you make a decision on who to pick?

I think I've got just all the required keypoints for this, and Tagaziel and a few others have heard me be 'dramatic' on voice before whilst playing Left 4 Dead.

I'll send them an e-mail tomorrow morning and do some demonstrative work, but I definitely think I can do this.

I'll also clip the demo speech file to this / next post if you guys would like a listen also.

Now all that's left is to prepare something amazing to say out loud. I'd do the Fallout 1 intro, but I can't .. imitate the Perlman, so I'll need to write a new introduction to narrate.

If anyone cares to write / find anything good for me to read, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Good to see the project being almost-born. *happy lizard* As well as Lexx n' lisac2k working altogether.

Also this had better not turn into the next Mutants Rising/FMF!
Is MR dead too? Did I miss something? :o

Something that hasn't been finished fourteen years after it was started.

lil pointer for the guys that are trying to imitate Perlman:

I'd say the difficulty of impersonating Perlman's intros changes from game to game - his tone of voice is slightly different in each one.

For example -

Fallout 2.. his voice sounds the most mature, and a bit raspy in this intro.

Fallout 1.. his voice is a bit like it is in 2, but a little less raspy.

Fallout 3.. his voice, ironically, sounds the least mature in this one. No raspy-ness, most clear spoken in this intro.

...and that was the biggest problem with it.

Yay! Done recording and sent. As promised, I'll attach it to this post.

:D
Just listened to it. Nice job. My only critique would be that you talk a bit soft (probably it's just me) and overemphasize the S, but since Perlman does that as well I guess it's okay. Also, lol @ background mouse clicks.
Well, I think he doesn't sound soft but quiet, he is whispering. And that S thing could be caused by cheap microphone, that is all.
