    I can only assume either;

    1. Everyone is waiting for someone to make a GOT thread

    or

    2. No one here is a fan

We'll find out. We're on Series 3 episode 8 at the moment, no spoilers obviously, I think this was a much better rendition of a slower pacing episode than 'The Climb' and the 'Bear and the Maiden Fair'.

    A solid 9.

    Thoughts?

I'm sure there's plenty of fans. But not everyone feels the need to bring forward a fantasy book & tv series on a post-apoc game forum.

Personally, I'm waiting for the entire season to be out before I start watching season 3.

Yeah, plenty of fans here, some of us discuss it over on TO.

Love the series. I feel many of its changes are improvements on the books making some characters much more likable (particularly Dany).

It's got its flaws, but it's a great series.

It's a great series based on amazing books. I like the books slightly better, but they have done a terrific adaptation; with the sheer volume of the ASoIaF novels, it was impossible to do a straight adaptation, they have to be pragmatic. Apart from some changes (like the Quarth storyline in Season 2 which was a bit much), they have done a great job so far.

Only thing I don't like is the kinda gratuitous sex. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like sex as much as the next person, but they sometimes find the silliest excuses to show us a pair of tits. The last two episodes had fairly good examples of this.

Next episode is only in two weeks (no airing on US Memorial Day, they did it last year and the excellent Blackwater episode took a dip in ratings because of that). And boy am I looking forward to it. It's what I love about the series; episodes 5 to 8 were building up the plot threads for the final payoffs in the last two episodes (like 1 to 3 built up to the amazing 4th episode). It will be glorious, mark me words.

The last few books were horrible õ_õ

The only reason why I'll read as much as he'll churn out is because IS JON SNOW THE CHOSEN ONE?!

But seriously, the last two books, especially the last one, were a repeat-fest. You could have a drinking game with whenever you read "nipples on a breastplate" and you'd be drunk as fuck three pages in... But the show has its advantages and its disadvantages

Feast was boring and Dance started slow, but by midway it became good again. The author repeating a few catch phrases doesn't make a book bad unless you have problems focusing or somesuch.

    And yeah, spoilers mate.

Eh? His posts didn't contain any spoilers. Unless you consider nipples on breastplates spoilers.

Anyway yeah, book 4 was pretty weak. Too many bad, unappealing characters. Book 5 picked it back up for me, though.

that's what I'm thinking. interpretable in so many ways even when you've read the books ,) Martin really wrote that thing so he could take it anywhere if he only so chooses

I actually enjoyed the fourth more than the fifth. go figure 8-)

I enjoyed both, especially the political upheavals out West.

[spoiler:8d5ae11505]Especially the delicious downfall of the Lannisters. Cersei got what was coming to her.[/spoiler:8d5ae11505]

A fantastic series overall. It does draw you in greatly, to the point that the wedding got my blood boiling. What can I say, I immerse easily in books.

same here, but him I read in a super marathon right before Dance came out - all of his Song of books - and then his career as a screenwriter becomes very apparent: the books are paced like a TV series already. Everything is very visual and action packed, the story is in between somewhere. I have to agree that the way he does it - masterful stuff - but when you read him in such quantity in a row, the patterns become more apparent and that's not too flattering. In the end I felt like I'd been watching a film instead of reading a book.

Not a bad thing when you're looking for good entertainment, though

To be honest, I didn't notice it. Maybe the fact that I was spending most of my time buried in my e-book reader, oblivious to the world around me, helped that.

My wife certainly did mind my behaviour, though.

Cercei and Jaime's arcs saved Feast for me. Otherwise I would have taken much longer to read that book, between all the POVs that were overly padded or just plain uninteresting. Seriously, I get that it may have an importance further down the line,

[spoiler:668f4e5089] but I simply do not give a single fuck about who is King of the Iron Islands. They're a bunch of idiotic viking wannabees who can all take an express trip to see their Drowned God for all I care. Arianne Martell's plot was also so obviously destined to fail from the start that I ceased to care long before that utterly boring bodyguard of Doran's chopped that Kingsguard's head off. And of course Brienne's chapters were a tedious exercice in pointlessness. Yes, world building is important, but not as much as advancing the plot, dammit.[/spoiler:668f4e5089]

Good thing Dance came back to several of my favourite characters, and made another bland one interesting. But i think many people agree A Storm of Swords is the best in the series.

I didn't care about it at first. I watched Rome and didn't really have a problem with it. But lately it feels like they're afraid that if they don't show ass and tits of every single female actor, people will stop watching. I'm fine with nudity, but as you say, when it doesn't fit in the show, they put it there anyway. The show has to adapt to the sex, more or less.

Episode 7 was appalling. You actually managed to put some porn into a torture scene? Wow. Even the Ramsay actor looked like he couldn't believe what was happening for crying out loud. Hah! I'm teasing you with poon! I bet you think that's just as bad as that time I rammed a chisel through your finger, huh!? No? Ok, I guess I'll just cut your dick off for no reason instead.

Love the series overall though, even though some things annoy me from time to time.

Admitedly, [spoiler:92b4000db3] Theon jr. being gone is very heavily implied in the fifth book. The show just confirmed it. And yes, that's the scene I was refering to. It was just totally gratuitous and painful to watch. Then himself was like ''WTF is that shit?''. [/spoiler:92b4000db3]

Some scenes have justified nudity (such as Dany's bath scene in Episode 8, she's taking a bath after all, or when lovers are together like Robb/Talisa), some are just... off, like the Melisandre/Gendry scene. They could very easily have done without, but it's Game of Thrones so boobies must be shown. But Gendry has to keep his pants like almost every other male in the series, wouldn't want to shock the audience with a penis now would we?

I was surprised to see penises in the Spartacus tv show. I think it's the first time they showed more than just boobs.

I like to watch GoT, but I'll have to admit, that I am slowly getting a little bit annoyed. The story isn't really progressing the way I'd like to see it. There are new characters all the time and old ones die all the time and it feels to me like there is just no end in sight. Especially now that I've "accidentally" read a bit more on the GoT wiki... I am not really happy about how things are turning.
