But my example is the example of a society that Pariah Dog suggested as the perfect society to be safe. I was explaining why in that made up society, things wouldn't be as safe as Pariah Dog thinks it would. :nod:

Well they were part of the Southern California Gym circuit and that is just full of the scummiest people you can find. also being career criminals probably helped.

It was not pretty bad, it was actually pretty good. Or are you telling me that in a society where everyone has a gun and shoot "assholes" without punishment, there will not be thieves? Because there will be thieves the same, but since everyone can shoot each other and pull the "asshole" defense, the thief even has an easier job. He will shoot the victim, and steal all the stuff before the victim can even see the thief. If someone sees him doing it, he can just say the victim was an asshole.

I see you're saying my example is bad, but you don't give any examples on how it is bad.

You used a real world excuse, that the thief would instead turn to burglary, but burglary in a society where everyone shoots assholes, would be even more dangerous. Because if you break into someone's house then you're definitely a asshole and getting shot will be justified, and since everyone will have a gun in that society and can shoot...

So which one would be safer for a thief? Breaking into someone else house and get shot, or ambush people late at night in a quiet street and shoot before being seen and thus avoid being shot at?

So, your example was the bad one, since it doesn't apply to the "everyone has a gun and can shoot assholes" society. A society that my example was to show that it wouldn't work to make things safer. It would just make criminals shoot to kill instead of robbing you at gun point.
 
Not that there won't be thieves, but the wimpy thieves will turn to burglary, and the hardcore thieves will just tase you from a safe position.
 
"Just don't be a criminal". Seems easy, then all you need is to not be in an unfavorable situation, and then do nothing about it. After all, making the poor and the weak even less empowered (kind of funny when that's your argument for wide spread gun ownership) would totally not just make class differences even bigger. Is the same absolute dehumanization also warranted in crimes that aren't hurting anybody? Therefore, is someone's life worth immediate termination without trial when there's an option (there almost always is) because of infricting something as artificial and arbitrary as laws? Because oh boy, in that ideal world of yours, you better don't get caught littering or parking wrong! Make your prayers, motherfucker, any sort of normal procedure like an anonestation ticket and marking your driver's license were too much work anyway, they'd be too busy chasing people depositing their trash on the wrong containers.
 
Hm, building a hidden gun into the top frame tube of a bicycle would kinda sorta brilliant next time another fucking 40 year old in spandex on a super expensive carbon bike blocks my way by cycling at 20 km/h.

Not all crimes are equal, no. Victimless crimes shouldn't be considered crimes at fucking ALL IMO.
