IS Fallout New Vegas better than 4?

Definition of spin off acording to this wikipedia page

"Any narrative work, derived from one or more already existing works, that focuses, in particular, in more detail on one aspect of that original work"

Let's assume this is true, and that either the isometric games or first person games(As this idiot was implying) no longer have enough in common with the main franchise to be considered part of it.

1 and 2 aren't derived from already existing works, they are the already existing works. 3, New Vegas and 4 are derived from them. That means if anything, the newer games are spin offs.

And the newer games don't focus on any aspects of the original work. They simply took it, and put it in to first person(Which had nothing to do with the original franchise). At least Tactics took the combat side, focused on it and improved upon it, the modern games didn't do anything of the sorts with the originals.

This means that not only are the modern games the ones that are separated from the main franchise, but there so divided from the main franchise that they don't even count as spin offs.

Good fucking job Bethesda, your role in the franchise is so minor, you don't even count as a spin off.

"Fallout 4 is better with the plot twisting".
That'd be because NV's plot was perfect enough that it didn't need a shitty twist.

Fallout 4 has a better "twist" because NV didn't need one. In it's place we had a plot that made sense.

I got 10 minutes in
Not even I'm massochistic enough to watch this whole.

I would argue that NV is worthy of the title "sequel". I mean, it's not van buren but... Its certainly at least worthy of the fallout name. (Unlike these... Side attractions Beth is numbering nowadays).

I consider New Vegas more of an epilogue to the first two. But that's mostly due to how close it is with F2. But for me, F1&2 make up a duology which comes full circle by the end of F2 before New Vegas comes in and details the aftermath.

So he doesn't remember this game that is supposedly better? The original games are spin offs?
Are the original Star Wars movies spin offs? Are the prequels better because you watch them first, think they're pretty and dismiss the originals?

But in all seriousness, please stop threads like these, it's not funny to make fun of people with mental disabilities.

"Fallout 4 has better twist..."

Literally months prior to getting Failout 4 I made a 'joke' to my now wife having watched some of the promo material... In jest I said "I bet it involves hunting for your lost loved one who then turns out to be the main bad guy."

Fast forward a couple months, and within minutes of playing the intro... I swore rather loudly and me wifey comes to see whats wrong, I'm pointing at the screen and yell "I fucking told you so, I fucking told you!"

Even before I'd arrived at sanctuary hills after the vault exit I had quite neatly explained the entire plot of the game I was yet to play.

Plot twists are nice when you don't foresee said plot twist arriving like the 7:14 from London on platform 2. I had to go through the game hoping I'd be wrong, hoping it would offer some genuine intrigue, some intellectually rewarding experience, but no... no. I was sadly let down as things 'shockingly' twisted at the end. I got so bored toward the end I just started goofing about having lost all suspension of disbelief to the game world.

The things was so predictable that to hold it aloft as one of the redeeming factors just makes me cry Farnsworth.

"Worst game out of the three".
"The first two doesn't count".

Aaaaand there's where I'm going to stop watching. Fuck that guy. Someone who can bear to listen to a pink potato for 26 minutes; kindly provide a summary of the inane shit he spews.

Agreed. I also cut this Johnny-come-lately blob off right then and there-- not even twenty seconds in.

I, on the other hand, can do without a summary of his fatuous ramblings.

OK, I've suddenly given a shit. So one completely retarded line this blight on the face of the earth has is that "the first two games don't count."

That's wrong. The first two games do count. They count more than any other game you fat land whale with no taste in haircuts! The first two games are the basis and the entire reason the fucking franchise exists in the first place! And if the first game alone wasn't as amazingly near perfect as it was, your beloved retarded Fallout 4 wouldn't even be a reality! SO OF FUCKING COURSE THEY COUNT! YOU BRAIN DEAD MOLERAT!

If anything, the Bethesda made ones don't fucking count, because of how much they contradict the entire fallout universe that was near perfectly crafted and explained! Not only that, but they're made by a completely different set of jackasses from the first two games! Obsidian may be a different dev company, but it's still widely comprised of the same people who worked on the original Fallouts! And even then, Obsidian has shown in the past to do games like Fallout well! Like they did in New Vegas!

