"I dn't want to go back to camp and fucking simmer down!!"Zeke screamed at vedpose. It had been a full 30 seconds and he hadn't calmed at all,but at least he had lowered his weapon from pointing at vedpose's forehead.

Zeke's eyes misted around the edges with tears."By the look on your face I guess you want to know what the hell is wrong with me."He wiped a tear away with his forearm."When I was born my mother died birthing me......she was sick and weak before she passed me and did not have the strength to stay alive...."Vedpose felt sincerely for Zeke but had no idea what this had to do with his anger....she knew she was soon to find out.

A great sigh escaped Zeke"So naturally as you might have guessed I had only my father left. He taught me and raised me and cared for me, I loved him dearly.Well one day he went hunting and never returned, and do you know why?" Vedpose sat there in suspense as if watching a spanish soap opera."I went looking for him after many hours....I found him.......face down.........with a golden gecko standing over him......he wasn't moving........lets just say politely that after 10 seconds neither was the gecko."Ezekiel was very pleased. For years he had to keep the burden on his own shoulders and now he had finally been relieved of it.Zeke dried his eyes again and continued."This vest is made from that very gecko......"He held his front flaps of the vest away from himself to accentuate his point."Now one may ask why I would choose this accursed skin as my armor......so that every time i got hurt because of the lifestyle that I was forced to live after my father died the damned gecko who did it to me would take the pain instead of me."

Better....Zeke felt a lot better. Of course Vedpose was shocked by the story and sympathetic by the simple nature of her gender. There were minutes of still silence that seemed to last forever. And Zeke stood up."Vedpose my friend, you are the first person who has ever learned this. You have relieved me of a great burden. Thank you. From now on when you need help I will always be there if at all possible

When next they descended, they went down two at at a time. First Caribe and Dwemer, then Sam and Inne, followed by the others.

Dwemer had managed a cling around the shotgun he had liberated from the weapons' locker. But he was thinking about what Roadrunner, the strange girl, had said about soulless things, about mad things in the abyss.

Indeed, rapelling down into the elevator shaft felt like sinking down into hell. That he had volunteered to go first, seemed, in hindsight, a bit foolish.

His feet connected with the elevator roof a moment after Caribe.

Caribe called up "Hold on up there. Let's not crowd up the elevator shaft."

Rich, who had not yet descended was standing next to Rob, who was watching the shaft with his rifle ready. Dwemer couldn't get over the feeling of having a rifle pointed at him, even if it was one of the good guys.

"Rich, on the schematics is there another way in or out?" Called up Dwemer.

Rich ducked back in and looked at the maps they had found on the first floor while Sam and Inne made their descent. Then Roadrunner and Melvin began to lower themselves down, Melvin seemed to be trying to help getting a rope sling around the new woman's rear end to help her lower down.

Rich poked his head back out. "No official way. Not even a stair well. However, there are air shafts through the complex and it would make sense that some shafts are still open for ventillation."

"Thanks!" Called up Melvin, then more quietly to Caribe, "Well that's not much help."

"Only one way to do this." Said Caribe.

Dwemer looked down and then lowered himself down into the bottom of the elevator, letting his legs slip into the cold black water.

The water was about two feet deep, but oiling and foul smelling. Worse, it was cold.

"You ok?" Asked Caribe.

"Water's freezing."

"Move around to stay warm." Offered Caribe for advice.

"Yeah, why don't you come down." Said Dwemer.

Caribe soon lowered himself while Dwemer provided cover. Sparks and loose wires down the corridor. Live wires, dangerously near the water. Flickering lights and little illumination.

Dwemer moved into the corridor. His foot hit something hard. Kneeling down he felt around. "Something hard and metal here in the floor."

Caribe helped Sam and Inne down, then moved into the corridor to help Dwemer lift it up.

It was an eyebot, but mangled and dented, as if destroyed by something very strong.

"You think the same thing that did this destroyed the robot sentries?" Asked Dwemer.

Inne and Sam shook their heads. Caribe was impassive, but from on the elevator roof Roadrunner dipped her head in and said. "I told you, beware of the soulless one in the abysis. But you did you listen? Nooooo."

