Half Life2 out

Does what is going on ever get explained? I'm close to the end of the game, and I still have no idea what the back story is.

er... what do you expect from an action game?

Since it's a sequel, I expected some kind of narrative explaining how you went from Black Mesa to some bleak distopian future city, and why the same guys you were killing in the first one are now on your side. Yeah, it's an action game, but it seems a little stupid to omit it. In the first one, you know why you're fighting at least. This game, I have no clue, besides the fact that Barney and some scientists say "Kill them, Gordon!"

Thanks Suaside, I skimmed through that article. I guess that the "Why doesn't anyone tell you what's going on?" answer makes sense, still a little disappointing though.

Thank you very much for that link Suaside, it was very informative.

I have found some newspaper articles, etc. in places while playing HL2 that kind of tell you what is going on. I missed a lot of that stuff when I played the game my first time through. Now that I am playing it through again I try to look harder for things like that.

Well, HL2 Deathmatch is out, for those who have gotten sick of the Counter-Strike: Source multiplayer component.

Its a pretty good experience thus far but, from looking at it, I just don't understand why it was delayed at the retail sale since there isn't much to look at, really. Anyways, it's a real blast flinging debris and office furniture with the grav-gun and the physics really shines as you're tossing trash, bouncing back random projectings, and flinging back grenades.

Oh yeah, Steam is also allowing map downloads from the servers now (rather than disconnecting you). There's a few custom maps floating around for both Counter-Strike: Source and HL2 Deathmatch which should give you a little more variety.

CCR, just shoot the car with the gravity gun. You may have to shoot it more than once with the gravty gun for it to flip over.

OT: How big is the download version of Half Life 2? Is it same as DVD version (4 gigs)?

AAARGH  those fucking capitalists of sierra...
yesterday I wanted to play Counterstrike for the first time after a few months... argh... if anybody had told me that only CS II would work after the HL2 release... fuck

CS II doesn't exist yet dude (CS:S is NOT CS2)

wtf are you blabbering about?
