Gamers With Jobs: Best Game of the Coming Year Fallout 3

Besides, Fallout 3 will either run away with all GotY awards or be burned by the critics.
Nah, I think it's a safe bet that Fallout 3 will be right up there with the Bioshocks, Halo 3's and Oblivions of the world. It won't get ripped apart by the critics - not the "mainstream" critics, anyway. Remember, they all loved Oblivion, and Fallout 3 is more or less Oblivion with guns, as should be evident by now. What's not to love about Fallout 3? So that's my New Year's prediction. Way to go out on a limb, huh?

Personally I just plain don't like Oblivion, so that combined with the drastic gameplay changes being made makes it almost certain that I won't enjoy Fallout 3. If I did like Oblivion, Fallout 3 might be a pretty good game. It just wouldn't be a real Fallout game.

As for which game I'll probably enjoy the most in 2008, I'm guessing it will either be Super Smash Bros. Brawl or No More Heroes. Or at least I'll enjoy those the most in the first quarter of the year.

As much as a await Fallout 3. Just because its fallout and I'm a sucker for the franchise. I have to say that i think that Age of Conan will be the best game of 2008.

Keep in mind, this is not GWJ's game of the coming year (as a whole site), it's just one staff member's (Elysium). And while I'm not particularly looking forward to Fallout 3 myself based on what I know of it, hey, people have different tastes and like different things. I did personally like Oblivion but given the choice, I'd pick a true Fallout sequel to an Oblivion sequel, hands down.

So, my Game of the Coming Year?

Fallout 3.
Now you've done it! Expect the hordes of NMA forums to descend upon us with their fiery hate!

.... lol
The posted responses have been pretty tame but it sounds like he's gotten a number of angry private messages.

They shouldn't be, but can't be helped. NMA is only responsible for how people behave here, not elsewhere.

Stupidity is an eminently human trait.
