Intro

Well, in that case, I'd like to see rammstein, metallica (woot), michael jackson singing Just Beat IT when any bad guy comes up to you, Blue Oyster when you are "doing" it. And Bon Jovi It's my life when you died and your skeleton appears!

(no, this music does not combine well with Fallout, it's like elevator music changing to heavy metal. We all know what elevator music is like, and it's just got to be like that, otherwise, you will be afraid of getting on! )

hmm, well i read somewhere that fallout, as a post-modern game(or something like that) is reflecting the time it was made in in some aspects, i know its not really the time of metallica, i just suggested them because i like them alot

Hmmmm.......
Frankly, I always wanted to hear AC/DC do a version of the Hokie Pokie but I don't think it fits in Fallout.

 We just have to make sure that BIS uses the Inkspot's version of "We'll Meet Again". (Who says record labels haven't always been interested in milking songs for everything they're worth?)

Incidentally, this brings up something that some of you are getting wrong. Namely, that FO has relied on "'50s music". This is untrue, even if we discount FoT. "Maybe" was released in 1940, and "A Kiss to Build a Dream On" was released in 1936 (IIRC, the dates may not be exact, but they are definitely pre-1950).

A lot of songs that were popular during WWII would make fitting music for FO3, since they deal w/issues like loss, longing, hardship, etc. But basically the music should probably come from the '30s, '40s or early '50s.

Cheers,

OTB

I didn't say that, I said the music had to fit the 50's setting, which those songs do.

Oh, yes, German march music!

I didn't say you said it, Kharn. I was addressing something that I've seen not just here on NMA, but also DaC and the IPLY boards. I did not wag the Finger of Scolding +3 at you, and I'm sorry if it came off that way. :)

Before I get my copy of FO3 and find Das Panzerlied in the intro, let me qualify my earlier statement w/"music popular in the US during WWII".

Folowing some logic order the next intro song should be cherful song since at the end of FO2 (well at least for me) everything turned out OK where everything started to rebuild and be prosperous. But this only imply on Northern California.

Rest assured, had I thought you were wagging the finger at me, I'd have removed the offensive object (being the finger)

You are giving ideas for intro :!: ??? :!: Wow! Take it easy. You are going way too deep in the developing process. None of us gamers can come up with such a piece of art, the developers should make.
:!:
I think the only thing that we can help by discussing this matter is screw things up, if anyone of the developers pays atention to this.

P.S. That's correct Stu! You are doing SO much better than the others...

Erm..what's wrong in posting about what you'd like to see in Fallout 3 ? and also ideas for Fallout 3 ? Doesn't mean that the Devs will follow our strange ideas, but they could catch some ideas from a discussion like this..

Intro idea

Well lets see wasn't the Faq was talking about Colorado, how about a John Denver song...hell that would make a great Easter egg... find the wreckage of John Denver in some high mountian top with two bottles of rotgut on him....

My other picks for songs would be Ink Spots "Got the World on a String", Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong "They All Laughed" Billie Holliday "These Foolish Things"

As to what the intro could be, I think they should depict the nuclear blasts that rendered the world into the sate is is in.

Fallout 3

Opens to several 100 chinese and americans fighing in an urban setting with cries of civilians and etc. The action slowly pauses as a large streak passes overhead, the men woman children and soldier all pause an watch it fly. Then it fades to white...

War...war never changes...

The camera soars over the barren wasteland devoid of life. The narrator discusses how life is relisilent and tenacious. The camera flies over the wasteland showing the mutations and creatures emering out of the ash. Then the camera continues to fly and we see the development of settlements.
"But starting over, has its challenges"
The camera zooms to various areas could depict scenes of strife, raiders, deathclaws, people emerging from vaults, even bits from the vault dweeler and chosen one on their respective quests, Finally the camera would continue to soar and in time lapse we would see that life is clearly on the rebound and in zooms into the starting area of the journey "but that all could be changing yet again"

I could write it out in screenplay form and have yet another epic length post :)

Great storyboard Eraser, bur still we know the game will be more like FO1, with less tech, more decay, maybe you could tweak your intro to catch that feeling?

bored * I had freetime, MS paint and power point and made a slide show of the Fallout 3 intro I had in mind...
I only hope Fallout 3 has better graphics....

If you feel inclined to down load it I posted it here...

www.geocities.com/spyhunter99/

the do save target as on the download link...

you should get the file...

Enjoy?

Set it to whatever tune you want...

I still like "i've got the World on a String"...

I almost put the some on the page but the damn RIAA is everywhere...

Am I the only one who saw the analogy of the GECK being the kiss that you would your dream on? The way I see it, what better analogy than that of an object which will practically solve your life in the wastes which you would be willing to sacrifice your life for equating to the kiss that Louie asks that girl (I don't think Louis was a homo) for? A kiss that he would build his life and expectations around?

Whomever designed the FO2 intro is a genius IMHO.

I didn't get to0 much into the FO1 intro as I had never listened to the Inkspots before so it didn't click any switches inside of me although it's beautiful music.

That line is so general it could be taken to mean pretty much anything if you're willing to look at it metaphorically.

I'd say it's not just about the choice of the song itself, but how it was altered for use in the intro. It's sped up, has lots of hiss and crackle in it, etc., just like it might sound on a battered piece of vinyl, being played on a junky old record player. All of this to make it very much appropriate to what's being shown in the intro.

Nice intro Erasermark!! I liked it! Of course I also expect better graphics, but the idea was great, and the text is good to! Congratulations for the hard and good work!

I didn't invest to much time into it...but thanks for the cheers...

I was just bored and didn't feel like writing anything, soi tooled around with that...

Maybe somebody will do a Version 2...now that would be funny...
