I'm Sorry for supporting Bethesda

It's okay dude.
I enjoy Fallout 4 but I will admit it has a tonne of problems, namely it uses te Fallout name.
But yeah, I've enjoyed Bethesda over the years, but I will admit, they aren't the company I thought they were. They've shown themselves to be another typical publishing house, rather than the exception.
There are some very talented people working at Bethesda, but they are put down by those who are lucklastre.

Michael Kirkbride. He did leave during the development of Morrowind, and to be honest, Morrowind's lore was also taken from existing ES lore, so he would have had a significant impact on Morrowind anyways.

From what I've seen of reports, interviews and all the other stuff, Todd Howard strikes me as the kind of guy who would be good at holding a team together and pushing a project in a direction, but not the one who chooses what direction. In a better team under better circumstances, I'm sure he could be doing better than what we've seen so far. Truth be told though, it's all guesswork.
In my opinion, Todd is what I would describe as very skilled salesman and entrepreneur, someone who can really enthuse people for ideas, but he does not strike me as someone who is a creative artist or visionary creator who is constantly coming up with new things. He is the kind of guy, that I want to give an already existing project and find a way how to sell it. He's pretty good with it, you have to give him that. But when you look at the people behind Fallout 1, they are not salesmen, they are creators. They love crafting worlds, lore, and thinking about every tinny detail here. I think it becomes very clear when you look at Todds and Boyarsky or Tim, and comparing their design principles. I don't think that the one is superior to the other, don't get me wrong, I just feel they can't be applied on everything. Fallout was never meant to be a prouduct for the masses for example.

I was just talking about Todd himself, not Fallout directly, and how being good at marketing and pushing ideas is not necessarily a bad thing. Lying is indeed a very human thing and an actual skill, even if not the most morally justified of skills. I feel like there have been many famous entrepreneurs criticised by a minority for the same thing - being called a visionary despite only selling ideas and not really creating them. I'm just saying that I find nothing wrong with that, at all. Is Todd Howard the right guy for Fallout? No. But his influence on Fallout as it currently stands is a completely different matter, and not the point I was making.

(Finished my first run-through of Undertale, so that's who your avatar is, now I feel very persuaded to punch you @Crni Vuk)

You've committed the ultimate sin and you must be cleansed. But don't worry, when you are cleansed you will be welcomed into the NMA community as a free man/woman/attack helicopter.

...Anyway, sorry for being a Bethesda fanboy. I've tried going to Fallout communities like Reddit, but I was turned off by how circlejerky it is. I hope NMA is more reasonable.

We are, as you've seen.

Me, I started with Fallout 3 as well, shortly after I got into STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl and long after enjoying Morrowind and Oblivion. Then I played 1 and 2 before New Vegas came out. That was what opened my eyes a bit, but it wasn't until I caught wind of story breakdowns that I realized how boned Fallout 3 was in terms of storytelling and game world logic.

As for the circlejerking, that's probably due to the very incorrect assumption those sites have about Bethesda being one of the last great companies against a backdrop of unscrupulous publishers and devs. If they paid more attention and did more criticizing, they'd realize how wrong they are.