Vedpose paced in a circle for a moment. That same fiery hatred had now turned into a deepening depression. What could she possible say in reply? She decided that she had best say something before Zeke put the colt .45 to the base of skull in an attempt to destroy his brain stem and end his life.

“So, what was your father like Zeke?”

Silence from the statue like Zeke.

“My dad is such an idiot. I remember this one time that someone traded us a busted plasma rifle; I guess that I was about 14 fourteen at the time. Well, my dad gets the grand idea that he can fix it. Now, my dad is an outstanding repairman, but he had a never fixed anything like a plasma rifle before, at least not without the help of my grandfather. So there we were with out a clue of what we were doing, trying to fix this gadget. I helped as best I could and we thought we had fixed the problem, a broken connection wire from the trigger to the power supply.

My dad decides that a second check isn’t necessary so he takes it out to the firing range and starts to test it. No sooner than he pulls the trigger then the gun starts to shake. He gets scared and throws as far away from him as he can. While he successful at removing the danger to himself, the gun lands on the car he had just finished rebuilding earlier that day. Now the problem with the plasma gun was a jammed shutter which was preventing the energy from leaving gun and causing it to build up. The gun keeps shaking and then it just explodes taking the car with it. My dad just stood there for a moment and then he started laughing hysterically at his own ignorant mistake. I’ll never forget that day.”

By this point Vedpose was having a hard time controlling her laughter at the remembrance of this event. She looked over at Zeke and much to her surprise he was smiling.

“So what you’re saying is that I should remember all the good times me and my dad had?”

”Yes.”

“Hey Ved, tell me about your family.”

“My family? What’s to say, we are all just a bunch of grease covered traders. We are also known for being scholars as well. There’s my grandfather, my dad, my mom, and my brother, Jonathan.”

Vedpose’s face suddenly turned white. That feeling of abandonment had caught up with her again. She felt like she had abandoned Jonathan when she had left.

“What’s wrong?”

“I was just thinking about my brother. I haven’t seen him in over a year.”

“Why not?”

“It’s complicated. Are you ready to go look for some food with me or not.”

Jonathan had never agreed with her decision to leave the shop and join the BOS and every time she thought it she wondering why she left her self.

“Are you coming?”

Inne kept walking in the dark cold waters. She saw the wires. "Guys, be careful! Damn wires near the water, if we trouble the friggin waters we will fry to hell!"

She said, and thought about the broken bot.

"Damn big thing broke it, or something really nasty is hiding in this place..."

ooc-continuing our little desert trek

IC-

"Ughhhhhh, I am so hungry I could die."Vedpose moaned dryly

Zeke keept walking while chewing on one of many pieces of meat jerky"Why don't you just ditch vegenism for a while and have a bite of this"

Vedpose launched a hateful glare at Zeke

"Fine fine fine, suit yourself. But in another 2 hours we will see who eats meat and who doesn't."

A flicker of color against a rock caught Zeke's eye and he stopped Vedpose."Hey look at that, a mushroom grove, its your lucky day."

Vedpose closed the distance between her and the food within a split second and ripped a shroom from the ground.

"wait!!! Some of those are-"

Vedpose let out a laugh between a full mouth of shroom"This is delicious zeke thanks for spotting it!!"

Zeke looked at her with his "what in gods name did you just do that for?" look

"Vedpose, what color was the top of that shroom?"

"Bluish purple, Why?"

"Spit it out quick!!"

Vedpose swallowed the shroom"What was that? I didn't hear you."

"Quick take off all of your outer layers of clothes!!"

"No you perver-"

"Trust me, you have a fever and need to cool down."

"But I.......feel................fine..................."Vedpose had gone into a hallucianigenic state.

"O shit, think Zeke what were those symptoms....."

"Ok first she will get fevered severely."

Zeke stripped her to her undershirt and underwear.

"Ok next she will become dehydrated"

He took his canteen and poured a healthy amount of water down vedpose's throat.

