General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Divinity original sin on tactician mode. its fun as hell. it seems that, to compensate the difficulty the enemy could be killed easily so does you
Well I finally started Divinity Original Sin and one review I read sums up my experience so far:

"To play Divinity: Original Sin is to fall in love with RPGs all over again."

It really is as good as the reviews say it is. I just wish that people who make RPGs like this would start making post-apocalyptic or space RPGs instead of constantly making fantasy games.

Well, you will like it even better, after 80 hours in, i had to stop playing as i felt it was beginning to turn into addiction. I will continue it after i will get a new gpu, this way i will get a rest from all this playing (80 in and i still have not finished the game).

It's like someone brewed a magical potion from these varied ingredients: a bit of diablo like loot hunting, a sprinkle of whackiness, a smidgen of great music, a spoon of awesome combat and there it is!

It really delivers a great experience. One thing that is often overlooked in games is the interface design and thankfully Divinity Original Sin has a stunning interface. It was clearly given a lot of attention to make it fit the aesthetic of the game and make it look interesting. This is one thing that was lacking for example when comparing the PC version of Dragon Age: Origins to its console version - the interface in the PC version was really interesting and fit the world with it's resemblance to a tome of some kind, whereas the console version had just a blank black inventory/character screen IIRC. And for Dragon Age 2 the menu, like everything else in that game, was just lazily done.

i honestly dont have a problem with fantasy genre. I'm generally picky when it comes to what kind of fantasy genre i read/play. most of crpg today seems to trapped in designing low fantasy world (pillars of eternity, age of decandence,etc...) while its do offer nice atmosphere touch and quite depressing in nature, its doesnt convince me why i should invest my self in their world. Divinity, put spin into it and instead lean more tolkien fantasy in its world building. so no bleak tone anymore :)

I swear 75% of your posts I see, you mention your hatred for fantasy rpg's

Cool that you like D:OS though. One of the best games released in the last 10 years in my opinion, and seeing how successful it was brings me much hope for the future of both Larian Studios and old-school rpg's in general. It has some issues, but enough redeeming qualities that I don't mind them too much. Mainly the inventory system (and excessive loot) does annoy me though.

NEO Scavenger and The Long Dark. I have hundreds of hours invested in each of them, and just can't keep away from them. NEO Scavenger transforms 100% with mods and has such a good soundtrack, while The Long Dark just has such an immersive feeling of survival in a cold climate to me.

I agree with him, they've kind of just annoyed me, I would like to see something fresh with more variety.

As for me I'm waiting until I get my mechanical keyboard delivered then I might delve into the rest of System Shock 2 I just don't like backtracking. On another note I really need to get a hold of System Shock 1.

Do you know any good places to get SS1?
Not too sure, there is GOG that sells it. Normally buy things from Steam when there's a sale. If you want it for a cheap price you could always keep watching it until you see a sale. Other than that I'm probably not going to be much help as I'm sure other people are better informed than I.

Yeah, and no generic disposable zombies/psychos/infected/robots. Only that is a breath of fresh air, not to speak of the inmmersive needs, skills and the overall lack of reliable weaponry, so you don't have to think with the trigger.
Really loking forward to the Story update.

Oh yeah, I agree as well.

I'm so damn pumped for the System Shock 1 remake. I want to play the original, but I honestly think it looks too damn old and clunky. SS2 is one of my all-time favorites though. Might actually replay it next, once I'm done with my current playthrough of Satellite Reign. A game I can wholeheartedly recommend for anyone who's into strategy and cyberpunk. It's so god damn beautiful. And fun.

I don't know if anyone is familiar with what I'm currently playing but I have been replaying the old Earth RTS series (Earth 2150, Moon Project).

Darn fine RTS games that require the player to actually use their brains. Unlike their last game Earth 2160 which is complete garbage. Its a shame when well made games get devolved into a overly simplified version of themselves.

If you like RTS I would suggest checking them out, bear in mind they are considered "dated" now.

Rocket league and New vegas mostly. Gears of wars will forever be my main and side chick . My cuz trying to make me play Star Wars battlefront. Also want to try the new Doom i love the fact that you recover health when you rip and tear the demons. Big up

Yes Divinity is good enough that I enjoy it even after playing what feels like hundreds of fantasy RPGs recently. Age of Decadence is unique enough that it also makes me very interested in the world.

My issue is simply that I feel there is a lack of other settings like space or post-apocalyptic for RPGs recently, and this is a niche that should be filled. Underrail did a great job of that, but that's not a big studio title. I'm still excited for Torment: Tides of Numenara and will probably replay Planescape Torment again just for that.

Maybe it's just because Fallout 4 was such a disaster that I feel a need for an actual post-apocalyptic RPG and not a post-apocalyptic FPS crafting game, so I'm hoping some other studio like Obsidian or InXile will make one soon.

Also in case anyone is still wondering: Underrail and Age of Decadence are both very, very good. It's just a shame we have to rely exclusively on small studios or kickstarter for these types of games.
