Gaminator Promises a Mutant's Return to F3, Et Cetera

The site Gaminator.pl posted a preview of Fallout 3. While some information therein seems to contradict earlier findings (Lyons called a "he", demo ran on a "computer" instead of XBox, etc.) we should take this with a grain of salt, but there are a few interesting passages, for example:
You can walk around the Vault. This is a bit of a disappointment. Contrary to previous declarations, what we see here does not really resemble the views from earlier Fallout games. The graphic style of the Vault has been changed. It's more modern now, full of cables, pipes, equipment and junk. (...) No more clean and sterile Vaults.
One about quests:
If you've high speech and nearly maxed charisma, then you can convince the Overseer to let you outside (almost impossible, but...). Another way is to subvert the guard to open the door. Stealth characters can sneak to the door. You can hack the computer system of the Vault or use force. Still not enough? Hah! There is also a hidden passageway out. The new Fallout is even superior to the originals in at this point.
Among other things, the preview seems to distinguish between "V.A.T.S. attack" and "active pause" regarding the combat system, maintains that there might be "vehicles" (which conflicts what we've hitherto heard) and promises that "a supermutant we know will make a re-appearance", which must point to Marcus. Or not?

Smells like bullshit. A lot of that is patently incorrect, but it's not like we're not used to half-competent previews spreading inaccuracies now.

I've heard the mutant rumour before, though.

Sounds interesting but it's probably mostly hype. Especially the vehicles thing. Heh. Maybe we can drive around in them, but when it comes to fighting we have to get out and fight. And of course the enemies attack the car and kill it first...

Oh wait. I'm thinking of a different game that had horses in it... Hmm.. which game could that be? :P

Geeh what vehicle can we expect to match the edginess of Bethesda's Fallout 3.

A post nuclear atomic powered pimp mobile?

Well, if any character were to reappear, Marcus seems like an obvious choice.

On the other hand, Harold has a history of re-appearing in Fallout games and spinoffs, and he's a mutant. too.

Not super though.

Also, if you check the FAQ, Kyle Orland from Joystiq says there will be no usable cars or whatnots.

The article has quite a bit of inaccuracies regarding the demo, also, I have not heard Fallout 3 is being shown, so either those guys have some good contacts, or are fibbing.

most likely since the player killed all the other mutant characters, but then again it could be Harold which would make sense because they need some zombies to go with the ogres and they probably think all mutants are super mutants

A secret passageway out of an hermetically sealed bunker that is build into a mountain?

This has got to be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of in a game.

I doubt anyone would be dumb enough to do something like that, not even Bethestha.

P.S.: I'm properly so going to eat that last sentence in 2008. :|

while sealed after the whole nuclear exchange thing, it is highly likely that such an installation also has airvents, septic overflows, and whatnot (meant for use when there is no need to be locked down).

as such, you might be able to pry one of those open? though it'd probably require quite a bit of skill not to have half a dozen alarms go off.

a secundary exit would also be quite likely, as if the cave would collapse, you'd be royally screwed if you didn't have a backup exit...

in the end, the foolishness of a "secret" exit would entirely depend on how Beth would handle such a thing.

So Beth just HAS to have a secret exit in the fallout mod for oblivion, I guess it makes sense, you still have to follow the original storyline for a mod in most senses unless you want to re-write the entire game, and somehow I doubt Beth's planning on re-writing more than a quarter of the Oblivion code!

*grumble, grumble* It's not as if you don't have the ability to correct typos in my posts when you see them, Per and Morbus.

Re: Gaminator Promises a Mutant's Return to F3, Et Caetera

As far as supermutants go I must agree that all signs seem to be pointing to Marcus - Lou, Harry and Melchior are pretty much out of the picture. However my money goes to Lenny - hanging out with a supermutant who tends to gimp people seems kinda close to Beth's idea of Fallout humour.
