Girls and Fallout

"And the likes"? That's basically half of the game genres, plus RPGs if you count Fallout. Sims and Doom, now that's one damn good combination

Hahaha! I see now I put a tad too little thought into that sentence. Scratch 'and the likes'.
That is pretty much what she plays.

I wouldn't put Fallout on that list just yet.
Maybe with some more persuasion... I have already promised to play Zelda on the Wii, and FF12.
Now, maybe if I actually finished them I would get a bit more leverage...

Hehe. Yeah. Nothing like going from happy family life to getting scared shitless by demons coming through the walls.

Girls and Fallout... interesting title. I thought that if I clicked it I would find a bunch of perverts discussing strange, and almost disturbing things involving girls and FO... and not in the "I just got in a fight with my girl for playing too much FO" kind of way.

So, anyway... yeah I'm a girl, or I'm gay since my name isn't exactly 'manly' in any way and I work fulltime selling fragrance and cosmetics to guys and gals. Take your pick. I've been a fan of the FO series forever... I always got pssed off at it because my retarded PC would always crash whenever I'd try traveling a REALLY long distance to another town. That was until I got a more awesome PC that could actually run the game without going back to windows. I think this was back in '97 or '98... anyway it was a really long time ago. Yeah so... skipping ahead... I got FO2 and I pretty much loved that game hardcore.

I played some of tactics too, but maaan. It takes sooo freaking long to complete a mission I'm like half asleep by the time the fights over. Still a great game though...

I'm actually really surprised. I almost thought I was the only girl that played FO since most girls that do play games like the Fantasy games. Like The Elder Scrolls and WoW. Not gonna lie though, I played WoW for like 15 minutes... and that was long enough for me to create my character and get hit on by a little kid after 5 minutes of exploring. That was enough WoW for me.

Well, like I said earlier, a lot of the older FO female players hang out at Unwashed. But over the years the number dropped to about 3-5 regular posters.

Given the Watergirl incident, and the diamondgypsy blow out, there aren't a lot of FO girls posting. The original V13 might have had more, but I don't remember.

I think the real question to ask is; What in fallout is there for women to enjoy?

i'm female, and my boyfriend introduced me to the wonderful world of fallout. i'm not like angelina jolie because i hate kids, my lips aren't deformed, and i don't have fake boobs, but i'm not the image of the typical female gamer, either (in other words, i'm not an overweight sow desperately trying to attract males by playing mario cart while wearing chunky glasses in an attept to appear fashionably nerdy).

what's in fallout for me to enjoy? well... there's violence, sex, drugs, irradiated monsters, sick humor, foul language...

and the warm fuzzy feeling i get from killing a child by hitting it in the groin with a super sledge.

ohhh yeahhh.

(can someone PLEASE make a patch for f3 so i can kill those little shits?)

You should head over to the Fallout 3 Modding forum. :) I'm also trying to get my girlfriend to play Fallout, but all in vain... I'll get her eventually.

eek! I think thats why a lot of girls don't 'come out' as gamers, it seems that there's some animosity, especially among those of the same gender. In fact no female gamers I know match that decription at all, I didn't know we had enough of a reputation to have a stereotype.
Although many of us do have glasses. A sad fact of sitting too close to the screen gaming as children.

Geez, you got more balls than me. I can't kill childs, don't know why, I feel very guilty. I just burst my combat shotgun on these little brats when they get in my fights and starts to throw rocks on me, but, I don't really get any kind of warm feeling by smashing theirs little balls

Seriously, The 'Female Gamer stereotype' is a construct. The same things you could say about typical female gamers can be applied to typical male gamers with makes the argument of gender a null factor.

That being said, I spend a lot of in-game time tailoring my characters appearance and ward robe. Is this my inner barbie reflex?

As far as Little Lamplight goes, I'm positive that beth made them that way just to piss people off.

I love little kids in real life, but those little shits need to be slapped around.

Isn't there? damn I must be in the wrong place.

Yeah. There are none, and any that say they are, are obviously just sad little boys who wished they were girls in real life, so they act out fantasies online and pretend they are girls in Second Life.

=D

There has to be some girls that are Fallout fans, considering that my mother plays FPS games..like F.E.A.R....or Quake 4..and she is around 40 years old..i guess she got addicted to video games from playing C64 and Atari 2600 when she was a kid/teenager.

stereotypes are really useless in real life...

I had a c64 when i was a youngin'. i've always had a computer / console around.

If I was a sad little boy id be too busy playin with myself to pretend to be a girl and post on here. :P

I know a variety of girls who play Fallout. Many of them I consider to be very attractive, even beautiful.

Hell, when I bought Fallout, one of my closest friends (a British Goth) nabbed it off of me to load on her own computer. That was about three years ago.

...I still haven't gotten the game back.

no offence but DAMN sounds like you guys were the dorks in high school who hung out in the AV room

No, I'm pretty sure you did mean offense with that. And what were you in high school then? The hunk who had fucked every single girl town?

As for girls and Fallout - To be honest I don't know any. I do know a lot of girls who play games, but most of the ones who are into RPGs prefer fantasy ones rather than sci-fi/post-apocalyptic ones.
Actually, I don't think I personally know even one girl that is interested in the apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic genre in general.

I know one. She actually enjoyed FO but never quite got around to posting anywhere. Yeah, they do exist, what's the big deal with that ;)
