General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I'm playing with myself now that my gaming PC is mucked up. :V
It's pretty fun but I can only play for 10 minutes at a time. Which kind of sucks.
Good thing I've gotten a ton of free DLC and the best part is that there's constantly new stuff!
Though the "leather-bitch" skin cost quite a lot but it was worth the money.
What did you do to it?

I'm playing Pillars of Eternity as a Bleakwalker Moon God-like Paladin, trying to go for the Solo achievement where you beat the game with a single party member. It's going alright so far, lots of backtracking to try and find better equipment and do quests I wasn't a high enough level before for. Plus it's interesting seeing all the evil options the game has to offer without being shackled by "goody goody" companions.

I know my sacrifice has not been in vain. I fought for my country and my liberty, My honour is assured. Since it is the will of God to separate us on Earth, I hope we’ll meet again in heaven. Keep me in your prayers..

Yes i just finished Valiant Hearts: The great war. Awesome game! Sadly.. Uplay. Even if you get it on steam.

Currently on a sale and i could not resist. No regrets!

I was trying that on hard with my elf cipher and the wizard elf companion. Since i did not have a tank it was getting harder and harder, until i could not beat masses of enemies. There are spots in a game where you are confronted with a mob of enemies in a scripted event, which does not really leave you much options for attacking the enemy in a fashion you would like. Can't see any way to beat this game on hard with only two companions, on normal i guess it could be possible (if you avoid some bosses), are you playing on normal?

Yes, I'm on Normal. However I feel like he just might be able to survive on Hard given all his items. His pockets are filled with Summon Figurines which help a ton, he has 3 different healing spells per encounter, he has the Rotfinger Gloves which give 2 really good AOE spells, and he has the Crimson Armor which turns him into a barbarian when critted. It's very nice.

If you're having problems with a Cipher, do you have the 2nd level ability Mental Binding? It's basically a giant AOE Paralyzation that doesn't cost much at all to execute and works on quite a few enemies. It's very useful in large groups along with Whisper of Treason (level 1 ability) so you can turn the enemy on each other while half of them are paralyzed. This should help until you can get the level 5 Ringleader spell which lets you turn a bunch of enemies against each other all at once. Then it's bye bye to dealing with huge hordes because they'll slaughter themselves.

I remember that it became to be pretty difficult at around midgame, where whisper of treason was not enough, because i still needed a tank the strong mobs who would not be effected by mindspells. I eventually got a 3d party member and played with that configuration until the boss of "Endless Paths of Od Nua".... I don't see how it would be possible to beat that boss with only 2 chars without some serious cheesing tactics. So i beat that fucker with a full party and completed the game that way too.

I'm playing a lot of Eve Online. The one and only multiplayer game I ever paid a subscription for, but it's really worth it. A very hard game to learn, unforgiving when you make mistakes, but in the end, worth every penny. The lore is surprisingly interesting too.

I started playing Witcher 1 recently after finishing off the books, a lot of that reading done during the time I was waiting for my power to come back on after the hurricane. I've made it a good way through Chapter 2 of the game by now.

It's a good game once you get used to how the combat works. The story and the lore, and how the game lore relates to the novels, is very good.

Well, I just played through Ultimate Spider-Man for PS2 (which took me a couple of days playing it casually).
Now it's time to start on that massive backlog of games I've been saving all year.

Might start with KOTOR and then move onto Planescape: Torment (which I want to finish in time for Numenera) and then maybe go through KOTOR 2 or Aracanum.

Either way, I gotta lot to play.

I've just purchased Pillars of Eternity. Really enjoying it so far (Unfortunately it's been crashing a lot since I reached level 6 of Old Nua)

Though it's a remarkable game, I honestly think that a lot of it seems too simplistic, and handles lots of aspects of the games that inspired it very poorly.

Like, very rarely in combat do I ever have to change my strategies, since most enemies are vulnerable to exactly the same kind of damage. Also, classes and stats don't really have enough of an impact(kinda like how a specialized wizard can be just as good at trapfinding as a high-perception rogue). Similarly healers are very poorly done, since they only restore Endurance and not health. In games like Baldurs Gate or Planescape Torment, a healer could be the difference between your companions living and dying, however in Pillars of Eternity since they only restore endurance, it's often far easier just to let companions get knocked out, than to waste healing spells.

I played through Witcher 1 this summer myself. The game can be a bit of a slog in Chapter 2 if you want to complete it correctly and the swamp sections are very bleugh, but overall it's fairly fun. Which of the 3 main affiliations are you planning to go with? (Scoia'tel, Order of the Flaming Rose, or Neutral)

Maybe it's just because POE is my first RPG of this caliber with a ton of micromanaging (unless Dragon Age Origins counts), but I find the combat to be fairly difficult at times. Mainly because the most powerful parts of my team are my mages but friendly fire can be a bitch at times. Having 2 health bars is one thing I'll agree with, that was rather poorly done. Especially since there are certain enemies that barely lower your endurance but will beat the ever-living shit out of your health and the only way to restore it is with a Healing Triage spell outside of combat or a campfire. Thankfully Tyranny will only have health, not health + endurance. I also agree that it's strange for every class to be able to learn the same set of skills (Mechanics, Survival, etc). It's even stranger that out of the base, non-White March companions, the companion with the highest Mechanics isn't the Rogue, it's the Priest.