"Ok now she will get paranoia and hellish visions"zeke mentally rechecked his list of symptoms and realized a very important step he almost forgot.

He grabbed Vedposes weapons and set them far out of her reach.

All he could do now was to make sure nothing happened to her while she recovered from the effects of the mushroom over the next 2 hours..............

Vedpose was trying to keep a rational mind a midst the chaos that seemed to be flowing in her mind. But for every bit of effort, Zeke was still right; she was losing her mind. To top it all off, she had eaten four mushrooms not just one. She kept trying to think strait but the madness soon overtook her. An ancient work of the old world began to creep into her head.

You know I'm not dead
Now you know where I've been
As you sleep
Torn I am
Weighted down
Patiently
Born of love
You know I'm not dead
I'm just living in my head
Forever waiting
On the ways of your desire
You always find a way
And thru it all
Into us all you move
Forgotten touch
Forbidden thought
We can never have enough
You know I'm not dead
Found below
The creatures scream
Stranglehold
A god machine
Begging to
Tear us out
Worn as hope
You know I'm not dead I'm just the tears inside your head
Forever waiting
On the ways of your desire
You always find a way
And thru it all into us all you move
Forgotten touch
Forbidden thought
We can never have enough
You know I'm not dead

We all want to hold in the everlasting gaze
Enchanted in the rapture of his sentimental sway
But underneath the wheels lie the skulls of every c.o.g.
The fickle fascination of an everlasting god
You know I'm not dead

I'm just living in my head
Forever waiting
Forever waiting on cruel death
You know I'm not dead
I'm just living for myself
Forever waiting
You know I'm not dead

She just kept singing/yelling/screaming these words for a good half hour all the while flailing her left arm about acting like she was holding something in the other hand. She ran round in boundless circles and it looked like she was having massive bodily convulsions. Then she just stopped and stared at Zeke.

“I am going to eat your face off you razored armed rhinoceros demon. You think you can steal my blue frosted tumbler dinkles you damn son of a fool’s wife. You’re going to taste like a thousand sharpened dead babies roasting in the sun, for I am Mickey Rooney devourer of anti-carnage and dreams of devastation.”

“Ved?”

“Enough talk eye of the knife’s abyss, now you die.”

Vedpose ran right for Zeke and knocked him to the ground. She was actually trying to eat his face! He managed to get her off of him but she continued to attack. This went on for about fifteen minutes. Finally Zeke managed to get some rope and some how he managed to bind her hands and feet. It was probably best that she remained this way until she returned to normal. Zeke watched as she played out more illusions of dead baby eating and mindless battles with those who did not exist.

"Speaking of omens... what are we looking for down here again." Carib said as he scanned the darkness for any sense of danger. All he could feel was the cold water sloushing against his legs, soaking through his tanker boots and filling his soles. He hated that.

Carib had scavenged one of the .12ga shotguns and a pistol and some ammo when they broke the security lock.

"Dwemer. You think Rich could disable the power for this level so we don't get fried extra crispy down here. Better to be in the dark and the bots shut down then have to trudge through this smelly shit." He said from Dwemer's back.

Inne and Sam were behind him and he gave a quick glance to see if the ladiers were fine. Funny how fond of someone you can become when you spend enough time together. Still after all this was said and done, Carib would drag Inne into a hot bath and scrub her down: whether she liked it or not was her affair. And taking a quick wiff, Carib nearly recoiled.

I guess I could use some brahmin soap as well.

He spoke, and his voice already sounded familiar to her.
She was aware that he was near, few steps ahead. At the reach of...
What was that?
What are you talking about, Inne?
Inne swallowed hard, and said: Something... Passed near my leg. Something moved in the water... beware the beware the souless one... the words were echoing in her head, her heart was pounding.
Maybe some... Wiring, some tube or equipment...
Inne looked around, the hand with the armed gun, trying to see on the faint light of the helmet.
Maybe it was nothing dangerous, but I did feel something, heck! And what the f**k is wrong with this water? This oil... Smels like some dead gecko that s been lying on the sun too long! Lets move on, the faster we reach our goal, the sooner we leave this bloody lair...
The group moved at a faster pace (as much as possible in that cold dirt water) but she could not help feeling observed.

