yfk12, No it's not. Physics and Math is getting in your way. Right now our energy consuption is growing by 4% each year. Let us assume for am moment we would cover the whole planet with solar panels. In aprox 250 years you would reach the limit of what they can offer in energy.
I am all for renewable energy and geting rid of fossil fuels, but we should not bullshit our selfs. There is no 'green' capitalism. The United States has currently 268.8 million vehicles registered (stand 2016). Do you seriously see a possibility that all of those will go electric, when you consider how the resources for the batteries are mined? Let us not fool our selfs here. The issue we're dealing with, is exponetial growth and we will always hit physical bareers here, it doesn't matter if we use fossil fuels, or if all the sources are renewable. They have clear limitations and our current economic model is build around unlimited growth.
