General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Lord of the Rings Online (14 days trial). How can you rip off from WoW so much and still call it diffrently?

Anyway - despite the immature atmosphere and typical LotR cozyness, it's pretty damn good. Lots of quest, a STORY with scripted quests, cool animations for magicians.

Unfortunatly, I can't say anything on The War or more advanced factors, but I enjoy playing Human Lore-Master pretty much.

http://www.lotro.com/trial link for those who would like to give it a try.

Promised myself I wouldn't go back to Metal Gear Online and yet I've gone and made myself a clan for the misfits and psychopaths like myself who play the game...

Eh.

Finally got around to playing KOTOR2. The game's fun, but also a bug factory. Some of these bugs crash your game and are impossible to fix.

what kind of problems you having? after all updates, not using vista and adjusting refresh rates for my monitor i haven't had a problem.

- The game randomly crashes, mostly during the start of in-game movies. I downloaded Obsidian's dll fix, which reduced the number of crashes.

- The game starts out in windowed mode, no matter what I do. Subsequently, the mouse cursor is slightly offset to the buttons in-game, resulting in an 'action' area being in another place than the button you click on screen.

- As mentioned in Ratty's thread, some sloppy scripting resulting in blocking my game in an area at Kerriban, which resulted in making me absolutely furious for a number of minutes, realizing my previous save was from three hours prior to that.

this is a fairly common problem that i've read about and experienced myself. what os are you using? there are a few remedies. i'll look into it for you, if i can remember what i did.

do you just mean the loading screen or the actual game? the cursor thing i haven't experienced.

ugh...that sucks a thousand cocks. i don't recall any issues there in my previous game, and the one i'm half-way into is not there yet. which area specifically, out of pure curiousity?

Vista Ultimate.

The whole game. Annoying at first, but not a game-breaker.

The secret tomb, after the battle with you-know-who at the end. There's a small room with three doors. For some reason, after defeating you-know-who, all exit doors are... locked, effectively trapping me inside the goddamn place.

I'd be happy for a hack that would allow me to teleport myself out of there.

Vista Ultimate.

maybe it's a dumb question...but have you tried this? it worked for me instantly:

"Windows Vista Users: If you're having problems running this game under Windows Vista, first make sure that you're using the latest Vista graphics and audio drivers for your hardware, and the latest version of this game (see page 4 for patch details). Next, make sure you don't change your UAC settings after the game has been installed, as due to Virtualization this can change the location of the game files and settings. If you can't launch the game successfully when UAC is enabled, you will need to run the game with full Admin privileges. To do this either right-click on the launch icon and select 'Run as Administrator', or right-click on the launch icon, select Properties and under the Compatibility tab tick 'Run this program as an administrator' then click OK.

i'm not sure if it was merely running as "admin" or in conjunction with running in compatibility mode...but i know it solved it immediately.

hmmm, i feel like it happened to me temporarily and i fixed that issue. tomorrow...i'll see if i can find what i did, if i did indeed do anything significant.

i wonder if you sent me a save game and i went through the area, and sent you a save game back. worth a shot.

Yup, switched off Vista's fancy theme, running it on WinXP compatibility mode, running with administrator privileges, etc, etc. No go, it still crashes occasionally.

Sure. I'll PM you my Messenger contact/e-mail.

Mount & Blade

That game is the shizzzzzzzzzz-nite!
I'm waiting for 1.0 because I dread starting a new character every time they update. I played a lot of mods with 9.03 and 9.5, though, and a lot of them were really excellent.
Must... get.... 1.0

Team Fortress 2. Probably a bit too much because my eyes hurt.

Orange 3x is my fav map. Used to hate pyro but gave it a try friday and finally unlocked 22+ achievements yesterday and i am addicted to pyro now. :P (just what the tf2 world needed, another pyro -_-)

I want to unlock all medic ones now because medic weapons look quite useful and i enjoy playing a medic especially when i can find a pyro or heavy with a brain to team up with.

Some of medic achievements are ridiculous though, not to mention all needed to be unlocked to get ubersaw. : o

Good luck getting the medi achievements! They made those a little TOO hardcore.

I hear heavy's up next, looking forward to that. Heavy/Sniper are my two mains.
