Folks would be like "Ah, but it's not free because you pay taxes" as a gotcha.
You know what is great, not getting into debt because you had a heart attack.

Good citizen :). I hope the free health care was of good quality
Among industrial nations the US is one with the worst and most expensive health care system.

The United States spends the most on health care only to receive by far the worst performance out of 11 high-income countries, according to a new report out this week from the research group Commonwealth Fund.

Graded across 71 performance measures, the U.S. ranked last on access to care, administrative efficiency, equity, and health care outcomes. The nations surveyed in the analysis were Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States, which has consistently ranked last in the seven comparative reports the nonprofit organization has published since 2004.

Comparing income groups, the report found, “U.S. disparities are especially large when looking at financial barriers to accessing medical and dental care, medical bill burdens, difficulty obtaining after-hours care, and use of web portals to facilitate patient engagement.”

Higher-income Americans have a harder time accessing care than lower-income patients in other countries that provide universal coverage, the report’s lead author, Dr. Eric Schneider, told Marketplace this week. “The U.S. is such a low performer on several of these measures that if health care were an Olympic sport, it’s not clear the U.S. would even qualify to compete,” he said.

There are also studies which suggest that the most cost-effective health care system is actually a nationalized one.

The Danish healthcare system is universal and based on the principles of free and equal access to healthcare for all citizens. The healthcare system offers high-quality services, the majority of which are financed by general taxes. It's also free for foreigners visiting/tourists.

The Danish public health care system has a reputation for excellent standards and is ranked as 34th in the world by the World Health Organization. Spread across a peninsula and 70 inhabited islands, the country offers free universal treatment to all its citizens.

That's good. Does it cover Greenland ? I've no idea where the NHS of Britain is but I bet Cuba is near the top of the table.

OMG a nationalised health service is like pinko communism.

Ofc it covers Greenland aswell. Greenland is part of Denmark.
But if you're visting Greenland however.

"If you are a resident of the Danish commonwealth, you are entitled to medical assistance during a temporary stay in Greenland. You must however provide documentation showing that you are entitled to healthcare in Denmark or the Faroe Islands – otherwise, you must pay the expenses yourself."

Do they shoot socialists in Denmark ? I know they do in Norway. I think the Danes are great and Copenhagen is wonderful. (2 puns there) :)

Why would anyone shoot anyone in Denmark? Lol excuse me but that's a weird question. And say what now about Norway..? That's a weird statement. And thanks for the compliment.

I was joking. Anders Breivik ran amok on one of Norway's islands some time ago. He shot up lots of young socialist kids. I like making weird statements for a bit of impact lol