Haven't completely made up my mind yet, but I'm leaning Scoia'tel, possibly Neutral. The more I learn about the Order in this game the less I like them, and having already dealt with them in W3, I wasn't real inclined to side with them anyway.

I sided with the Scoia'tel originally, but after seeing how it affects the 2nd game I'm considering going back and playing as the Order of the Flaming Rose instead just to see what changes. I've heard from people that "Neutral" is the closest to the real Geralt when it comes to choosing, but eh, to me it's also the most dull and just leads to the other 2 sides hating you which means a lot more combat.

Bought Grim Dawn last month as i wanted to play it with a friend due to us being old Diablo 2 players. His computer died and he pretty much vanished and probably won't come online for a long long time so i decided to give it a try. 18.5 hours played in 3 days "ish".. Yeah i guess it is good :P Sadly there are 3 difficulties just like Diablo 2 and i'm not even 80% done i guess. This will take forever!

I almost gave up after the first chapter. Thank god i keept going! Even managed to do 90% of the game in my first try and only missed soem books and suchs.. But for me i got a perfect save to use for the second game! But for some reason i never really started the second one as i fucked up on the intro mission and died to the last guy. I know it doesn't matter at all but he must die! And i didn't care to try again-

I've barely played the second game myself. My real introduction to the series was Witcher 3, which IMO is one of the best games ever made. I do want to go back and play 2, though.

I am playing battlefield one as I just brought it today one of the only games I've brought full price at realsie for quite awhile now. Would defintly recomend it pretty much handels everything perfectly as a shooter although I must say I wish some slight elements where tweaked. And the player base is abit annyouing using less rifles and such. However if a strong community develops to playing the game well and nobody staying being tramp with the dam rocket rifles I thin kthe game will florish.

Story could be a bit more developed also they could of made it shorter the cut sneces and storys are pretty decent and tell a story not really told before its not a typical shoot/war game

Online is really where it at. It not like experiment with like jet pacts like cod or anything but what it does do it does really well. Like I said probably need a couple od tweak witch might even get updated yet. There just a few annyouing things like horse health. And there others things to me like the amout of zeplins however you can kinda let the game get that litte bit unacurate because of how beautiful and fun it is.

Also its kinda let down you can chose a side so alot of people are of germany but useing british guns witch is kinda werid in my opion. It plays really well and the mechanics are good.

I think the thing that really take it up alevel is the conquest mode i think its called. Its like that main mode and you go through many different modes and it can take awhile but it actually feels like two sides fighting awar over the game you can learn to hate them more etc. An you can change your style every time you win or lose. This abosulte one of the best thing in shooters because even online needs abit of a story. It also give you little bit of factual information its not too in your face so it really okay. It makes the whloe game mode very intresting. Honestly play conquest mode it very inresting can turn out differently each time you play one set one. For example I was playing one you get to change side but also different things happen like last time i played it a zeplin landed on the last bjective and kinda blew up the base so it was really hard to defned. Everytime you play its different so thats really what makes it different

Finished playing Batman: Arkham Origins after postponing it since after release due to a game breaking bug. Went back to it since I got it free with one of my video cards and wanted to see if the bug got fixed. It did but the game was still a buggy piece of shit that would keep crashing on me, the performance was decent but nothing special as at some points the framerate would randomly drop. The story wasn't all that great and the combat was even easier than in Arkham Asylum and City especially when you get the electricity gloves which makes enemies of all types go down with little effort. I did enjoy what boss fights there were, really found no use for using gadgets during combat.

They had a chance to show off a different villain in this game which would've been a nice change but no instead they had to go with the stupid plot twist. Overall I find Asylum and City to be superior to this game but it still had its moments.

I saw him like that too.

Well since I got rid of 90% of my console shit and my computer died on me (horrible lightning this year, bbq'd my big screen tv, sound bar and motherboard, aging beautique machine so less than sad and want to kick 22 year old self in the teeth over) all I have to play games now is a WiiU and a Toshiba Satellite, been checking out and revisiting some older games. First off, I only recently discovered Shadow Warrior and all of it's cheesy glory. Back in the day I had only played Doom and Duke Nukem and only discovered Blood about 6 or so years ago. So been enjoying Shadow Warrior. Have yet to play the new ones nor know if they're any good.

Also been revisiting Baldur's Gate. It's the Enhanced Edition tho it was not required several mods would have done the same thing. The only thing new it brought is a round of new characters I don't particularly care for, an expansion that doesn't look all that interesting (could be wrong on that one) and a few new class packets. That and achievements, lots of them. Lots of stupid achievements. Tho it is fun revisiting shit I havn't played since I was like 13. So nostalgia. I got some decent nostalgia. Even entertained making a parody let's play of it. If I find the time and the nuts to do it I just may.
