General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I'm playing the game where you add a mod to Oblivion and then play for a while and then think, "Oh, it would be neat if this thing were different," and then you add another mod, and then you play for a while and think, "Gosh, I'm leveling slowly, I should have made Modding a major skill."

Misteryo

The only single player game I'm playing is Fallout 2, haven't played a single player game in some time before that :/.

Online I play Counter Strike: Source and DotA, constantly.

Hi guys,

I have been playing Dead Space for the last couple of days, I picked it up cheap second hand at a local game store, no way I am going to pay full price for it new.

Basically its a bunch of science fiction action movie clichés with a hint of SS2 (very teeny hint) thrown in.

For a horror sci fi game it really lacks much horror as most of the scare scenes have been done before, and when you are overwhelmed by enemies its more frantic than scary as you try to make some distance so that you can fire on the buggers.

Also, that asteroid shooting section is one of the most fucking frustrating parts in the game.
There is such a thing as a challenge but you can overdo it.

Playing Eternal Darkness. Heard so many good things about it and I have to say that I'm barely tolerating it right now.

I assume you are playing it with a gamepad? Cause it's piss easy with mouse. Also I hope you are not playing it on anything lower than Hard difficulty, as it kills most of the fun in the game. Normal difficulty is really the Easy one. And Easy.. well it probably should have been called "Housewife difficulty".
I agree, for a game that pretends to be a horror game it isn't scary at all. However once you take it for what it is - sci-fi third person shooter, you can have loads of fun with it. I didn't like it initially, but I grew to love the game. I only wish Impossible difficulty would be more challenging than it is.

Myself, I'm starting to play System Shock 2 for the first time in my life. I wanted to play it real bad for a long time, but I couldn't make it run on my PC, and just last night before going to sleep I figured out it was ffdshow that was causing the problem. Any suggestions regarding difficulty? I play most of the newer games on hardest, but I also realise that old games usually are different in terms of challenge. So should I go with Normal or Hard for the first time?

*EDIT* Apparently I should ease up on the weed for a while, because I've just found out you can change difficulty any time in-game. Sorry for the stupid question.

Playing the game of The Thing, pretty fun.

Gets on my nerves at times though, get through a couple of the Things, run out of ammo with like 1 around still, find a room to hole up in with my only two remaining teammates, only to find the room has a guy with the majority of his brains taking residence on the wall behind him, causing one of my teammates to flipout, and decide to emulate the guy and add a few more chunks to the token brain collection wall.

As long as you don't let yourself get run into too many situations like that it's a pretty neat game.

I'm playing Fuel on the 360, impressive map though let down by the copy pasted buildings. Loading screens whenever you crash, start a race, finish a race, go to a camp etc get old really fast. At least they could do is alternate the screen image and music.

It's fun but if they'd only taken out the races, added the physics shooting and entering/exiting vehicles of Crackdown, flying helicopters from Prototype and hordes of zombies. Then they might of had a great game.

I'm playing Planescape: Torment for the FIRST time! (yes, yes, I know...)

The fact that my character frequently runs backwards into combat doesn't bother me as much as the very clunky combat itself. But damn, just the first area (mortuary) has impressed me greatly several times. Finding #42, weird notes in people's skulls and other little details are simply brilliant. I also managed to piss off a harlot in the streets, giving Morte some new insults for his arsenal. Instantly hooked.

ToEE, the third game I've ever started that doesn't have the dreaded loot bug, you know it seems like no matter if I have patch 1.03 or Co8, that loot bug is entirely random and just decides to stop showing up at irregular intervals.

Bought Medieval 2: Total War - Gold Edition for €5,- two days ago and I'm hooked on the huge battles between Vikings, Crusaders and Natives. :D
Also going to reinstall Fahrenheit to finally complete the game (never got past the fighting imaginary bugs in the office part).

Playing Star Control 2, excellent game.

I got a little way into that, absolutely loved the dialogues, but resource gathering felt like work, and I hated the combat. Any tips on that?

I am playing (or trying to play) Call Of Jaurez: Bound in Blood. I am loving the games atmosphere and characters so far but I am having a problem. On the beggining of the 4th chapter. After Ray and Thomas (playing as Ray) seperate to get William and the girl back. After getting William and then escorting him up the hill and finding Thomas. The game bugs up and well it makes Thomas magically teleport miles away. Game saves and then I fail the mission because I "left Thomas behind". I've restarted the chapter three times now and the same problem occurs. I don't have live anymore and am not sure if there is a patch available anyways. I would love to finish it.

Also. Finished Ghostbusters and had great fun with that.

Playing Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles on my dad's Wii. It's fun to play on hard and after you beat it once you can unlock the coop mode. Then you can get fucked up and play with your friends. If you can find the game for cheap I strongly recommend to a fan of the series or a first time player.
