For LucasArts slaves

No Star Wars: Imperial Commando (aka Republic Commando 2)

No Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for PC

I hate Lucas Arts

Conclusion: I don't care

"We thought, 'Gee, maybe classic adventures don't do well in the market," she said.

But that changed when LucasArts replaced much of their upper management and they started looking at the potential of digital distribution.

= little or no costs = all profit = :D at LucasArts.

It's got nothing to do with taking care of the fans out there.

well, part of the problem is, the games were out of circulation for so long, a lot of the people who wanted them would have gotten them from abandon ware sites...

i do not believe this will have the effect it would have had if they had done this in like 2002-2003.

abandonware sites are just too popular now to find places to get these games.

hell, one time perusing pirate bay i found a torrent that was like 5 gigs and had like 200-300 games on them from before 1999... and a lot of LA and sierra games were on that list.

I'm sceptical of that new Monkey Island game, though. They will probably dumb it down. Says some design director guy,
"You download it, play it right away. You might even finish it right in one sitting. And then you move on to something else. You probably have your family there with you. It's a little bit different from the old experience."

Yeah, I'm a bit sceptical, too:

They're also releasing a "reimagined" version of The Secret of Monkey Island, now with easier controls and better graphics.

Easier controls? The old one was point and click. Unless they're coming up with a new way to interface with a computer, that makes the mouse obsolete, I don't see how it can get much easier. The shit controls from MI4 certainly weren't.

Although, to be honest, I don't really see how it would be possible to dumb down Monkey Island, either. That's not to say they couldn't screw it up badly, though.

What little I've seen of the "easier controls", they look to be something akin to Full Throttle and Monkey Island 3.

Abandonware sites don't usually have Lucasarts games as they are still copyrighted and not classed as abandonware so cannot be posted up on sites in case someone sues.
The torrents are illegal due to the said copyright so shhhh. :naughty:

On he control side they use the raidial menu system which I found quicker to use in the afformentioned MI 3 .

Instead of all this useless speculating about Tales of MI, why don't you people just try the damn demo already?

Well I played the first episode yesterday and I have to say it was quite fun.

I would have liked it if they had hired the voice actors of LeChuck and Elaine from MI3 again to do the voices of said characters but that honestly doesn't detract from the game.

Earl Boen is an awesome voice actor. His LeChuck is classic. And propably commands a hefty price tag along with his talents. Especially since he's the narrator in WoW.

As for Marley, the actress is British and currently working in Britain on a soap opera. It's propably a little too much to ask them to fly her over for every episode they release...which is what they do for Armato, but at least he's in the neighbourhood (so to speak).

Actually, I'm pretty sure it's the same voice actor for Elaine. Probably just sloppy direction since she didn't need that many lines.
