General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Me and my buddy had a LAN party. In anticipation of Diablo 3 we decided to play Diablo 2. We played for about two days straight. I hope Diablo 3 doesn't disappoint.

Just finished Deus Ex HR. Enjoyed most of it a lot but it does have problems and started to drag toward the end.

The main problem is the story. I'm sure there was some good in it but I just couldn't make myself care.

Some of the dialogue in Human Revolution is questionable, and so far I just don't care about anything that is going on in the game, that and it runs like pure crap on my computer.

sigh, so I uninstalled it, I feel like I wasted 30 dollars, 30 dollars I could have pledged to Wasteland 2.

Hmm, it runs rather well on my laptop, which hasn't maxed out a game from this century yet.

I agree with the dialogue. The writing and the voice acting help the convoluted story be even less interesting. I would recommend giving it another shot though. I took a friend's advice and tried to finish the game without triggering any alarms or killing anyone and it's intense as hell. I did go on a rampage toward the end but still enjoyed it.

help! I don't know what to play!

I usually have a game or two lined up, keeping myself busy. but right now I just can't seem to find anything that'll keep me interested.

I just finished Dragon Age 2, and despite all its flaws I kinda enjoy that game. I was eager to start a new character right away, but when I started playing I found myself skipping a lot of dialogue I had so recently heard already and the more I thought about playing the game again, the less interested I became. I realized I will be stuck with the same lame characters, unfocused storyline and frustration over my action having little to no actual impact on the game world (not to mention, spend another 90 hours in the same 5 areas I spent the last 90 hours). the fun combat and class system isn't enough to warrant another playthrough.

before that, I finished Mass Effect 3 with my old Shepard, then did ME1+2 with a new one. don't want to play ME3 again until DLC's are out. and even though I miss the characters and intriguing story (yes, I'm a sucker for the ME games) I'm kinda spent on the ME gameplay for the moment being anyway.

finally tried Mount & Blade: Warband after a long time of curiosity, and it seems interesting, but right now it doesn't really offer what I'm looking for.

I want something with challenging combat, good story, likeable characters and intriguing customization. I'm obviously leaning towards RPG's, but it doesn't have to be that.

other recent games I've played, or begun playing and didn't feel like finishing: Skyrim (fun at first, boring after 5 dungeons), Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (very fun at first, boring when you keep doing the same thing over and over), The Witcher 2 (the first game was tons better, can't be bothered with the clunky pc controls and annoying inventory system).

no use recommending old classics, I've played them all pretty much.

I'm longing for Dark Souls on pc and Wasteland 2 :(

you are knowing all the old stuff (most of it as you say).

you demand: "I want something with challenging combat, good story, likeable characters and intriguing customization. I'm obviously leaning towards RPG's, but it doesn't have to be that. "

well ... what else could one say then ... its summer. Do something else then spending time on the PC till you finally find some nice games.

I do recommend Deus Ex: HR if you are into stealth games. There is a lot to like in the game. Each section has several solid separate options and approaches.

Before that, I played Bulletstorm and thought it was a fun overlooked shooter, if you want to blow off some steam once in awhile.

Limbo is kinda fun.

I don't demand anything, just saying what I enjoy :P

summer's not quite here yet (actually, it was snowing yesterday). I still have things to do most of the time, like studying, and hanging with friends and the girlfriend. but I like having a game waiting for me at the evening or those lazy days when you don't really feel like doing anything useful.

@maximaz: big fan of Deus Ex, really enjoyed HR but one playthrough was enough. I'll look into Limbo and Bulletstorm, thanks for the advice.

I'm starting to think that maybe I have simply played too much, when barely any new games interest me and I've played the classics and old favorites so many times I can't be bothered with them anymore :/

Started Dead Space 2. This game will give me a heart attack I tell you hwut. It seems a lot scarier than the first one, even the very first fucking sequence had me anxious.

Started x3 terran conflict.

I'm suffering from total amnesia and i'm in space.

The first thing that you see is a dot in front of you and a message saying select the ship to start navigational tutorial. What ship? How do i select it? Where am i? The game gives nothing, strangely thats the greatest thing IMO.

It's funny how ME3 has a 100% "positive" "critic" rate at Metacritic and a 30% "positive" "user" rate.

Ironical, yes. I just wish that a game with so much potential wouldn't be ruined by the crappy industry.

Dead Space games are 75% off on steam right now. I just finished the second one and it was definitely worth $5 at the very least.

I encountered a game breaking bug in DS 2 when it first came out. It was pretty lame. It was on 360 though.

Want to play Risen 2 as there are very few fantasy pirate RPGs but good ol' BN's review is making me wait for a sale.
Also 8 quid for launch DLC, is just silly.

You probably should wait. It's not a bad game so far, the story is okay if not very Risen-like, but combat-wise it's quite inferior to the first game. A shame, really.

combat in Risen was though only good against Humans. I loved to battle them. It was one of the few games where you really had a "tactic" involved. As soon you had animals against you and several enemies the systems starts to suck heavily. But oh well. maybe it was just me who sucked. Both could be true after all.

Anyway. Is Risen 2 good? I am not thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat much in to Pirates (but I don't bother either). And Risen 1 started to recycle its plot quite much in the last half of the game. So is this here from the quality the same or better?
