"Self-Propelled"? Does that mean they load you into the cannon and shoot you out?

Elissar's position is even funnier somehow.

Sincerely,

Hardy-Har-Har! No it means the vehicles move of their own power.

Criminal Justice student and part time security guard. It's probably the best job I could ever have, since all it generally involves is either standing around thinking about nothing (daytime) or sitting down and reading (nighttime). Uni's alright as well, as soon as I get past my Criminal Law subjects, which I'm incredibly bad at.

I play with guns all day.

No, really. I work at a gunstore/range. Seen some really nice firearms... everything from black powder pistols to full-auto M60s come into the store.

Taking a break from college. I was pursuing a CJ degree but I apparently cannot pass freshman composition.

???where the hell was I?!!!

ummmm... yeah... I'm a dubious stain on society. I'm makin all of my money nowadays on Ebay  otherwise I spend all of my time finding ways to fuck up Linux.

Overnight security guard at a university art museum. I take classes sometimes but I hate sitting in a classroom and listening to boring lectures too much to do it very frequently. The job is great though, good pay and my entire work day consists of looking at art, browsing the internet, reading or playing video games.

I am filled with confidence about security guards now.

Ha, yeah, we don't paint too flattering a picture. Seriously though, it's just part of the job. A security guard has two main purposes: To react when needed, and to let everyone around know that there is someone there to react when needed. On the overnight shift especially, we're only there in case of the rare emergency, and someone who keeps their mind active and ready through reading, playing video games or even daydreaming is preferable to someone who stares at the monitors and alarm systems like a zombie. There really is no 'busy work' we can do, and a security guard who is constantly on high alert is going to unnecessarily intimidate and scare everyone around them and is probably a lunatic to boot. If you've ever gone into a place with a guard, and seen the guy constantly staring at everyone looking for a possible threat and looking as if he's ready to pounce at any second you know what I mean. That's not the type of person you want guarding anything or interacting with people.

Our job is comparable to a firefighter's in a way; you don't fault them because they spend most of their time in the fire station playing poker, eating, watching tv or sleeping. As long as they can and do react when the fire bell rings it doesn't matter what they do the rest of the time. [/unnecessary defense of job]

I work at a local grocery store called Marc's. I am a cashier but also do "cash office" where I count the tills (registers). I love the people at my job but absolutely hate my customers.

September 5 of next year I will officially enter the U.S. Air Force in the job Security Forces. I cannot wait.

I am a mechanical engineer student, and I know that, in tomorrows world, there will be many new rules for building bridges, cause of the "accidents".

Isn't playing video games a little too aggressive in light of the preference. :?:

It's pretty hard to stay wide-eyed and alert for 12 hours straight with a 30 minute break. The best you can do is find something to occupy your mind until you actually need to do something.

We aren't joking about how fucking dull it can get. I've worked as a security guard for 2 and a half years, and the largest situation I've had to handle is a guy who fell down some escalators and cut his lip. You will kill yourself if you don't find a way to keep yourself entertained.