Dwemer heard Caribe's comments, even though he was hoping for silence.

"We're looking for the breach to the facility. From the computer and reports we saw, the director and marshal of the facility had reported that there was a chemical substance down here that they didn't trust. That and there is reason to believe that the integrity of this level was breached and the contaminants exposed." Explained Dwemer, who was privately thinking that it might have been better for Caribe to be thinking about why they were there and not about the women.

Rich, who had finally gotten down and was moving behind them, was looking for an electric panel. "If I can find a panel, I might be able to turn off the electricity. Still we'll be in the dark. And perhaps the fact that there are so many rad scorpions here might have something to do with the breach."

Inne was listening to this discussion, her mind still on the job on which she was assigned. "If we can destroy or trap the contaminents than maybe we can stop more rad scorpions?"

Someone chambered a round the sound of which made them all stop. Few sounds are more frightening than a shotgun chambered by an unknown party. But it was only Curt.

"Damn rad scorps been here for years. But I admit, when I was a kid there weren't any. Most of them thing move off but damn if they don't spawn like rabbits." Said Curt.

"Hey hold up. Got a panel." Said Rich.

Using a crowbar Rich worked open the panel. Inside was a small digital keyboard, and a series of circuit breakers.

"I think I got the circuits here. Hold on." He said, as he began to throw the circuits. But most were locked down. "Doesn't seem to want to work. Not all of them."

Over the blue digital screen a message. "Not Authorized for Function. Security Protocols In Place."

"Oops." Said Rich.

"Oops?" Said Sam. "Is that all you can say."

"Hey baby, leave the white boy alone. He's doing what he can." Chimed in Melvin. "Ain't no fault of his that he's not savy to the electrics."

The circuits Rich was able to throw turned off the electric lines, but also most of the lights. Now they had only the lights of their helmets for illumination.

Deep in the tunnels they hears something squishy and gelatinous move, but the didn't see it.

They paused waiting for more, but what ever it was moved away. Then something else, with many legs, scuttled along a wall.

"That sounds like it's on teh ceiling doesn't it." Said Melvin.

Then a droning sound, electical. Moving in their direction.

"Maybe we shoudl turn the lights back on." Said Melvin.

Inne was about to shush him, when a bot came through the dark, hovering above the water.

Had it meant any hostile intention, it would have needed no light, but probably would have picked out the group in the darkness. Even so it pass through the arc of the helmet lights and moved through the group back to the electrical panel Rich had just left behind.

"We have received a report that the electric system operating on this grid has been deactivated against facility protocols. Under function 2217A, I proceeded with return to normal function." Reported the bot.

No one said a word as the bot opened the panel and quickly began to turn the electricity back on.

"Finished. I will continue with scheduled tasks." Said the robot, now turning back towards the corridor.

"Wait a fuckin minute." Shouted Curt, "Can't you turn off that damned electric line so we don't fry?"

The robot turned about and gazed at Curt for a long moment, then it turned back so that it's sensors examined the electric line.

"That function has not been coded, but is plausible." Said the Robot.

"Well fucking A, fix the fucking line, damn it." Said Curt.

"Understood." Said the robot, now turning back to the line.

Using it's mechanical arms it began to work on the unit. "It is advised that you stand by while this operation is completed." Said the Bot.

THe group paused watching. When the robot had rewired the broken conduit it searched for a grate from the water, found it, picked it up and replaced it with one arm, while welding the panel back into place with another.

"Why didn't it attack?" Asked Sam.

"Not sure." Said Rich.

"I'll ask the metal fucker." Said Curt. "Hey tin can. Yeah, you robot. Why didn't you attack."

The robot turned to face them. "Combat and security functions are not encoded protocols. Do you have further requests for service?"

"Well then what are your protocols." Asked Caribe.

"Maintenance. This bot is to perform routine maintenance functions throughout this level of the facility. Do you have further request for service."

"Looks like a lot of fucking work, this place is a hole." Said Melvin.

