Is it all teenage kids on here, or are there guys in there 30s who still enjoy fallout? And if so, are you like those cliche guys who live in your mother's basement? or do you have a wife and kids and everything else

Well, I'm 30...
Although I live alone, cause I am a crotchety loner.
No wife, but girlfriend... and no kids here... my mother wouldn't allow it
:D

You tell me. Which are you?

A lot of the members here have been here since the beginning. I myself have been posting since '98, even if my current account belies it. I'd be pretty bummed if this place were to vanish. I've been an Orderite for almost as long, though, and, as has been said by others, The Order existed independently for years before coming here. Wherever they (we) landed is where I'd end up hanging my hat.

For my gaming fix, The Codex is a little too immature for my tastes (and not play-immature like tO... real, honest-to-God fanboy immature). I'd probably end up washing up on the shores of GameBanshee so I could continue to be lorded over by the firm but supple hand of Brother None. He's so dreamy...

Well I would be pretty disappointed if this site died considering that I joined a couple days ago. If it happened though I would probably head over to the Total War Center forums.

I'd replay the original Fallout, again, and keep saying, "There's no place like home! There's no place like home!"

If NMA died what would you do? Would you try to bring it back?
I'd ask BN for the backups and Odin for the domain. I'd just host it myself.

But NMA isn't going anywhere, TorontRayne. Not without the mod & admin team first getting murdered.

I've been planning to murder Kharn for a loooong time now.
It's hella difficult though, the little bitch rarely leaves his appartment.

That's why there are missiles and bombs.
Sure there is some collateral damage but I dare the little f****** to escape that.
Muahahaha!

Our hosting is really stable and trouble-free, too. More than admins changing and stuff like that, the only real "immediate death" I could foresee (other than a Bethesda C&D) is Atomic Gamer collapsing, and they seem to be doing fine.

As for AtomBomb's question, I guess most of us old guard were teens when NMA started, or in our early 20s. Late 20s/early 30s seems to be common now, career, married, etc etc. Often hard to combine with online activity, of course, so many disappear into the background. But we get some new, fresh blood occasionally too, so.

It would be a very tedious task to find a similar community, if that is at all possible. I may have not tried enough, but i'm not aware of a similar place to this, where there would be such a plethora of various discusions and thing to read that generally fit my intrests, with the bonus of the community being almost deliusonist free. So yeah, it would be a sad day.

Good to know. I joined when I was 19, so NMA has been an important part of my adult life. My posting habits haven't always been steady, but I always migrate back to the NMA hive-mind no matter what is going on in my life.

That would more or less be my reaction.

Petition to take your NMA news spot.

Why? I know some downloads are going over atomic gamer but what does that have to do with this board and the site itself?

They're our host, as well as running our ad network (we don't make any money of ads, it's just a host-for-ad deal).

We should probably go independent. We're big enough to. But we never have.

Nah, that's not really an issue i mean nothing would be lost and even if some data went missing, like an attack or something, that wouldn't be the death of NMA. Bethesda could have a better shot but i don't think that it would pass in courts, after all we are just a bunch of littler haters.

You're assuming there'd be people immediately available to get the site back up on another hosting solution. That's where I'd put up question marks.

It wouldn't get to courts. We don't have the clout/finances to take it to court, we'd just cave in.

Would a C&D even be lawful, though? NMA doesn't even bill itself as a Fallout fansite on the mainpage anymore (nor, honestly, does the average newspost suggest it). We make sure to keep our noses clean with regards to decency standards and piracy, and all activity here concerning their IPs (according to my armchair understanding of pertinent laws) falls under Fair Use or First Amendment protections.

What i meant was there wasn't a similar case before that set the precedent (atleast i dont know of any). I don't think that they could get a c&d order.

EDIT: I don't really know how that works in america but they can't just spew out c&d's, can they?

Picking the site back up wouldn't be a problem, hell if shit goes down i'll step up and i'm certain i wouldn't be the only one. Sure it would take some time but there's no rush. Have some faith dude.