And further more, this other line I'm hearing mentioned that "Fallout 4 has better twists" that's because New Vegas didn't need to rely on a shitty twist to get retarded fanboys like yourself talking about it! New Vegas is a well crafted story with multiple different outcomes that don't just rely on who you pick to side with! You can have two different mojaves and still side with the legion!

And as underdeveloped the legion may be, they're still a million times better than the institute, who make fucking gorillas for funzies with no forseeable reason aside from having them kill the suddenly insane scientists!! As illogical as Caesar may seem, he makes much more sense than Father, who decided to just let you roam free in the wild in the hopes that you would find him eventually!? GOD DAMN! I can't even fully put into words how stupid he is! I feel like he does the talking for himself! Christ!

Sadly this guy isnt the only one with this opinion, moronic as it is. I think most people with half a brain predicted fallout 4's entire plot as soon as the cryo chambers appeared, the "plot twist" can be seen from a fucking mile off....and yet Bethesdas style of flashy moments and constant drips of bling seems to win people over.

New Vegas on the other hand actually had believable factions, political manuvering, gangs/raiders that actually had character a story that tooks its time to develop taking you from a nobody to a power player over time (as opposed to general of the minutemen within 10 minutes of meeting them)...Beth fans just cant handle a slow pace, they need bangs and instant gratification, even if the delivery is shallow.

I would say the Legion are under-represented rather than underdeveloped. Their history and details are all there, it's just that there isn't much Legion content in-game. Plus the terrible combat and engine doesn't do their guerilla and melee-based tactics justice.

Everything relevant was said between 0:21-0:22.

The only thing, from a glance, that I would agree to at least some degree with is that New Vegas is a tad overrated. A number of reasons for that, one of which being that the foundation it was built over was full of shit.

I got very close to the plot twist when I said to a friend 'The game will involve you finding you son and you may be forced to fight him at the end. Maybe the main villain turns him into a cyborg or something' I'm paraphrasing a bit there, but the fact I got the most important parts makes me feel annoyed.

I can do this script, why doesn't Betheada just hire me and let me take over the plot?

I can do better than Emil.

I'd shit my pants against the Legion in a game within their territory and with a better engine.
Imagine being part of a NCR batallion (thus explainging starting low tier gear and skillset), and then separated from your squad becouse of an ambush or accident. You are lost in a foreign territory, only helped by your crudely drawn map (or not, if the game world is well designed you can go away without one).
Then, you have decisions to make:
- Leg it, be a deserter and try coming back home? You have things to live for and there must be some transport means around...
- There are (Legion?) Civillian settlers in the frontier, tough people used to shortage and hard times, unlike the fat oligarchy back in their capital (?). You'll need them for mid-term survival, and maybe you'll get to understand them and help them (Maybe independence, rival forces or the NCR itself)
- The infamous Legion. Maybe they aren't all bad, they never are. Maybe i could join them, truthfully or not (become @DrFallout , basically)
- And of course, try and get to the rest of your teammates and continue the mission. Or not, of course. Your equipment might have broken and you'd need ressuplying. Unless your commander is particularly ruthless...
- There are rumors of a third player in the war...

When it comes to gameplay, we basically could New Vegas again :D I wouldn't mind having the full Hardcore mode (including DLC, as most added something to it) and the same extent of crafting. A feature, not making the game Rust.
In a possibly better engine, i'd pick this balance: melee is a frenzy and will shred at close quarters, but on an open field it means a fat chance of death. The weapons could be realistic; not 1-shot anywhere and dead-realistic, but NO bullet sponges unless circumstances say otherwise. Big recoils and knockback as rule.
Not much more saying on gameplay.

AKA: "I could do better game development than bad voice actor."
Not really selling yourself here Millim. Might as well say you don't need your mom to wipe your butt when you poop, (no offense to people that need their mom's to wipe their butts when they poop.)

I feel like I could write decent lore. (Though that is definitely the easiest thing to write) but when it cones to dialogue I am so not your guy..