"Affirmative. The facility has recieved a breach and has been flooded causing significant electrical and structural damage. Furthermore hostile lifeforms have destroyed most of the security units on this level." Said the bot, then it added. "Do you have further request for services."

"Are you able to identify these hostile lifeforms?" Richard asked.

"Negative, I lack the software for these purposes. For further questions concerning functionality please direct your questions towards the systemadministrator. Have a nice day." The robot replied before hovering away.

As the group pushed on in the cold and dirty water, Richard noticed the sound of insect leg kept following the group. On his guard he kept checking the back for possible hostile creatures but nothing was to be seen.

As the group reached an unidentified office in the middle the left corridor, Richard noticed that one of the ceiling tiles was missing. As the others stood there waiting for Dwemer to finish his quick inspection of the office a big spider crawled down from the ceiling onto the wall right next to Sam.

Both Richard and Carib noticed it at the same time and took steady aim to be sure not to hit Sam. The spider itself would be an easy target, as the span between the legs had to be about 30cm. Right at the moment that Carib was moving in and Richard was ready to fire a huge dark long shadow crawled down from the ceiling and ate the spider whole. Carib recoiled, from both fear and surprise, but pulled Sam clear of the wall.

The long, flattened, segmented black body crawled onto the wall and now was visible in the light of the helmets, it had to be about a meter long. Each segment had 2 pairs of very long, almost thread-like, slender legs, dark and greyish in color. The body was now better visible in the shimmering light and seemed brown or grayish-yellow in color and had three dark stripes on top.

As Richard slowly recovered from the surprise, he took 2 shots at what appeared to be the head. The silenced 'thuds' of his 10mm resonated through the hall. The creature immediately fell dead into the water.

"What kinda motherfucking shit is that!?!" Inne cried out.

As the group slowly approached the dead body of the creature, Carib and Rob kept the hole in the ceiling covered.

Richard took a hold of the floating body, trying to identify what it was. "Wow, that's one big insect Rich." Melvin said.

"So what is your analysis doctor?" Richard said while winking at Sam.

"Looks like a centipede to me." Sam replied after inspecting the carcass.

"I'd have to agree. luckily these buggers aren't interested in eating anything as big as humans, they prefer smaller insects like roaches, ants and spiders. They shouldn't be a threat to us, even if they are this big. However I fear this is a dark omen for what lies ahead of us..." Richard said with a light tremble in his voice.

It was getting to be the time when the sun went down and Vedpose was still trippin' out.

Zeke had been caring for her all day and was tired as hell.

So tired in fact that he seemed to slip in and out of sleep once he sat down.

eventually as he was drifting off he was awoke by a sharp metallic click.

Zeke turned around to see a raider holding a six shooter facing his general direction.

"Howdy,raider."

"Howdy,Dumbfuck."

"What brings you to my camp?"

"Her fine ass." The raider pointed at Vedpose lying tied in the sand in her underwear....completely defenseless.

"Over my dead body."three more raiders approached armed with clubs and knives.

"That can be arranged Dumbfuck."

Zeke chuckled and cracked his knuckles. His relaxed demeanor was beginning to rattle the raider.

"Just so you all know before I kill each of you my name isn't Dumbfuck. It's Zeke.

As Zeke's name left his tongue his hand shot to his belt and grabbed his knife which promply flew into the first raiders forehead to the hilt.

The other three backed a few steps.Zeke retrieved his knife and wiped it on the raider.

The three raiders ran as fast as they could but zeke drew a nailbombs an flung it 20 feet ahead of them. Before they even made it over the first hill in sight they were shredded by the explosion.

A half chuckled half pant left Zeke as he set to work looting and burying the raiders. He would have normally left them to rot but he respected people who could get the drop on him.

When Zeke got back to camp Vedpose had come out of her trip.

"Did anything happen while I was out?"

"Not a thing." Zeke answered in one of the most bald faced lies of his life

"Zeke."

