Miles shook the radio and grimaced...no answer either they where all dead, unlikely or the caverns where interfering with the trasmissions.
"Alright, Listen up get your weapons ready and then we are moving into this cavern, keep your eyes open and your ears clear" Miles steeled himself against what was to come and made sure his equipment was ready.
Slipping past the debris as quietly as possible he viewed a medium sized cavern, a pool of water was collected in the center and moss grew on the walls. The ground was damp and looked rather slick in places, algae or some other plant life seemed to grow around the edge of the water, all available light was reflected in small facetes by the walls. The remains of several humans where in the far corner of the area along with several dropped items.
Nothing moved in the chamber, even the air seemed to be stifling, trying to calm himself Miles moved into the cavern and kept against the wall breathing shallowly.Inching farther his back pressed against the wall, Miles worked his way around a large rock pillar.
The shadows moved...Miles froze, the assault rifle's muzzle swinging up toward the shadow.Nothing moved..Miles relaxed and kept moving slowly into the cavern. The farthest corner of the cavern seemed to have a depression in the wall a bunch of what looked like cracked eggs where gathered. Miles counted at least 3 broken eggs and what looked like 4 unhatched ones.Something moved among the stalagmites near the caverns northern half. Moving with great care and caution all his senses on high alert Miles approached the human remains.
Water dripped from the roof into the pool and the stench of what little remains where around grew as he got closer. Working his way across the cavern in the open Miles crouched and examined the remains. They had been dead for weeks possibly..or Death claws eat everything but the bones, Miles didn't know he never had encountered these before the past few days, but he had heard storys from the other recruits. A stone rattled behind him, Freezing Miles kept his eyes straight ahead, slowly glancing behind him.
The young deathclaw only saw food infront of it and the food had entered its lair...Mile's heart was beating a mile a minute, why hadn't it attacked yet. Tensing suddenly Miles rolled left trying to bring the Assault rifle up to at least get a shot off.Rolling and trying to stand didn't work, the algae on the floor causing Miles to lose his footing and start to fall.
Seeing his meal move the young Deathclaw struck quickly, its claws catching the creature in its left side.. Mile's left arm went numb and his fall got Disrupted, grunting as he Landed and slid across the stone into the water, his assault rifle clattering down next to him. Grabbing the assault rifle with his right hand Miles maneuvered the muzzle towards the claw and squeezed the trigger, not caring about shot grouping or his breathing a quick staccato burst of bullets struck the claw in its chest, a few penetrating, the rest bouncing off or just scratching its tough hide. The deathclaw stopped at the sudden assault, dropping the Assault rifle Miles reached for his sidearm, having trouble freeing it from the left side of his body with his good hand.Bringing the .45 up and squeezing off four rounds at the deathclaw, Miles tryed to stand up, his arm shaking from the pain in his left side. The deathclaw turned suddenly its tail sweeping Miles off his feet, the shock of landing on the stone floor sent agonizing waves of pain threw his body the pistol slipping out of his stunned fingers, the claw still hadn't turned all the way around, giving Miles enough time to roll further into the water, his side burning with pain as the dirty water immersed him.
god I hope those hate water.....Holding his breath miles waited under the water hoping the creature would go away.
