    Which scripts would I need to edit in order to make my Chosen One look like a hubologist while wearing the Bridgekeeper's Robes? Would there be a tutorial for something like this lying around collecting dust somewhere?

    The first problem's going to be whether the brown robes graphics actually contain animations for all weapons. I know that they can use knives and rifles, but those for big guns, spears, rocket launchers may not be there as they aren't "player" animations and never spawn with such guns, so they don't need them.

    essentially you can't just tell it to use a different frm. for every armour there is a different frm that is also seperate from npc frm's... meaning your metal armour male hero frm is actually going to be a different frm used that metal armour male npc's for instance. Kinda dumb and completely redundant if u ask me. What you can do, is transplant the grey robes frm's over the purple ones (the frames that exist for it anyway) and do the rest in photoshop if need be. Or just make your own armour, follow the same process but instead start off by using all the frames of the grey robes, adding in any missing ones using the purple ones, then photoshopping the rest.

    I've no idea how to make armour or weapons though.. i've only gone as far as scripting npc's and editing existing frm's... not making new ones.

    Yes I found it somewhat bugging as well. Changing the colors of the purple robes (having all animations) might not be so hard to do HOWEVER it is a huge amount of work changing all those frms..

    well on the plus side you won't need to change ALL of them. like i said, you can just directly transplant the grey robes frm's over to the purple ones. As far as i can tell, that means you dont have to do any smg, unarmed, death, idle, animations.. just recolour the purples ones like rocket launcher, miniguns, rifle (if grey has no rifle already of course). You should feel luckier than the guys making the npc armour mod... they gotta do pretty much all of it from scratch... erm, copy and pasting that is, but THAt alone is pretty time and effort-consuming imo :|

    The B-Team mod, to my knowledge, did something like this successfully with scripts. And I did consider recoloring the robes black (can't stand the default purple one) myself, but there are hundreds of mind-ripping frames to work on. Are the hubologists' robes actually identical to the purple ones, color aside? That would definitely make the task a whole lot easier if I were to take the recoloring option.

    i cant be 100% sure but i'm assuming they are identical. the devs had a habit of reusing animations for all their models they used (in fact if you look close enough you can actually see the bones moving the cloth mesh on the robes' throwing animation (grenades, etc)). Also i'm assuming they would be the same size in pixels as there would be no reason to have it otherwise, and so that rules out any chance of uncompatible frame offsets and stuff.
    hope that helps; and yeh i reckon those purple ones are kinda gay, i've always wanted to make some red or black ones isntead. would be a whole lot cooler

    Anyone have any idea what the hubologist FRMs are called? Some kind of list somewhere? I'd like to give recoloring the BMPs a shot.

    I think it would be easier to do a palette swap rather than editing all the FRMs, assuming all the purple-robed ones use the same palette. Just create a modified palette where the color codes map to the appropriate brown-ish colors, and do a mass-replace.

    how long would that take for all animations (guns walking death animations?)

    Wouldn't it be possible to just unpack the grey robe animations, rename them all from greyrobq.frm to prplrobq.frm and so on (note: not actual filenames), then put them in the art/critters folder as override files? This hinges on the grey set having the full range of animations, of course.

    I am working on a project similar as this for my mod, and if think i could give you a hand for this... Yes, the blue, black, brown, purple robe are identical.
    I already changed the color for some frm, including the robe, (just AA mostly), to make it green, black and red, black and white...

    They also are some FR0 FR1 files, but i don' t know what they are for, or how to change them.
    For the black robe, you would need to work on the following frm.

    BG Chestburst
    BLExplode
    E = Stick Animations
    F = Hammer Animations
    G = Spear Animations
    I = SMG Animations
    J = Rifle Animations
    K = Heavy-flamelaserbozargun Animations
    L = Minigun
    M = Rocket Launcher Animations

    How many time would it take? Well i don't know if ishould answer this... They are 70 files,6 direction with aproximatly 12 .bmp...
    With my methode you would need 10 second pro bmp...
    But that would still need 840 min so 14 hours... But by experience i don't think you can make more than one, maybe 2 files a day.
    Yeah, that's a lot of work, even divided by two... Another volonteers perhaps? It does'nt necessite any skills at all. Just a little of your time, 10,15 min for one file...

    Unless, maybe Kanhef could explain how to do this?

    In the detail I mean, which tool, which procedure cause right now for me it is too technical...

    I guess that works and save you thus the work of unarmed, SMG trowing, death picking up and maybe some other animations.

    As for the color swapping I'm curious what Kenhef had in might. Is there an aplication that swaps the colors automaticly? or does he mean like you already discribed Granyswandir since I get the feeling you swamp collors as well instead to do all your recolloring your self.

    I don't even remember there being robes of so many colors. I remembered there were the hubologists robes and the awful Children's robes, that was it. I'll give recoloring the black robes a shot, but I need to know their files names. Also, how does this palette modification business work? I'm dumb like that.

    Don't you remember fallout1, the elders robe (blue one) and the scribe one (brown) ?

    What do you means theirs files names?
    Morticia gave you the index of frm, and I gave you the code there is to modify...
    HAROBE is the purple one. Better extract all of it with fade, and then take what you need. So you will need to modify HAROBEBG, HAROBEBl, HAROBEEA,....till HAROBEMK (i think)

    I haven't played Fallout 1 in maybe ten years, and I'm too tired to figure out the rest of this now. I'll do it when I wake up. I definitely want to give this a shot.

    I'm guessing a bit here, but it looks like frms use master.dat/color.pal as the default palette. That can be changed with another pal with the same name (e.g. arroyo01.frm and arroyo01.pal in art/intrface). So modify the palette to replace purple with brown, and save a bunch of copies as HAROBE**.PAL .

    hmmm if that wil work it will work alot faster then huh. The picture robe (inventory) should change with the color of the ingame as well.

    Didn't a previous mod also try to recollor some combat armor?
    I believe to chance the NPC police suits. I believe they used the same way you discribed.

    Edit:
    Found the link http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40762&highlight=police

    These treads should probable be merged, imo

    I have no idea how to even create a new palette (hell if I know if I'm even using the correct terminology), or I'd be doing the replacements right now. I'm using Frame Animator, which has a palette color selection but no option to use the new color. Or maybe I'm looking at this all wrong.