"Yes?" Zeke answered from a nearby rock he was sitting on

"Why am I hogtied in my panties?" Vedpose asked in a suggestive tone

"To keep you from harming me." Zeke flatly stated

"Harming you?" Vedpose didn't quite believe Zeke

"You called me a rhinoceros demon and tried to eat my face."

"I see........Can you untie me now and give me my clothes."

Zeke blushed and set her equipment next to her while he cut her bindings.

Twenty minutes later

"Hey,Vedpose, do me a favor.....The next time I tell you not to eat something......For the love of God don't eat it."

Vedpose nodded and they started off on the trail to Shady Sands once again............

Sam walked wearly into one of the office rooms and saw scattared pappers and dark brown marks. It appeared to be dried blood that was spattered everywhere.

"This place is infested. Becareful. the roaches here aren't as benevolent as the centipede. They will attack you. Whatever made them big, aslo made them very aggressive." Sam deduced as she walked around, sticking close to the group.

Carib kept a close eye on one of the near holes. "I wonder what else has been living down here? Fuck it, I don't even want to know."

Inne was usually a quiet person. She did not talk when she did not have to. Instead, she had learned that much can be accomplish by observation - if one knows what to look for.

Those nasty insects might think of this hellhole as their home and we are the bugs, the trespassors...

You are saying that even if they would not normally be hostile, they would be willing to attack us?

Yes, just because we invaded their territory. Nothing personal. They are bigger, this also means that other things about them may have changed...

For example?

For example, maybe they dont know they are not supposed to eat us. I am getting annoyed as hell to this sound of insect following us around and we cant see them...Hey robot!

The robot had not gone too far, so it stoped on its tracks when heard her command.
Inne turned back and moved towards the robot. [color-yellow]You, do you know where the fucking hostile lifeforms have their lairs, where they group?[/color]

Inconclusive. I have some locations mapped, but they keep changing

In your security protocols, is there some sh...er, some command to destroy this base?

I should not disclose this information

Damn, I comand you to answer now. Its an emergency order, goddammit!

Emergency. According to earlier imputs, and classsified information data processed long ago, the answer is affirmative.

Damint Inne, what do you have in mind? - said Dwemer

Inne smirked and said: Just checking our options, in case the worst shit happens. Security bot, you are coming with us and will give us useful data about this place. Start now, your tincan. Seems you are going to be useful!

Fuck, reddie, you sure know how to command a bot! - Melvin said with a smile. - You like to be in charge, eh?

She did not even give him a look, as the group proceeded.
What a girl with attitude...I like that! - Melvin mumbled.

OCC- Folks, nice posts. I like that you are keeping the story flowing well. Pyro and Albatross- take the story where you need to.

ICC-

Inne was short. "Where's the emergency destruct? Take us there."

"The Emergency Control Office is located in the Fourth Quadrant. It is in this direction." Said the bot.

"Hey what about the breach." Asked Melvin.

"The breach in this level's structure is located in Warehouse 5. "

"Will we pass it?" Asked Inne.

"Affirmative."

THe bot turned Dwemer smiled. It was a smart move for Inne to keep the bot around.

But otherwise he wasn't enjoying this at all. It was dark, too damn dark. The cone of light offered by the helmet lights offered little illumination. ANd the fact that the bugs might come up from above, didn't sit well. Any moment one of those bugs might crawl out from above and snatch up one of them, like it got the spider.

Dwemer didn't like the cold water that was sloshing through his boots. The entire place stank, was slimy, and just oozed with a sense of malice.

Still he tried to remain focused as the robot led the way down a corridor, around a corner and towards a door. On the door's exterior was marked "WAREHOUSE 5"

As the bot was about to open it, Inne said."Wow wait a minute robot."

The bot froze.

"You think we should check this out?" Asked Inne. "I mean what the fuck might be in there?"

Dwemer wasn't sure, and looked to Melvin. Melvin was standing towards the rear and was checking out Roadrunner's body. Which was probably why he didn't notice that there was a large insect that was touching his large afro with it's long needle like manticles.

After a few more days of marching Zeke spotted a silhouette in the distance.

A quick nudge grabbed Vedpose's attention.

"Look!! A town!!"

