GameZone Wasteland 2 Interview

I just hope they don't use any ideas from the engine thread. After reading things like "Unity" or "Id Tech x" I left the board again. And then there is this mood ... it's not a nice place to be. A lot of battles going on who's ideas are best etc... meh. Don't like it.

Give me a TopDown Wasteland 1 and I'll be happy. =)

I cant see that working but thats just my opinion.

Remember the graphics were limited with W1 because of the technology available at the time.

I'd sooner see a isometric view point if im honest, it would allow for alot more detailed world.

hybrid experience between Wasteland and Fallout 1 and 2

Bethesda style housing? No way. I mean, it is being useful in Skyrim and makes some some there, but was super-retarded in Fallout 3. The Lucky 38 seemed less bad in New Vegas somehow, yet I still didn't like it.

But I hope they put some places with potential to be taken over to store hoarded stuff, like the 3rd floor of the Lost Hills Bunker (Brotherhood HQ) in FO1 or the Chop Shop in New Reno (Fallout 2). Lots of lockers = lots of loot.

regarding the engine. Well I hope they will not throw to much money out on that but still enough that it looks decent. I mean we are not in the 1990s anymore after all. So it can't hurt to go for something good looking. As long it fits the game. I mean it has not to be Crysis quality here. But even with older and somewhat cheap engines many things can be done.

Wouldn't mind seeing hotel rooms make a return IF they made them more useful.

I always used to take over the 'Friendly Lending Company' in Fallout 1 using it as a HQ and having tycho and Ian stand guard whenever I wasn't using them.

In Fallout 2 I used the redding sheriffs office as a place to dump some gear, I was a deputy after-all and redding was one of my favourite locations in Fallout 2. I also loved Modoc for some strange reason aswell... I'd often imagine my character settling down around either Redding as it's Deputy or Modoc as a simple farmer.

In both, Fo1 and 2 I always had all gear I needed on me. Never needed to dump anything anywhere.

Call me crazy but I think the reason I went to the effort was for a bit of role play.

I like the idea of having a 'base' or 'HQ' sat somewhere to return to for some R&R after a difficult battle or quest - especially so in Fallout 2.
