General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Starbound finally got out of Early Acces! :D It has been 3 years already since Beta release, it was like watching a kid (or a plant) grow!

Finally have free time to really get into The Age of Decadence. It destroys every other RPG I can think of in the last 10 years. It's not just one of the best RPGs ever made, it is arguably the best RPG ever made.

I made a wall-o-text review in this forum but it can be summarized as: the opposite of Fallout 4 and Skyrim, the Anti-Bethesda game.

Got pretty far in Underrail which is also a great game, but started AoD and haven't been able to put it down. This is how RPGs should be designed, and so far the majority of negative reviews I've seen are from people who think Skyrim and Fallout 4 are great RPGs - unfortunately Bethesda and other studios have dumbed down the meaning of "RPG" so much that when an actual RPG like The Age of Decadence is released they don't know what to do with it.

In my opinion, it is definitely worth a buy.

and i definitely argue that, :P

granted i haven't play it, i still being impressed by divinity from its engine mechanic that redefined the whole crpg experience. my opinion is all rpg dveloper should take inspiration from that, not skyrim (like feargus said before :v )

Divinity: Original Sin is in my backlog. I will probably play that after AoD and I am sure I am going to like it as well. However one of the reasons I like Age of Decadence is that it is a LOW fantasy setting. I'm sick of high fantasy settings in RPGs, and it's nice to see a fresh take on the fantasy setting. It really feels like a post-apocalyptic Roman-themed Fallout of sorts.

I wouldn't say Age of Decadence "redefines" cRPG, rather it revives the RPG genre after studios like Bethesda have destroyed the meaning of "role playing game." AoD stands out because a game with this kind of intense design is a rarity in these days of shallow, lazy games that are designed for only 1 playthrough.

Either way, if you're a fan of RPGs then The Age of Decadence is definitely a must play in my opinion. It is an incredible game especially considering it was such a small development team as I understand it, and it destroys many other games with its writing alone.

Finished Dark Souls 2: SOTFS.
Not the DLC though, if somebody who completed them could reccomend them maybe i'd consider playing them.
Overall, the "just skip it" of the series, but it would have been nice if some of the mechanics had been reused for the next games.

dark souls 2 is the weakest in the series in term of boss battle and gameplay, but sadly my favorite in terms of lore and story :(

It wasn't amazing, but it really explored other aspects of the Dark Souls universe; the Curse and hollows, the Kings and the "Queens of Dark", not trying new things is something to point fingers at in DSIII.
Gameplay wise, it was more JRPG-y, (even more items i'll never use and weirded stats!), but this time being a caster/spellsword/paladin/etc is actually viable and useful! :D
My paladin claymorer was super strong, too bad that defense and armor was so strange this time.

while i am a fan of claymore, i would say in the world of darksouls pike or polearm weapon would be more effective. it shows.

nah the whole DS3 itself is very new really new. i would rate it as "the most crapsack world thing you'll get". we get an rpg in the past that let you as an ordinary not so a hero, but i nver seen thing like playing as a loser :D or as the game says "the unkindled", unchosen one.

I'm sure they had the idea somewhere in development to call you "piece of garbage" somewhere between the lines xD
My theory there is
That you are actually a Lord Of Cinder, that may explain the Ember change from Humanities, that bosses also "use", why do you awake like a lord of cinder (sleeping after "death" and then reappearing as needed) That is my explanation for NG+, but i know that it's just for gameplay's sake

still not change the fact that ;)

the world is literally Dead. fucking dead is what the world, "life" inside it and our character needs so that they transcend to the next cycle of world. some even suggest that these next step of cycle is the setting of the bloodborne itself. thus it might be apeear that while we might could not truly link the fire again, we could just probably acting as sort of the harbinger of new age, just like in demon souls and dark souls 1.

Yeah, the humans got pretty screwed by the Linking of Fire, the whole "fleeting form" deal. The "end" of this might be on one of Dark Souls 3's endings
Or maybe not, that is the biggest mystery after all.

By the way, if you are on PC, i'm trying to recruit people for the Dancer, you might know what i'm talking about

be sure to hit her butt :smug:

sorry cant help, i was just going to bed. almost :)
I didn't mean now, just someday ^^ there is the "Let's get 10 characters from earlygame to near-end in an hour" move everyone knows now