Vedpose glared into the distance

"I believe you are right."

They were both at a loss for words due to the shock of imminent return to civilization

Zeke seemed a little stunned "Uhh....shall we.....?"

Vedpose nodded slowly "I guess so....."

:::2 hours of hiking later:::

As the duo approached the outskirts of the town a shot pinged into the ground next to Vedpose

"Get down quick!!"

more shots followed hitting the ground nearby.

Then Zeke and Vedpose had guards standing over them with weapons at the ready.

A man with a hunting rifle approached "You are to surrender your weapons and follow me."

The pairs hands were tied behind their backs and they were led into town at spearpoint.

The man with the rifle turned to face them. "You fucking raiders make me sick."

Zeke straightened himself. "Who the fuck do you think you are calling us raiders? I am a fucking hunter and she is a damned merchant so if you morons could untie us or at least think before you act we would surely appreciate it!"

The man was caught off guard."Fine you aren't raiders.....but you will stay secured until we can get you into town and question you."

Zeke relaxed understanding the man's dilemma."Ok then lead on sir."

And so they had entered shady sands............

If ever there was a time when Melvin got pale, it was then. He went almost white.
For while he was distracted in contemplation, suddenly Innes spear hit his afro, nailing some of his hair to the wall.
Damn, kid, dont be jealous! Melvin has sweet love to all the pussy...

Shut up and look at the wall.

Fuck! - said Dwemer

The spear had pinned the bug like a butterfly in a collection.
Before Melvin could reply, the group moved ahead.: Inne opened the door.
Warehouse five was as dark as the corridor, and yet, there was a difuse, low red light on the place. Inne moved her eyes carefully, trying to make out what was in that huge room. Lots and lots of crates, plenty of room.

Lots of hiding places for our six legged foes...

Worse, there could be more than a whole colony of them in here...Maybe a whole biosystem of many insects

Bot, any insigth on this ?

Yes - said the bot - Good luck, dont let the bed bugs bite!

Inne widened her eyes and, pale, turned to the bot. What the heck did you just say?
The robot buzzed and twirled: My programer used to say that...I speculate it could be appropriate.
Damn, for a moment you sounded like you could react or something...
Yeah, he sounded emotional

Inne sighed. Ok lets get this done. And so the group proceeded.

Carib grabbed his flare and tore the ribbon. A bright amber light shown and couple lesser insects and archnids scuttered away. One ended at the bottom of Caribs' boot.

"I hate bugs." he said, flare balanced in one hand and SIg Saur P220 in the other.

Sam smiled. "The bots at the time were programmed to sound... emotional, thus portraying a certain amaibleness about them. Besides, I think mauybe the robot might have improved himself over the years. Collecting data is one of their function and so, over time, it developed itself. Becoming better. That sort of activity was most seen in the Brain bots. But anything is possible." Sam theorized.

Inne passed her hand in the straight red hair and said:

Damn, I never though this could be, robots that fake emotion... Ah, come to think of it, Ive seem people who fake emotion, but robots is the first time... Ian came to her mind, but to her surprise she was feeling ok and even smiled. It was as if he was getting farther and farther from her mind.
My pleasure to be of service - said the robot.

Eh, I like you already! I think I am going to keep you! Will make a hell of a pet! and she tapped the robots head.
A smile shone in her face, the white, freckled skin. Her green eyes were shining and it was the first time anyone in the group could recall seeing her so relaxed... And smiling in a joyous, spontaneous way, instead of the tense or agressive look of usual.

Carib was watching her and could not help a smile. He got closer and said in her ear:
So you do have a sweet side... I was right!

Inne was so glad the place was so dark... Nobody could see her blush.
Hushily, she said:
knock off this nonsense, we have a job to do! she said, and kept walking. The group followed in the order as previously.

Soon they reached the security breach.

Sam and the others, go ahead. Sam, later on, can we talk?

Sam smiled, "Sure, Inne. We can chat later. If we make it out of here alive." Sam checked the rifle was now about ready for any hell spawned bug to pop out of the wood work and meet its maker.
