As the title says, do you guys think Todd Howard is a good game developer/designer based on his work?

Not sure, which games did he actually developed? There are games I know he was "involved" but I don't know which ones he was actually involved in all or most part of the games.

He strikes me as someone who actually loved RPGs in the past, but he seems like he doesn't play those anymore and doesn't seem to know much about the broad gaming market anymore. He seems like he only knows of the most famous games at the moment. I say this because of the interviews he have done since the early 2000's to this day. He never mentions any games besides the popular ones at that time. He also strikes me as he doesn't participate much in game developing anymore and just approves stuff other people suggest.
For example in the E3 before Fallout 4 was released he seemed a bit lost playing the demo part of the game, he seemed to not be able to explain things and was always very vague (like he had never played it much at all, just got used to the controls and that was probably it).

What kind of good we are talking about here? good at his job or have good will? because he is good at his job about use his sweet lies to hyper up a game and create lots of blindly supporters, yet he don't really have the good will to properly respect a beloved franchise and its long time fans like he claimed.

I think he could do a lot better if he weren't so tightly bound by corporate red tape, releasing games in half-finished states, using customers as beta testers, these actions reek of corporate interference and trying to "maximise profits".

Hard to say. He needs to surround himself with people that will creatively challenge him on ideas. It seems like most of the upper crusts at Bethesda are just a bunch of Yes-men.

I remember a while back there was an interview where Feargus Urquheart was answering questions about New Vegas's release, and they mentioned what it was like having Todd Howard as a boss.

I find it interesting how he mentions how relaxed Todd Howard was, and how Feargus was more resistant to Josh Sawyer's ideas than Toddy Boi.

My theory is that Todd Howard isn't really an ideas guy, but thinks of himself as more of a team leader, and he trusts other's judgements on the specific aspects of the game.

This is a great quality if he's working with a company like Obsidian, as it means they can implement all the crazy ideas they want, and usually that turns out the best in terms of role-playing, however when working for a company like Bethesda, that isn't too big on writing and favours gimmicks, he should really take a stricter stance with them.

I have that theory too. He seems like he just approves things and isn't really involved in game making.

FALLOUT 3 WILL HAVE 200 ENDINGS AND IT WILL JUST WORK YOU FUCKING KNOB HEAD
I just commented that 200 endings lie on the video.

What a coincidence.

Anyway

Terminator Future Shock and

Terminator SkyNET.

Both made by Bethesda and under Todd Howard.
Apparantly, for their time pretty decent.

And it really seems that they look like a very early Fallout 3/4 prototype ... it explains a lot why Fallout 4 is what it is today ...
