Google Chrome

Yes. It's convenient, quick, has a sparse interface and seperates browser tabs into seperate processes so that if one of them crashes, not all of them crash (this still happens sometimes, though).

Also, wrong forum.

I just downloaded it and for whatever reason it's running as two separate processes. It also seems to be using more memory than IE8. I don't see anything particularly special about it yet.

BTW, just realized I posted it in the wrong forum. My bad.

I've debated switching to it. The separate process thing is cool and more importantly, it doesn't have firefox's memory leaks (my browser should not use up 3-600 megabytes of ram).

However, I love firebug/other firefox plugins too much to leave firefox.

Oh, that's what he meant by separate processes.

That's the main reason I want to switch from IE actually. I always run a couple of windows/tabs at the same time and they always tend to crash. Apart from that, if I'm not mistaken Chrome is also a little faster than IE.

Chrome is the very fast, simplistic and easy for use, you should definitly try it out.

I mostly use Firefox (84% of the time/ functionality) and Opera (15% of the time/ reliability), and lately Chrome (1% of the time/ speed). IE IMHO always sucked :p

Me tested it, me don't like it. Also it's still not very well worked out. So... wait a year or two and think about using it again.

Still, I stick to the Firefox.

Dunno, haven't had much problems with it to be honest. The only problem I had was when it decided that it would always use up an entire core about 2 minutes into launch and would not close down on my previous install. I have no idea why it did that, and after I recently reinstalled Windows it stopped doing it.

Also, if I'm not mistake Chrome runs a host process and then a separate process for each tab. Which means there's always at least 2 Chrome processes running.

To achieve the speed it has, Chrome really skimps on cached/caching data so if your internet connection is slow or busy with downloads you can experience slowdowns when going through a link and then coming back to the same page. other than that I havent experienced many problems with it.

(Thou on a related note i noticed that if you leave the computer open overnight with chrome open on a few big pages (like steaming videos ala Utube and such) it takes Chrome some time like 5-10 seconds to wake up again.)

I've tested it, and I liked it. But as most of the people, I'm addicted to firefox's plugins to just forget them. If someday Chrome begin to has its plugins...

No, you're not the only one . . . Though, the reason you use IE8 might not be the same as mine: I'm lazy, I get tired of having to reinstalling the Flash plug-in.

I use both Firefox and IE: Firefox eats my poor pathetic PC's memory ever so that I don't bother streaming in it; This I use IE for. Firefox I also use to manage bookmarks, and to turn Java and JavaScript on and off for both browsers conveniently.

Meh, it works?

i use Firefox & Opera most, but also Google Chrome for 'random browsing' (like reading webcomics, wikis, slashdot,...).

Am I the only one using IE8?

I'm still using IE 6.0. :D

For God's sake don't! I remember using IE only for years and every time I ran a scan I would uncover at least a few things.

Now I use Firefox and I almost never find anything when I do a scan. I imagine you, like me, are just stubborn and probably assume there's no real difference and believe me other than vulnerabilities there isn't a difference in browsers. However isn't that reason enough to switch?

IE6: Pre service pack Windows XP? Egad . . .

Update. :( For the love of RAM.

Then again, I still miss Windows 95 . . . Mmm, IE3.

Vulnerabilities?
Dude, this old, gargling, heaving machine of mine, a first generation hp pavilion pentium 4, isn't called Argo for nothing, you know?
Sure, it's a mess and parts got broken off and misplaced, software disappeared, texts, drawings vanished in the course of its lifetime, but it's such a goddamn mess, that theoretically it should have stopped working ages ago, yet it still hums with satisfaction, it still downloads porn with no major problems whatsoever. It's been gutted, dismantled and disjointed, yet it still breathes, it still does what I want it to do.
You can all take your vulnerabilities and shove them up your own tight dvd drive. My IE 6.0 stays. It rarely fails to do what I expect it to do and no one - watch the lips as they pronounce "no one" - will ever come between me and my crappy browser.

Also: updating windows xp takes forever, so fuck that.

if that's the case, i do hope you don't do any pc banking or online payments with visa or the like on that rig...
